    ----------------------------------------------------------------
The DEWALT 20V Cordless Dry Hand Vacuum (DCV501H) is a job site/home solution that provides users with a small mobile package and powerful performance (46 CFM).
This small vacuum works well to pick up common Jobsite debris ranging from drywall dust to small screws and nails. It will clog up with larger materials because it has a 1-3/8" OD inlet hose.
The DEWALT DCV501H vacuum comes with 6 different cleaning attachment accessories to tackle any cleaning job from floor level to overhead.
The hand vacuum can be used to handle smaller messes or used in combination with the extension tube and floor accessory to clean up floor areas. A bright LED light illuminates the darkest areas.
A Washable HEPA Filter allows for clean efficient cleanup of fine dust and drywall and follows OSHA Table 1 Compliance under housekeeping rules. It comes fully equipped with an extension tube, floor nozzle, flexible hose, crevice nozzle, gulper brush, round brush, belt hook, accessory holder, and HEPA filter.
Up to 21.4 minutes of runtime per charge using DCB205 battery.

I have one for about a week now and the one flaw that I noticed is there is no prefilter. Lots of complaints about the difficulty in cleaning between the pleats on the hepa filter. So after a little research, I cut a piece of old carbon foam filter from my air purifier, wrapped it around the Dewalt hepa filter, held on by a couple rubber bands. Works great and the hepa filter stays clean.

TBH, I didn't watch any videos or read any reviews before I got mine today at Lowe's. I just needed a hand vac for cat litter, dusting, and light work to use with my 20v DeWalt batteries. Wow, am I surprised with what I got. I didn't think it would have as much suction as it does. This was an great buy...esp with military discount and tax free at Lowe's. Saved $15 and no tax to boot. Glad I got it...so many more uses than what I got it for.

Quite surprised and happy with its performance in the applications that I've intended/have used it for. The girlfriend enjoy using it to clean out the truck and around the house. Performance is noticeably better than the Bosch hand vac equivalent that I will now happily get rid of.
You can slide and remove the brushes from the guzzler attachment if desired.

Got mine from Acme. I have actually purchased all DeWalt 20v vacuums and DeWalt by far makes the worst vacuums on the market. I actually started clearing out a lot of my battery platforms and DeWalt won so I sold all other platforms except Ryobi and DeWalt with DeWalt being the majority and Ryobi for novelty items and sadly the vacuum was yet another factor in keeping Ryobi around. Ryobi is actually releasing a "Shark Duoclean type" vacuum that looks great. I truly wish DeWalt would get on board with some decent vacuum cleaners. They have the 60v battery system and could easily come up with a shop vac that could compete with Rigids industry leader shop vac and Ryobis hand vacs. DeWalt, if you read this or are looking for insight, fire whoever is designing your cordless vacuums and hire the guys from Ryobi or Rigid. Your cordless vacuums are the weak link in your product line bar none.

Finally. You’re the only one I’ve found who mentioned the DeWALT proprietary dust extractor connection. I was only interested in it to use with my DCS438 cut-off tool. Seems I need an adapter anyway so I have no reason to go with this over our Dyson cordless handheld. On that note, I wish it worked more like Dyson for dumping its contents through a hinged door without splitting into multiple pieces.

Wood chips, leaves pine needles etc. clogs this thing immediately. The intake is only 1 inch inner diameter and there's tight clearance between the inlet and the filter. Anything bigger than about a half inch jams between the inlet and filter. The vacuum power is underwhelming. The dust bin holds about a pint but the filter will clog long before it's full. Calling it a work site vacuum is a stretch but it's handy & convenient for small (very small) jobs around the house. 2 stars out of 5.

    • @WorkshopAddict

Have you ever wore out the brushes in a battery operated vacuum? Is the efficiency of a brushless system worth the extra cost? IMHO, brushless motors became a marketing term for companies to charge more and in many cases did not provide a lot of benefit to most consumers.

The damned filter looks like it’s been through hell after 20 minutes. That I don’t like. It’s a pain the ass to clean well. You almost need two fiters. My filter is shredding up after only a week. The filters are like 15 20 bucks too. Other than that, the vacuome works well. What’s this HEPA obsession? That more BS to freak out the half witted masses. I just want a damned sponge filter that I can’t clean easily.

@@Erix7810 someone suggested to me to put a coffee filter over it.I cover it and use a rubbeeband to hold it. It helps because it's easier to clean. All the garbage doesn't get trapped in the pleats with no way out. He'll, I have to take a regular vacuum and suck the dirt out of the pleats, or hit it with a strong jet of water and soak it, then I toss it in dryer washer and spin cycle it to whip out the water ( I don't have a dryer).
