@@FullTimeDevils Due to the rebuild, not only of the squad but the attitudes. I said from the day ETH was announced as manager that we judge him after the 3rd season - I think if this season and last season were switched round he'd be getting hailed as a brilliant manager. There will be downs as well as ups, it's a rebuild, they take time and there will be blips. I'd be looking more at the medical dept and how they're doing things - such as telling ETH in Jan that Shaw and Malacia would both be back that month so he let Reguillon go back to Spurs, we got Shaw back for what? 1+half games and Malacia hasn't kicked a ball all season...as well as the ridiculous amount of injuries we've had all season.

I get the feeling that Bruno can easily pull a Scholes and play at the top level for another 10 years. Hes never relied on pace, and as his stamina starts to drop off, i can definitely see him doing the old quarterback thing and letting somebody else do the running for him.
I guess success would depend largely on who we bring in to play around him. I doubt it would work if in 5-6 years time, hes still surrounded by people who are scared of the ball in possession and leave gaping holes in midfield for opponents to waltz into. But if Maino reaches his obvious potential, and we manage to find the next Casemiro/kante/makelele/busquets type, i see no reason why Bruno should only have a couple of years left.

I’m in no rush to sack ETH but I’m struggling to get beyond some of his comments in recent months. He sounds deluded sometimes and I don’t believe it’s a language issue. The players are no longer dragged out for runs on their days off when we’ve been outrun by the opposition (which is regularly still) and that inconsistency in the manager is a concern. We still have no style of play and the pressing isn’t consistent anymore and that can’t all be blamed on injuries. The club has broken plenty of terrible records during his tenure so far and that shouldn’t be dismissed easily. He has a year left (I think it was a 3 year deal) so I’m not uncomfortable giving him a final season but if things are piss poor by Christmas he has to go. Forget lines for offside. Quick eye test if Linesman unsure. Unless players is a rough half yard ahead of defender. Goal stands. Give the attackers the benefit. More excitement in games, quicker and it's fair. A Lino can't tell if someone is a fingernail offside, so why use that metric with VAR ref to decide.

For me, offside and handball are the 2 big ones. Offside should ONLY be feet. You’re asking athletes in motion natural either have to time a run so their forward posture while running must be changed to running straight up and down WITH NO ARM MOVEMENT. “His shoulder” or “his arm” was beyond the line,” now constitutes offside. Ridiculous.
As for diving, start giving warnings and yellow cards for diving and that crap will stop. EVERY player does it multiple times a game. Maybe have another color card as a warning to stop diving, then a yellow. OR, have a dedicated “diving checker” in the booth so the game can continue and announce the outcome of the dive check be posted on the stadiums big screen and so the sideline referee can note it.
    Just a couple of suggestions.

I don't want to get rid of VAR completely, just set clearer rules. Put simply set a 5-10 second window for them to review the footage and then make a decision. If you can't see if the ref was wrong in 10 seconds, then it's not clear and obvious, so stick with the decision. If you can see in 10 seconds "he's clearly offside" or "he clearly kicked his leg and tripped him" then you overrule the ref. 10 seconds is plenty of time if a clear and obvious mistake has been made. Otherwise leave the ref to ref

Back the manager. It's obvious injuries have played a crucial part in this season. You see what happens to City when they lose Rodri - that's one player. One player. You saw what happened to Liverpool when Van Dijk and Gomez were out - that two players. When Newcastle lost half their team. But Utd miss 3/4 of their first team and you're either actively calling for him to be sacked or running endless stories about how he's "probably going to be sacked."
He will turn it around next year and then we'll have fans crawling out of the woodwork claiming they were always behind the gaffer!
He's not deluded Joe. He just knows a lot more about the game than you will ever know mate

  • @mike.ratcliffe
    @mike.ratcliffe หลายเดือนก่อน

Before VAR there were lots of terrible decisions and fans felt rightfully robbed.
I think VAR really can help here but the VAR refs need to be former refs or players... it seems like they are currently using people that don't know the rules or recognize when a player has taken a dive, so we get the kind of inconsistencies we have seen lately with handballs etc.
It could also be that there should be more methodical ways to judge e.g. what is and what isn't a handball.
I defo think that anything that can be reliably done automatically should be, but it will be a long time before VAR can judge e.g. whether a push has been done in a careless or reckless manner or with excessive force.
Maybe a team's head coach etc. should be able to see VAR footage, but that would be hard because some decisions will always be subjective.

For VAR my idea is three refs watch the game separately so you can always get a majority vote. They have 60 seconds from the incident to decide. If no decision is taken they follow the on field ref.
On top of this the onfield ref runs the game with the instruction of var coming in either if he has missed something completely because it’s off the ball or out of his eyesight or when he wants confirmation on big calls ie, penalties.
I think with these changes it could function properly, can’t be worse at least 😅

    EtH out.
    1) he f-ed up with his tactics. 3-1-6 which we saw since day 1.
    2) he f-ed up with his signings bar licha
    3) he clashed with too many players. And players that never clashed with others managers bar Sancho.
    4) Mistakes in judgement are shining. We are very lucky that players he tried to force out; shone and saved his job. Maguire and McT rejected moves; and Amad rejecting loan.
    5) he definitely f-ed up his training regiment. Rushing back the likes of Licha; Rashford; Bruno; Mount etc.
I dont get it. Rashford tries. Plays for us with a bad back. And has succeeded before. EtH only succeeded because of Rashford's goals.

SJR wants United to play in a certain way.. and I think that style matches what Ajax had when Ten Hag was there. I think Ten Hag will be United manager next season.. and rightly so. Sacking him does not make any financial sense right now. Also, United’s top management will now be very structured, the incoming players will be targeted based on a set tactic and profile.. regardless of the manager. So even if United keep Ten Hag next season and then sack him, the core processes will remain the same.. the next manager will be chosen based on set parameters. So Ten Hag will be here imo.

The tech is fine. The officials, rules & lack of oversight & separation of powers is the issue. Specialists are needed.
Its very lazy to blame the tech then shift to people using it like Joe does here.
