  • Author, consciousness explorer and co-founder of @RebelWisdom , Alexander Beiner returns to the mind meld!
Alex is the author of The Bigger Picture, executive director of Breaking Convention and co-founder of one of my favorite youtube channels, Rebel Wisdom.
Alex also participated in a groundbreaking study at Imperial College London, in which, participants were given extended-state, high-dose, intravenous DMT. His experiences, as you’ll hear, were profound, alien and life-changing. In this one, we also riff on the importance of balancing intellectual , non-propositional (experience-based) knowing, wielding numerous philosophical lenses Carl Jung's mysticism, ancient wisdom, consciousness, and much more.

Great conversation guys. I’ve had a fascinating life, agnostic Psychedelic experiences 15-19 (80 trips) turned radical Christ follower at 19, full blown believer/preacher for years, drifted from “the Way”, kind of unraveled my life, double downed in 30s to the Bible, deep study into ancient texts (Hebrew/Koine Greek, some of the top unknown minds in Christ followership…) then last 5 years again, somewhat drifted from that way, yet still a strong believer… and have done almost every altered state experience over the past 5 years. I feel these experiences brought me closer to God, to love, to sign posts pointing me back to the Way. I’ve expected to have darker experiences, but it’s been very enlightening and mostly very loving and full of gratitude and healing.
I believe psychedelics are bringing us into a 4th dimension of the spiritual realm. Anyway, no real point was just inspired to share my experience, as I don’t think many people have gone to the depths of Christianity that I have, really, and also the depths of mind altered states. I’m not sure they can co-exist together, or are needed to find truth/love/hope etc.. but personally, they have helped me work through some treacherous losses in my life and make sense of my place in this world. Cheers.

Thank god I’m not the only one who’s went down this path.
      Ex Pentecostal here xD
Gods used psychedelics to completely reveal “ the kingdom” in which he speaks of in the scriptures a lot of the people in the church walls have never actually seen the kingdom in its geometric beauty but yet here we are.
He gives us the leaves for the healing of the nations. I think he’s using plant medicine to reveal the true spiritual world to us.

I took mushrooms and used smoke and mirrors with candles and once I entered into a meditative state a voice appeared and was talking to me and a lot of things happened but I was shown what seemed to be Christ through the eyes of someone else back in time and I’ll never forget just how beautiful he was like I can’t put into words and my brain can’t even keep that memory because it was too much I try not to think about it too much I’m more of a it’s not what happened it’s who it happened to guy and I’m all about being present and living in the moment and not bringing the past back but man oh man just once I want people to see

I can't put it into words either but I understand the sentiment. Not even the dramatic landscapes in nature I've seen in my life compare to the moment everything clicked in my head and I beheld his divine beauty with renewed eyes.
Beauty is such a clumsy and insufficient word to describe the experience of beholding him.

I've only done dmt a handful of times, and I made and administered Aya by myself once.
Under the Aya, I learned that I have to love myself before I can meet and accept the love of the universe. And I was given flashbacks to my childhood to start me on the path of self-love.
Most of those memories explained why I felt so unlovable, and one very special memory showed me a moment when I felt very loved by my grandmother. The gift of that one moment is that it triggers a long list of moments when she made me feel loved.

It's been 3 years since I tripped on DMT, can't find a plug anywhere in my area. Back then, We used one of those vaporizers with the big bags. The first time I didn't do enough and I just seen shapes and colours. But the second time I managed to get another hit in before I got the light headed. I remember floating above the country side flying and then all of a sudden I zoomed down into a deer and went right inside of it and I was the veins and the blood and flowing through this deers body. It was very strange lol

You talked about the cosmos being a living being. Ever since I was little, which was a long time ago, I imagined us on earth being part of a cell in some huge being. I would bring this up to people and they would look at me like "what are you smokin'?" Come on now, it may have been the 1970's, but I was 7.

Thanks for touching on psychedelics and Christianity. It was hard for me to work through those cognitive biases, and I still struggled with it every time I take a psychedelic plunge. • @fredmuniz3645
      @fredmuniz3645 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Jung was a deep student of Eastern " psychological philosophy ". This saying of Jung, as well as many others, was attributed to the Buddhas saying, as follows : " if you meet the Buddha on the road-kill him! " Much of Jung's work was based on Eastern Thought, although many would be scholars were not aware of this. A prime example of this is his work, on what he refers to as the " collective consciousness " , which in the Vedas is called " A!ayavajnaya " which may also be translated to " stored consciousness ". Jung ,Baynes and Wilhelm were, and are still unmatched in their work of bringing understanding of Eastern philosophical psychology to the western mind. Go in peace grasshoppers !

Hearing about the shadow work reminds me of a quote.
“If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?” - aleksandr solzhenitsyn
And that line he’s talking about can shift within us many time over the course of our life.
The shadow side has its purpose. Sometimes it’s there for a season, sometimes it’s there for survival, sometimes it’s there for a lesson, and many other reasons and uses. But it’s in all of us. And that’s terrifying to a lot of people because deep down we know the one thing we can’t escape is ourselves.

It came to my life when i was most confused about world, when i needed answers , it showed me what its all about and than left my life like never existed before, and its just a memory wich more and more im identifyng as regular reality, what i mean by this is what we experiemcing here in this reality, anxiety, fear, love, loneliness, happiness, sadness everything comes from same place and same energy, only thing is its translated from there into bodys, into emotions, into words and nature. We create this just for us, just to experience everything. We pretend to forget we are one because its how its supposed to be. From that stillnes we wanted to experience movement. But we always go back to ourselves

Well I have to triple comment because thhs one is really important. He mentioned "white noise static but also colorful" about what the DMT space is without his overlay. He's describing exactly what I see all the time. I see what sorta looks like "snow" on an old CRT tv without a signal, but it's colorful in a way but it's also not colorful at the same time. I see it with my eyes opetor closed. It's like I have an "overlay" as well but it's transparent. I can still see everything else but I also see the "static" noise too. When i close my eyes I can often see patterns come out of the "snow" that look remarkably like the geometrical patterns you see in DMT art. Sometime I se faces as well. A face will pop out and will morph into other faces.
I'm of the opinion that the DMT space is very real and I also think it's possible to go there without DMT. Hope it doesn't sound like I'm tooting my own horn but I think I have some "switch" that's somehow flipped within me that is letting me see this place and just a tiny bit of the DMT space at thw same time. Seriously I've been telling people about the "tv snow" for years now and this guy described what I see.

She has dealt with these challenges far too long and won't seek help because she has to go to the VA. I've been thinking about her going to a therapy with psychedelics but i don't know where to begin and cant afford a fancy retreat center. Where can i go to get her help like this?

1:06:10 - you’ll have to tell me more about this CSF chamber thing. I just wrote a bunch about CSF and DMT experiences, but didn’t come across what you’re discussing.
This thing is, to investigate it this way is not to discount the experience, or to make it boring. It’s just for science to find a mechanism and then continue the search. The CSF bit may literally be part of the experience. If it can be seen, played with, investigated, utilized, etc., why not find out? If your frame is that it’s boring, then sure, it’ll be boring, or it’ll be sci-fi, or it will be prophetic. Your call. It can be framed as a truth claim too, but that’s conjecture placed on others often. People are more often proposing a hypothesis, or theory, with fervor.

I stumbled into shadow work as well, but didn't know about what that is until after the fact. For me it happened when I stopped taking depression and anxiety medication. It seemed soul killing, and turned me into a zombie. I threw it all away and quit cold turkey. My brain freaked out and my mind went threw a very unpleasant "shattering". I got threw it by, metaphoricly, picking up and examining all of the pieces. That's when I started to examine my thought processes, and inner voice. I learned that I have a lot of protective love that I've never received from others. Since I had childhood truama it manifested in a rather toxic way, but when analyzed I came to understand it came from a place of self tough love. It was actually pushing me to improve and scolding me when I do self destructive things. It's like having a toxic uncle that isn't very nice but would 100% go to prison for you. Lol

I hypothesise that the spine stem and spinal fluid is heavily involved with the production on DMT (I believe it’s been proved to be found there)
    I w
Speculate that this is why the sensation of kundalini energy comes here, starting at the base and moving up. Eventually terminating at... the pineal gland.
Not necessarily the producer, but the final destination. Where DMT then off boards and interacts with your brain
    Just a thought 😊

The spinal column being the main energy channel just like the sushumna, albeit in physical terms and effects rather than etheric/subtle energy.

These are two quotes that I typed out from after reading Catafalque that might kinda relate to the DMT experience:
"There are some situations, though, where no amount of explaining is going to make any difference-will ever be enough."
"Ambiguity has been well and truly excluded, drowned out by the voice of rationality-by what Jung liked to describe as the 'petty reasoning mind, which cannot endure any paradoxes". Or at least this is what rationalists choose to think. But what they forget is that originally ambiguity and paradox were an integral, essential feature of real logic: of the sacred logic, which always stands untouched although savaged by their reasoning."

I did too. On DMT. What I can only describe as my soul. The animating force. I also met it in another person. Very familiar but couldn’t understand it. And also tons of wild synchronicities around that time and still having them and they seem to have that “non causal connection” to the twin flame journey. I recognized her by how she moves and how she moves WITH me. Idk if that makes sense. It came with a complex feeling of Deja vu
The word “twin flames” is a topic most people don’t want to entertain or learn about. From the outside looking in, it appears to be a toxic bubble of delusion but there’s much more in it. It’s complicated
All this shadow work and revealing unconscious and all this inner work comes as a byproduct of the twin flame journey. Then pairing that with psychedelics and understanding Jung completely transforms the psychedelic experience.

I heard somehere opposed to the pineal gland theory that if the brainwaves in both hemisphers synchronise, that's when we have changed states of consciousness, so possibly a brain DMT release from that? Before i did psychedelics i learnd to astral project at night and i feel like that has something to do with brainwaves. The vibration that preceeds the projection starts in my feet and goes through my body to my brain. After one good mushroom trip i had astral projection that night and the vibrations went extremly quickly from my feet into my brain and it made like a "DING!" sound in my brain. Like it was charged, synchronised and prepared to operate. So there might me something to the idea, if brain DMT has something to do with astral projection that is.... i don't know. Astral world isn't like the DMT world at all (from what i heard i didn't do DMT yet) but maybe it depends on the dose the brain makes and other chemical mix in there. A good mushroom trip does help the brain to have astral projection more often though so that is somehow connected.

1:02:00 - The reason DMT and NDEs are found to be dissimilar in this manner is because DMT isn’t a moment of dying, so it skips that step in the process. We breakthrough and get what comes after; though just as he said when the veil is lifted with no framework, we get chaos. We are still alive, so the DMT experience beyond the veil is littered with all the chaotic options on offer, in lieu of one framed by a life which has just ended a very unique phase with its own unique framework. There are many frames. Bubbles in bubbles shining variations on the theme of light and shadow.

I "only" did Ayahuasca and was surrounded by 3 humanoid creatures, who behaved and felt curious/ ver interesting, like they where probing me.those on my left and right where observing only, the one in front of me was communicating, he was formed by partially transparant balls, each ball had things in them going on, some had views of a galaxy, some looked like a movie with people talking to each other, others where like a view of people walking on a trainstation, some where nature, microcosm, etc. When I looked into them it was as if I was being pulled into it, so I tried to because I thought "woah, these are portals". But the being constantly directed my attention to other balls he wanted to show me, and so he did, these balls where about my life and how I was behaving destructively and how I judged people living "normal" lives while letting me feel into their lives wich where much more living then I did at the time, I was in a period of disassociated non participant, I was living by choice like a spectator, because I felt every action could be contributing to this vast prison system of ego suffering, this fear aggregate wich I feel like fuels something potentially non benevolent, the being taughted me that non participating is also participating and showed me in these balls one by one what kind of good things I Could have done and my non participating was just a mind construction to obfuscate the FEAR of making the wrong choices, and that I did not even was practicing non participation but hedonism.
That was a pretty bad trip, but the confrontation was life changing in a good way because it put me on a path of following Yeshuah's teaching and try to shed as much self illusionary ego as I can without becoming totally disfunctional.
You guys are talking about you want an objective model for a subjective world, reality is mental, there is no usefull objective world, you also fall into dogma, science is also imbued with dogma. You need to use a subjective model to navigate in a subjective world.

Twice now I’ve had moments in your conversation that had me frustrated because you’re talking about the phenomenon of what death and integral life experiences are all about and it keeps striking me that you’re not talking with women or discussing the philosopher’s who are. It’s a glaring hole in the topic and it’s also exactly what you’re referring to when you’re trying to get a grip on intermediary relationships between the real world and the spiritual realms.
As a scholar of this subject I have so many thoughts and experiences that I know would advance this conversation and it is inherently hairpullingly difficult to be a passive listener and not bring this up. I don’t think it’s on purpose but it’s the sad norm of philosophical debate that still, to this day, keeps missing out on the absolute gold mine of female experience and embodied knowledge.
For example, for our species especially, it’s the female phenotype that is the original psychopomp. This is always being looked at from the end points (perhaps, probably not) of death or NDE’s and never once are women’s experiences of birth and dual personhood for a significant amount of time ever brought up.
The fact is that nothing else is so critical for everyone’s existence in this life we all get than being born and the journey of the mother is not just a physical process but a mental and spiritual journey to and then back from the cusp of life and death to bring one more soul into being. Talk about shamanic states, it seems incredibly similar to what occurs during transition and how the mother must decide at some point that she will die in some transcendental fashion in order to give birth and it is at this point the final stages of labor begin. I have been through this twice and each time there was a point where I had to choose to trust the process even if I didn’t make it back across that bridge and yet choose to take that walk anyway. Luckily I made it back successfully with both of my children, who were brand new beings from somewhere else.
This existential component of pregnancy and labor is not only physically necessary for all of our lives and continuation as a species, but in the western world especially, this extremely human interaction and embodiment of the spiritual has been utterly gutted, sanitized and completely subjugated by an extremely male, extremely patronizing medical tradition that sees women as other and is even more afraid of this part of our biological system.
You don’t need to look much further than what has happened with Roe to see the effects of this fear, but this projected terror is hammered into all women to mistrust their intuition and bodies and end up with a fear of the entire pregnancy and labor process. It is well documented.
My studies have shown a very different aspect of this process which is very shamanistic, very directly spiritual as we literally make all new people who must enter the world through our bodies, and also something akin to the psychedelic experiences that I’ve had in terms of how it immediately connects us after having a baby to all other people and creatures. It did for me anyway. I’ve always thought the reason men climb mountains or start wars is because they don’t completely understand the immense difficulty of bringing just one new person into being. Theoretically there may be understanding however the embodied experience of doing so is something that is lacking in cultural awareness, actively discouraged by medicine, and absolutely holds many missing dimensions of this question of “Who are we?”
So, just a little bit of my frustration and ugh has been relieved by expressing this, I hope you take it to heart. Not a criticism but the extension of one more corner of this square that’s been missing from traditional philosophical circles for way too long. ❤ Hera

Exactly, i think it is in your head AND outside at the same time. Like something there and outside of us already but appears to us in a way we can comprehend.
Mathematically, the 4D would exist around and through the 3D. It feels kind of like you’re entering that space

Or like how we comprehend it is like a moving inkblot test

Speaking of tree growth strategies... Seems like us modern humans have made the decision to do the fast growth plan, with our science and technology pushing our economies, societies and cultures to adapt or else. Psychedelics seem to be part of this in some way, at least in the west. It is hard to find "ground" right now. The compass is spinning. Hopefully our incredible growth spurt is wise. Me thinks a late spring hard frost might be on the way. We're due for one.
