- In this Scotland travel video, we're visiting the Scottish Highlands for some Scotland wild camping! Wild camping is permitted in all of Scotland, which means you can camp almost wherever you'd like, so we picked Steall Falls, Scotland. We drove through gorgeous Glencoe, Scotland to get to Steall Falls, which is at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest peak in all of the British Isles. I hope you guys enjoy this Scotland travel video and Scotland travel vlog, because visiting the Scotland Highlands was definitely a highlight of this entire trip.

Hey guys! A lot of you were asking for more videos of my trip to the UK, so I put them all in a playlist for you! Feel free to come along for the journey here! th-cam.com/play/PL-KdG_p4Hp_ZzaMW73kNH7Fj5-CNExZjJ.html
@Ian Stevenson Same rental car. Never was asked about it at all, so I don't know? There was a sticker on the window that said it may be tracked by GPS, but it was no issue when we returned it or picked it up or anything. No questions.
I rented it from Europcar, and their T&Cs say I can take it to Ireland for an additional fee. Not even sure I paid the additional fee to be honest, but the car is at least allowed to be in those countries.
Renault is pronounced Renno, just thought I'd point that out. Loving your videos. 😉
Did you go to Dufftown? Its about 5 miles from ben rinnes, depending on were you camped lol, its the whiskey capital of the world.
Canyons?????? In Scotland, we, ve got Glen's, brush up before you visit again, we, re very proud of of our country x
Wrong!! Scotland does have it's own top apex predator it's called "The Scottish Midge" they can eat you alive!! Great videos guys.
Ohhhh you're so right!
The mighty midge struck at the falls by the looks of it!! By the way, you must have driven right by my house on the way from Cairnryan to Glasgow. You should have popped in for a coffee 😂😂
Midges are especially attracted by Maltesers...
Nigel Miller For some reason the north of Ireland has been inundated with the pesky things. A drop in temperature and a sprinkling of rain and prepare to get eaten alive. They’re everywhere!
Apparently, a regular intake of Marmite can turn the things off you, if you decide that's a price worth paying...
Glad you enjoyed Scotland. I moved from England to Glasgow almost 20yrs ago. They are by far the friendliest people - People make Glasgow!
Scotland looked absolutely beautiful. Those mountains - my goodness.
Right?! I was blown away!
Thats only a tiny bit of it. Scotland truly is the biggest small country in the world....
For future reference or the information of others, the best time to avoid midges in the Highlands is spring or Autumn, the little sods can ruin a summer trip, buy head nets and repellant.
I once found a spray that kept them away. The problem was that it smelled so bad that it was no better than being bitten.
Glynn Wright Avon skin so soft, honestly, ask the locals.
Use avon skin so soft.
"What? I can't hear you! I'm eating maltesers!" -literally the most Scottish thing you could have said
Well done on pronouncing "Glasgow" correctly. Every time I hear it pronounced "Glass-gou" (wrong) instead of "Glaz-go" (right), I die a little inside.
In fact, you get pretty all the place names pretty spot on. Even though I sometimes think we Scots just invented our place names specifically to fuck with foreigners and people without Scottish accents.
I'm always interested in videos like this, because you tend to think that there can't be THAT much different between the US and Scotland that there'd be that much of a culture shock; and in the broadest sense there really isn't. But it still brings home the tiny little nuances that you wouldn't tend to think of and that people tend to take for granted in their own country.
Like one thing you touched on: There is literally no wildlife in this country that's capable of killing me. I mean....the most dangerous animal to humans in our country is the domestic cow. We've got exactly one poisonous snake, but it's kinda like the junior member of the "poisonous snake club". I mean....they let it into the club and let it wear the jacket, but it's kinda looked down on by all the other poisonous snakes because it's bite probably couldn't kill anything larger than a child. I can't imagine going out in the wilderness and having to actively be aware that there might be animals around that could kill me if I'm not careful.
Although I see you DID encounter the Midgies. If anything in Scotland is likely to eat you, it's the midgies.
"I can't hear you, I'm eating Maltesers" is something we can all relate to
Was great watching all your vids across the UK loved the editing n commentary guys thanks for showing how lovely the British Isles are. Take care all
I seriously love the way you edited the music onto this clip it makes it a.joy to watch........
I really enjoy these vlogs. You are so enthusiastic about everything and you do your homework so you come across as being informed. In the past I have found similar vlogs to just not get the UK. So well done.
You're so sweet! I adored my time there, I truly can't wait to visit again.
@@CulpFiction And I forgot to ask you to say hello to your other half from one vet to another.
I really take for granted of how beautiful Scotland is. I’ve lived here my whole life in the northern highlands, and to me personally, the North East up Caithness is my favourite parts.
Absolutely gorgeous country. I can't wait to visit again! Never take for granted where you're from because it's absolutely stunning. And I adore the Scots! Such wonderful people. ❤️
CulpFiction Vlogs thank you! Hope you enjoy your second visit!
Still catching up on your travel vlogs. I think it is so neat how you included the digital tour and map for us to see your journey! I don't know how you came up with that idea but it really adds to the videos!!
Wow, this is gorgeous! I love the photos you got as well. I am trying not to be green with envy! I know I will travel like this one day!! You did it the right way, live your life while you're young and enjoy yourself! I did it backwards but I am not giving up my dreams to see the world!!
Glencoe is stunning and worth a stop near the three sisters, even better is a wild camp in the hidden Valley.
Awesome! I went here when I was young and would love to go back again. Thanks for sharing.
I'm so glad you enjoyed Jack! I LOVED it there! ❤️
So proud of my country ❤️ love Glencoe 🏴
Amazing! What a cool campsite ⛺️ Scotland is beautiful!
It was gorgeous!
Car decks can get high levels of exhaust fumes, which is one of the reasons they really try to stop you going to sleep in your vehicle.
Even when all the cars are off? So interesting! I'm from Seattle, and I took our ferry pretty much every day to commute to school, and they have no problem at all with people sleeping in their cars instead of venturing up onto the passenger deck. It's crazy how different things like that can be across the world!
I remember (illegally) sleeping in a camper van overnight on the ferry when I went to see the Le Mans 24 hours from Portsmouth harbour and waking up with a nasty headache. The big diesel trucks ran their engines through the night to keep the refrigerators operating on perishable loads, so the air was very polluted. It maybe that there is just a general national rule as a result.
It makes me smile to see how excited you all were at every new experience, but so pleased that you enjoyed your trip. You were just like my family when we visited Seattle and Vancouver. You were REALLY lucky with the weather, summers such as this year happen around every thirty years.
From experience I would say the midges have 1st June diarised, 'Tourists arrive, get biting'. I cheat them by visiting the Highlands in April. The Gulf Stream often causes the coast of the Northwest in April to be the warmest place in Europe. The last time I went to Balnakiel on the north coast we drank chocolate from the Chocolate Factory sitting outside in 23C sunshine. My wife and I visited the Highlands almost every year for 60 years, sometimes several times a year.
Isle of Skye is amazing up there too, but you cant really go wrong in such an unbelievabley beautiful country..one of my favourites! Were you thinking of Poundland? "Pound Town"..lmao, awesome!!
Was most definitely thinking of Poundland haha!
great video I see the dreaded midge got you on your wild camping you learn to get in the tent when evening falls
You missed the green welly stop, I never drive the a82 without stopping there for a deserved break
Richie C that’s exactly what i do it’s a wee bit expensive tho 😂
Nice vlog . I live in Aviemore which is in the highlands of Scotland perfect for hikes and midges haha
I go there every year to go skiing with my dad 😊
They won't know aviemore-scotlands ski ⛷️ central in the Highland's,
Ohhh My what a beautiful film of out Isles
Watch out for the haggis's in the highlands. They'll getcha
Guys if you ever come to Scotland again buy a midge repellent called Smidge. I find it the best controlling these beasties. Glad you had a great time here 🙂
Top tip when camping in Scotland. Always keep your tent zipped up.
These have been such amazing videos. All the beautiful scenery and cute towns. Such a great job at editing and sharing. Again, thank you very much.
I'm SO glad you've enjoyed them!
What a wonderful video of beautiful Scotland! I’m Scottish and haven’t actually travelled much of Scotland (I’m embarrassed to say 😫) its so refreshing to see people enjoying our country and putting word out that it’s definitely worth coming to see! ❤️
You need to travel to Fort Augustus, it's so beautiful. I'm from Edinburgh but I'd travel up North during school holidays and work through the summer 😊 Met so many many interesting people
It doesn't cost much get a bike and do west highland way or the Highland's,I've worked in hotels all over Scotland, spittle of glenshee u can do snowboard etc
Very nice indeed ,, just a wee note, we don't have " canyons " in Scotland they are GLENS ,,, can you imagine a Scot going to Arizona and calling the attraction there " The Grand Glen " ,,,
Actually Scotland around 500million years ago it's mountains wudd rival Himalayas they are ancient remnant of mighty mountain
When you were walking to your campsite, I'm like "Hmmm... looks like midge-y weather." Sure enough.
People just bypass the borders and it’s one of the best bits.
Rachel Taylor Sad but true...I'm from Northern Ireland but I love visiting the Borders just a short ferry ride away.
I'v walked the Southern Upland Way so I see where your coming from but it's not quite as dramatic as the Highlands.
I'm glad in a way. Ok people miss it but it means I can have it all to myself ....... HOORAY !!!!!!
Hi
Nice but if you’re only spending a week or so I don’t think it would make the cut?
Glen Nevis is a lovely area you can climb the steel falls when they freeze in winter
For "canyon" replace with "glen".
Great vid of our wee country - haste ye back. 🏴
Car storage is typically in the ballast tanks, its the first thing to go in a leak.
You can basically disregard 'No camping' signs, it's usually just landowners who are grumpy about the access laws in Scotland; the only exceptions being a few spots here and there around Loch Lomond where they have particular by-laws.
Oooh this is good to know! Thank you!
Daniel is telling you the absolute truth .
Thank you for sharing these have been some of the best video's I have really enjoyed them
I'm so glad you've been liking them George!
So much of who we are is where we're been. Hope your Scottish tip. still stays in your heart to this day.🙂🌈😎
YOU WON'T FORGET THE MIDGES ,EVER. IT'S THE MAIN REASON THAT NO OTHER LIVING CREATURE'S ARE THERE.
You make an amazing point. They were crazy!
what about the junkies ,pleny of them
@@grahamhill9499 aye but the midgies ate them aw
So the rest of us are zombies!!! And yet we still have more brains than the English - Boris for prime minister!!! Only the English could come up with that tragedy.
How amazing is Glen Coe? I love it so much that my hallway is full of photos of it.
Also, it's super weird that you weren't familiar with Malteaser. They're so good.
It was SO gorgeous! And yes, we don't have them here! We have malted milk balls, and a similar candy called Whoppers, but they're more malty than Malteasers are!
'poundland' is probably the name of the shop you got the maltesers from.
Just gorgeous scenery!! And you always find thee best music!!! Many hearts to you for this vlog!!!
Thank you so so much Dawn!
Scotland is so beautiful! It looks cold there! Not a fan of the cold, so I’d have to go when it’s warmer. The ferry looked really nice on the inside! Basically like you said a mini cruise ship.
Ha! I'm not sure if it ever really gets "warmer", unless there's an unusual heat wave. This was in the middle of July! It was absolutely gorgeous.
Me and my sister were there at the first of August they said it was warm . Not so much lol but it was so worth being a little chilly it was so freaking amazing loved it
what a great spot you pitched yer tent,,, once i was up at the ness and my girl was driving but we went on the east side coming home but decided to stop and pulled in we were in a 1984 VW polo very uncomfy but at around 5am we woke up to a beautiful view we were at the south side of loch oich the wee baby south of the ness im scottish and that was and is what Scotland is
It was absolutely gorgeous there, I'm so glad we found such an incredible spot!
Skye no other place to be northern lights almost every night for the last month
Glenn Speirs what month? I’ll be up there in September
Caty and Blake , at 6.24 on your video . That's called the 3 sisters and they filmed Mary Queen Of Scots There.
I think the propellers turn beneath the boat giving it that multi dimensional can do anything boat feel when leaving a dock. I haven't watched any of your vlogs (new to your channel) but will certainly do so after this. Spectacular! The midges might be munching on you but you were munching on Maltesers in style. Good going. Mark
Azimuth thrusters. They can pivot 360 degrees.
That'l be it Rob. Cheers mate.
Land of the free, home of the brave.... Scotland!
Wow great video! Gorgeous and great editing! We just spent a month in Europe over the summer and next year we're taking the kids to Ireland and Scotland. Love your video! We are subs and cant wait to watch more of your videos.
So amazing! I hope you guys have the most fantastic time ever!
Do you rent your camping equipment or did you bring it on the plane with you?
Becca brought it with her. She has gone backpacking before, so she has a tiny tent and tiny sleeping bags. Everything else packed quite small, and we didn't bring any cooking equipment or anything.
Not sure in the vlog but there was some great photography and cinematography in there.
There's a simple reason for why you can't stay in your car during sailing, and that reason is fire. Cars are fire hazards, so during sailing car decks is usually locked by fire proof doors so that a potential fire won't spread. You dont won't to be sleeping on a burning car deck.
Scotland was once part of Norway it actually collided with what we call England, along where hadrians wall was constructed, amazing home did roman engineers know that, the roman wall could have been constructed somewhere else, amazing
Such beautiful country!
I heard it originally was attached to Canada
Glasgow is a shopper's paradise! 😀
A very well put together video if I do say so myself, even the music makes it really good :p
lovely filming
really enjoyed
Its so hard to fully demonstrate the grandeur of the highlands without seeing it for yourself......
My photos can never capture it....
These vlogs don't even capture it. It's absolutely gorgeous!
U need sum funky softwares
I got my mother one of those commemorative land plots that's like 1ft x 1ft, it's in Glen Coe. Have always wanted to go. Gorgeous.
AND thank you SO MUCH for the shout. We can't wait to see you both again! =]
Dude that is SO cool! I wish I would've known, I would have sent you a picture or something!
Really liking your videos in these quaint old British Isles, subscribed.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you're loving them!
Hiya. Watching the end, I see nobody told you about the midges! Especially near water.
We should have been warned! It was crazy!
Oh they are bastards, ain't they?! Haaaaa!
Avon skin so soft will repel them.
You should of had a fire going . the smoke reduces the amount of midges . great vid
When I used to smoke I found that midges didn't like cigar smoke.
Did u not fancy crossing the wire bridge and see the falls up close....Check out the Ring of steall 4 great mountains above the falls...Great memories of doing them 2 years ago.
I like the many smaller vlogs - kind of something to look forward to each day. 😁
I completely agree!
I feel it’s important to point out that, although we have “the right to roam”, and camp, policy, it is within our country code to do so. If you don’t know what that is, you really aught to before you take advantage of privilege. Enjoy our country responsibly. Happy travels!
It's not hard, put out fires before. You leave, leave no rubbish, close gates behind you,you can go where u like in Scotland,if it doesn't have big arsed fence u can walk where u like,
Great,love it.
Was this a one off trip or have you been back since....?
Ladies. Very, very well done!!!!
Best campsite ever!!!
Enjoyed seeing your trip. I was brought up in Galloway, right on Loch Ryan, where you landed. But you Americans were being SO optimistic spraying the scenery attempting to get rid of the highland midgies!
The thing i really enjoyed about this video was the "Suck it and see" attitude, you just said "Lets camp there!!!!" And you did, very enjoyable :p
Haha I'm glad you enjoyed Leon!
If you are ever in North West England, I live in St Helens, so you can come to my house for a "Suck it and see" cup of tea and..........................Cake :p
love the spirit
I go skiing at Glencoe! Its great living in the Helians ken?
I am going to Scotland for my honeymoon in a few months (staying in Edinburgh). Would you consider the journey southwest to ferry over to Belfast for a day trip to be worth it? Thanks!
No, I would not. A journey to Belfast would take at least 3 days if you want to really enjoy and see everything. I adored Belfast as well as all of Scotland, however, if you just want a day trip, I wouldn't suggest it just because you'd be cutting yourself short a ton.
@@CulpFiction I seeee. Good to know. Thanks!
What drone is that ya'll used? My husband and I are going on a two week back packing trip through Ireland, Scotland and England in 2019 and I want to get a drone for it.
DJI Mavic Pro!
@@CulpFiction noooooo don't tell me that!!! I am in love with that one but that price tag.... dang it Tax return is gone lol
I'm so lucky to be Scottish
John Marston same here
Sad fact most Scots have never seen these things ,In Glasgow when I say am from Argyll half time they are like where?Christ I can tell em schemes in Glasgow they don't know!!😂
@@lordoftheworlds6781 yeah, I'm living in Paisley atm. Surprised me how few people have seen other places in Scotland. Some know Spain better than their own country 😂
I would luv to see where some of my heritage comes from as my last name is Scottish from the MacGregor Clan . Did ya's rent the camping gear or bring it over with ya's on the plane ? Did take you awhile to get use start driving on the right side of the road again after you got back home to Las Vegas ? Did the sound of the waterfall keep you awake at all in your tent ?
We brought the camping gear with us! Becca has lots of friends that go backpacking, so she just borrowed a small tent and small sleeping bags. Everything else was quite small and easy to carry. As for driving back in the states again, yep! Took a little adjusting, but it wasn't as bad as it was first adjusting on the left. And the waterfall actually lulled me to sleep!
As much wonderful as my beloved ECUADOR😇
love to see Ecuador.

@@carolinaprexl3874 hi im in Scotland uk
Yes, Maltesers are outstanding.
Best channel on TH-cam
Great vlog, actually found this more entertaining than regular profesional TV travel programs. P.S the waterfall must of been noisy to camp near!
There are apex predators in the UK (what we call 'alien big cats'), but for now they tend to avoid confrontations with people. There was only one incident which reached the news, where a boy was clawed in the face by one, before it ran off (he had gotten too close to it).
What time of year did you guys visit Scotland?
Late July, early August!
great video, I think you can wild camp anywhere in Scotland except near schools and other places for obvious reasons
You can camp most places just don't make a pest out yurrself
The reason for the restriction of access to the car deck during transit should be obvious as its a long way to the lifeboats with all the watertight doors closed !!
So cool:) Love It:)
Aw thank you Jane! I'm so happy you enjoyed!
Brings back such memories..Scotland was amazing. I'm determined to go back to Switzerland.. it was magical
I'd love to visit Switzerland one day! I never have, but I've always wanted to!
Eye it be just a bonny sunny day in Scotland lassie dear. The turning radius is from a car it is a truck. A tank turns tighter and you make your own parking spot. Looks like home don't it Caty. Just watchout for those highlanders now!
It totally reminded me of WA. Loved it!

How is the refueling processed in GB?
Do you mean filling up your car? It's pretty much the exact same as in the states. It's in liters per gallon instead of gallons, and the green handle is petrol (gas) instead of diesel like it is here in the states. And it's expensive. But other than that, it's the same.
Just missed the best summer since 1976 here in Scotland every man is wearing a mankini (avoid at all costs)
love glen coe isn't this where the old military road is?
Great travels 🔥
Thanks!
10:30 is so beautiful. I mean, it's Steall falls, would you expect anything less? lol
But, I give you girls props. Being 44, not sure if I'd go camping like that...actually, probably not. I'm brave, but not that brave, lol.
It was sooo fun! I'm really glad we did it!
Great video that giving me ideas for my trip to Scotland in September. Btw Renault is pronounced “reh-no” 😂
How was Scotland?
Great. Glad you enjoued yorselves!
How can I get to the camp where the steel or steal falls are?
You hike! Here are the directions. ❤️ www.walkhighlands.co.uk/fortwilliam/steallfalls.shtml
I see you met oor midgies - our top predators. Haha. They love Maltesers!! :D
For any one camping in scotland when the midgies are out, build a camp fire and burn green wood smoke chases them away.
What was the cost of the ferry?
Freaking expensive. It was about £200 for two adults and a car to drive on.
it varies according to season and time of day there are two competing ferry companies so sometimes you can get good offers.
Loved the music..
I'm so glad to hear that!
