I just stumbled upon your channel and I'm truly blown away by your insights! It feels like you’re reading my thoughts! YES! Overheating is about AIRFLOW. YES! Buying the kit lens and playing with it is the best way to chose what focal lengths you NEED. YES! Choose the zv-e1 based on your EXACT needs. With other channels I learn alot and try to figure out the answers to such questions myself. With your videos you start with the question I have in my mind. You tend to confirm what I think/hope/believe to be true, and take it to another level based on your extensive experience. Please keep it up!

When it comes to video and cameras I just try and be real about the situation lol It’s soooo much fluff on TH-cam, it gets annoying trying to find basic answers and I try to address the same concerns I would have or did have if in the creators shoes.

I ran a test streaming 6.5 hours of 4k30 over USB-C PD, the built in battery went from 100% to 83% over this time (no overheat issues), so for most uses, you don't need a power bank or dummy batteries. A laptop (in my case a MacBook) will happily power it for a VERY long time.
EDIT: This is doing the recording on the laptop using OBS using the USB data connection, no recording happening on the camera at all. This is great as it's a single cable for video data and power, no other cables or accessories needed.

How do you send a 4K signal via USB? Is it a regular USB-C to micro USB cable?
@@GP-qb9hi it needs to be a USB3.1 cable, make sure it can handle 10gbit, the USB 480mbps ones won’t work - otherwise yes, just a properly rated USB-C cable straight to a MacBook.
I get over 2+ hours of ZV-E1 livestreaming using USB-C for both video and power delivery with no overheating problems. A great camera!

Thank you for the tips! I’ve been struggling with the decision of keeping the camera or not, but I’m going to try these things first.
I feel you, it's an annoying issues a lot of cameras are running into these days, but if you're doing longer takes, podcasts or live streams, it just makes sense to grab the Ulanzi camera fan with either this camera or any others running into issues.

Hi Diana, super helpful video especially with the settings. Can I ask - do you know a good way I use my ZV-E1 (I went for it!) could record a video in 4K 24p and screen recording at the same time separately?
I'm testing out eCamm (thanks for the rec) but have only been able to get it to do Picture in Picture which combines both my talking head and screen recording. In Descript I can record both video and the screen, but only in 4K 30p or 1080 30p because of the ZV-E1 settings. Any help would be much appreciated!

@PeterSu Howdy Peter! Hmm...there's a couple of different ways you can do that, but let's stick with what you have so far. If you already have Ecamm Live and the ZV-E1, using a computer based setup can be accomplished by creating a scene that is the final layout you'd ideally like BUT enable isolated video files in your Ecamm settings.
In Ecamm, go to the Settings gear icon, select the tab "Recording", and you'll see an option called "Record All Broadcasts". If you have this option selected, you'll then see more options become available called "Record Isolated Video Tracks". Here you can select the individual video feeds you want to record. That way when you go into editing, you can have the full version of that isolated video feed vs just the created scene in Ecamm.
I personally try to minimize as many steps as possible in edited by making the adjustments in real time in Ecamm.
So, if I know most of my video is going to be a picture in picture framing, I'm going to enable Isolated video so I can switch to the full camera screen feed or just me on screen when I want to in editing. However, if I know a longer portion is just talking head, I go to my "Just Me" scene, and let it rest there until I'm ready to switch to something different.
I do everything in 4k 24p, even in a setup like you're describing you'd like to do. I used the HDMI port, not the USB/ The only way/reason you'd be locked into certain frame rates is if you use USB-C only. I go HDMI every time because it's the best quality and gives me tons of creative flexibility.
You can mix and match it however you want. Congrats on grabbing the ZV-E1, hope you enjoy it!

OK - so I got the Cam Link 4K and can get 4K 24p in eCamm via HDMI now, and also ordered the UURig fan with your link (huge to know you trust this adapter more).
However, when I go to "Record Isolated Video Tracks" the individual tracks are greyed out because I don't have Apple Silicon in my older mac. Is there any way to still record the screen separately on eCamm?
If not, what do you think about if I just use Descript and record my talking head in 4K 24p (via the Cam Link) + my screen? This setup seems pretty awesome since I want to drop everything in here anyway to get Studio Sound and edit in here. The only thing is I'm worried about the 4K video being choppy/having latency since I think Descript uploads my stream to the cloud and my internet speed wobbles at times.

i always use my elgato 4k capture card. i never live stream USB. does that make any difference?
For streaming on the camera, yeah. I always use my Elgato Cam Link 4k as well, and it still has the potential to overheat in either scenario. The biggest issue is always going to be airflow. The fact there's nothing to dissipate that heat from the camera, doesn't matter how it's setup, it has the potential to overheat.
For me, even though I've been able to push this camera to get that ideal airflow without a fan, it's just easier to pop on the Ulanzi camera fan push that heat off the camera to run it indefinitely, without any issues.

Howdy! @MaverickMeta I always use HDMI for connecting my cameras for live streaming or connecting to my computer. If I'm traveling, I still take my 2nd Cam Link with me because it takes up no space in the bag.
HDMI is my go-to preference at home because I use a dummy battery with my setup as well, so I have unlimited power, and that streaming setup is always setup, so I never have to take it down.

How do you set up the camera to the computer for steaming? Are you using the usb c…or micro hdmi to cam link? Or something else…I’m super new to streaming with cameras lol
No worries! If you can plug in a flash drive, you can live stream with a camera.
You can use USB but got a video dropping soon on why you may not want to. I live stream via Cam Link and this is how:
1. You’ll need a Micro HDMI male to Full Size HDMI male cable. The small size goes into your camera, the larger side goes into your Cam Link.
2. The Cam Link has one side that’s a full size HDMI female and the other end is a USB type A male end. The female part connects to the HDMI cable coming out of your camera and into the Cam Link.
3. The last part is you plug the USB Cam Link into your computer (or the little extension cable that comes in the Cam Link box if you need some more reach).
That’s it. Sounds like it’s more than what it is but I wanted to make sure you know the names of the specific cables.

I looked online with the battery and saw this... should i worry? NOTE: After updating the firmware of the A7 IV, FX3, FX30 and ZV-E1 cameras, a warning pops up when using this battery. Not compatible with A7CR, A7C II, FX3(Ver.4.00), FX30(Ver.3.00), A7 IV(Ver.2.00 and above) and ZV-E1(Ver.1.02).
Using what battery?
I don’t update my cameras unless they need it for a firmware update that either adds features or fixes an active issue on the camera. Since neither are that common with Sony, I rarely ever do. This video was done on version 1.01 which added the 120fps update. Use a reliable Sony braced battery and you won’t get any weird messages.

Can somebody please recommend the proper cable that will allow me to stream with this camera in 1080p and above? I've literally bought 4 different cables that claim to be "3.2gen Superspeed" and non of them are enabling my Zve1 to stream in anything higher than 720. Does anyone legit know of a proper USB-c to USB cable that will allow higher streaming while simultaneously charging it fast?
Ah, you mean via USB-C? Yeah, it makes a huge difference the cable because it can’t just be labeled a fast speed cable but actually be a fast speed cable for 4k video and fast data transfer as USB C 3.0 at least.
For all the ZV-E1 can do, you’ll want a good cable, and for that I’d recommend Kondor Blue or JSAUX high speed data cables. I’ve had great success using both of those for long periods of time with no issues. The Kondor Blue cable is the one I’d go with for sure if you need a long cable. Don’t go over 10’ cables or you’ll start to experience slower data transfer speeds with your video. So, 4-10’ is my go to range depending on what your doing. I bought the Sony ZV E10 camera last weekend and I was about to try it but my uncle show me this camera bundle and I was like "WHY DID YOU SHOW ME THIS FOR??!!!" LOL 😱 so I return the camera tuesday now waiting for my refund so I can buy the camera again but with the bundle lol 🤣

I don’t understand this video. I have the ZV-E1. After plugging the camera into the computer, the screen of the camera gives me the option to enter “Streaming “ mode which removes the users access the recording modes you mentioned in this video “HS 4K “ “Hd S “ etc.
I don’t stream via USB, I only stream via HDMI out to get access to the best the camera can do for video. If you prefer USB streaming, the options vary.
