Not many people in the world give us (Baby Boomers) the credit we deserve for accomplishing what they think we can't do. Yes, it keeps us mentally alert, and that slows down the aging process.
Heck yes! This reminded me that regardless of what we've been told, how we define and execute our own success is limited by our age, we can do what we want, whenever we want, to help ourselves to continue to grow!
Connie's words make me feel like the sky's the limit even in retirement. It's reassuring to know that support is available for aspiring older entrepreneurs.
I love this topic and age is not a number to be ashamed of! Instead, it has to be a measure of experience, of loss and of triumphs! Don't be afraid to go out and get your passion and vocation started! Tap in with like-minded persons like myself to build your resume, transferable skills and business plans. It's about your mindset, not the money.
Thoroughly appreciate challenging the preconceived notions about retirement. It's true that society tends to underestimate the potential of older adults.
Starting a business in retirement actually sounds like the ideal - if the setup and support is there and a clear definition of what I want out of it - wow! I see limitless potential!! Thank you Connie!
After hearing Connie, I'm excited about the prospect of pursuing my passions after retirement. Thinking that your age doesn't limit your possibilities is a great approach!
I appreciate the mindset - that being in the later stages of your life doesn't mean you should give up on your passions. I don't know how practical it is for everyone though. If you aren't super successful in your first career it doesn't really set you up well for your "2nd act"
Of course, it's not for everyone. But in your 2nd act, you have less fear of failure. By this age, we have all failed many times and just need to know that failure could be a stepping stone to success!
I agree with Connie that retirement doesn't have to mean the end of ambition and meaningful activities. It can be a new beginning, where you explore entrepreneurship and discover a whole new world of possibilities
Age should never be a barrier to entrepreneurship. History is filled with inspiring stories of individuals who started successful businesses later in life, proving that it's never too late to follow your entrepreneurial dreams
Excellent message Connie!! I believe that we become old when we quit learning and starting out on a new path is the best thing you can do! Thinking outside of the proverbial box gives you a life without limits!! Incredible job of explaining that age is only a number and life is a wonderful journey if you are not afraid to travel the unfamiliar highway! Absolutely one of my top ten Ted Talks!
ntrepreneurship after retirement is not just about financial gain but also about leaving a legacy. By sharing your knowledge and skills with others, you can make a lasting impact on your community and inspire future generations
Thanks for watching, Adelaide! ❤! Yes, it's a huge concern for retirees. Not only does pursuing entrepreneurship keep you active, but it also can supplement your pension!
Hearing about the Small Business Administration and free SCORE Mentor support makes starting a business sound less intimidating. Connie might be onto something!
Hearing about Connie's journey reminds me of my grandfather who started a small woodworking shop after retiring. It's never too late to pursue passions!
Starting a business after retirement requires a strong support system. Surrounding yourself with mentors, fellow entrepreneurs, and like-minded individuals can provide guidance, inspiration, and a sense of community as you embark on your entrepreneurial journey
I have been stressing about my parents and their retirement plans but I love imagining how they could find new purpose after retirement. Starting a business sounds like an adventure!
I've always viewed retirement is a time to explore your passions and do what brings you joy. If starting a business aligns with your interests and values, it can be an incredibly rewarding experience, allowing you to pursue your dreams on your own terms
🎉 very well done Connie very proud of you I could go on and on about my life after retirement and I was very happy with it but I was not an entrepreneur but I am sure there's a lot of people out there that will want to follow your road to success thank you for your presentation it was excellent I will share it with others knowing that I know Connie
There is so much value in this talk. As I listen I'm thinking about my thinking around my own ageing process. Ageing means changing, and the world is also ageing and changing. Plus there are new generations to become a part of ageing, conditioning, reconditioning or unconditioning. Inside my head I'm relating to my old stories, looking for what life once was, who I was and the youth that carried me in a whole different way. At 14, I remember wanting to be 16 so I could drive a car. When I was younger, I wanted to be older because of life's opportunities. Well I've been there and done that, and repeating many of the same things today. Today is the only place to continue ageing and changing and remembering not who I was, but who I am becoming. Thank you Connie for your inspiration.
Thank you for your insightful reflections. Growing older is a time to reflect, but let's not lose our youthful spirit along with the wisdom we've acquired.
Entrepreneurship in retirement offers the freedom to work on your own schedule and pursue projects that truly inspire you. It's a chance to build something meaningful and contribute to society in a unique way.
I can't even imagine how much AMAZING information there is hidden in our post-retirement population. If you're a post-retiree, we NEED you wisdom!! I LOVE this!
Starting a business at the age of 70 might seem daunting to some, but it's never too late to pursue your dreams and find fulfillment as an entrepreneur
I agree that retirement can be an opportunity to turn your passions into a business venture! Whether it's leveraging your skills from a previous career or exploring new interests, it's obvious to me why entrepreneurship would be be a fulfilling way to spend your retirement years
Thank you for watching my TEDx talk, Katie! I'm thinking about ordering a T-shirt that says "Passion has no expiration date." You look young, but I'll send you one when you get older...so you STAY YOUNG!
There are no guarantees in life, but that doesn't mean we have to live in fear. Thank you so much for these amazing and inspirational stories Connie! They are proof that it doesn't matter what age we're at, we can still live life on our terms and realize our dreams.
While I can see how retirement planning is important, I think it's also essential to be able to adapt and remain flexible. Life can throw unexpected challenges and if we don't have the right mindset it can be really difficult to overcome them.
This talk is great. So inspiring. I love the point you made about the assumption of being old means being inactive. I totally agree that retirement can be a time to reinvent yourself. I just retired and I’m ready to reinvent myself and live my o life with passion.
Well Connie, outstanding talk...you are the rock star of our boomer years. Knowing you all these years makes your ideas and dreams that more real. See you in August!❤
Financial planners play a crucial role in retirement, but it's also important to involve your loved ones, like your children, who can provide valuable support and guidance in managing your finances and making sound decisions
Becoming an entrepreneur after retirement can be an empowering journey, providing a sense of purpose and self-fulfillment. It's an opportunity to prove that age is just a number and that you can achieve great things at any stage of life.
So many good points! Great talk, Connie! Entrepreneurship offers so many opportunities and they don't have to be 40 hours a week. Retirement is a good time to follow those things we are passionate about. We are never too old to learn.
Her enthusiasm is definitely infectious, I wonder if entrepreneurship is feasible for everyone at that age. It's been a challenge for me that's for sure!
Not everyone may be interested in starting a business after retirement, and that's perfectly fine. Retirement is about doing what makes you happy and fulfilled. Whether it's starting a business or pursuing other hobbies, the choice is yours
This is a really cool approach to retirement! People often have trouble giving themselves permission to follow their passion - reframing it as entrepreneurship is a great idea.
Connie is blessed to have her son helping her make good financial decisions and developing a healthy spending mindset. I've heard some real horror stories about what can happen to retirees when they don't have that kind of support from family
Congratulations Connie. Thank you for sharing the realness of what can happen after retirement and the benefits of finding our passions. Job well done! 🥰🎁💝
Entrepreneurship can provide a sense of purpose and a fulfilling retirement lifestyle. It allows you to channel your creativity, explore new passions, and make a positive impact in your community
Great presentation that will change my life, now I have goals to pursue which will enrich my future with activities and additional income. Recommend this video as part of your retirement planning research.
You are a POWERHOUSE!!! This is such great information! I’m definitely taking notes… I don’t want to make the same mistakes Marcia made. 😬 And thank God for your son! ❤️ Thank you so much for sharing!
While entrepreneurship can offer numerous benefits, it's important to weigh the risks and rewards. Starting a business requires careful planning, market research, and a realistic understanding of the challenges involved. I don't know that everyone of retirement age has the kind of energy that's required for it
True that not everyone has that kind of energy. I would have never thought that I could start two businesses at age 70! Thanks for your comment and for watching my TEDx talk.
Amazing talk, Connie 👏 This is a must-watch for those who are about to retire or in retirement. Such an eye-opener filled with value bombs. Not retiring anytime soon, but will keep this in mind once I do ❤️
While I know entrepreneurship can be exciting, I think it's essential to consider the financial implications, and always seek professional advice first. Proper financial planning and understanding the risks involved make all the difference between long-term success and giving up because it's too hard
Had a good giggle when she said people started giving her advice about what to do in retirement. My mom has people coming out of the woodwork now she's retired. How rude.
Entrepreneurship is not for everyone, and that's okay. Retirement is a time to enjoy life and do what makes you happy. Whether it's starting a business, volunteering, or pursuing personal interests, the key is to find fulfillment in your chosen path
I'm all for staying active, but entrepreneurship at 70? Is that realistic for most people? I'm not sure I'm convinced. Also if it's that easy to do why wait until retirement?
I don't know if it's realistic for "most" people, but it's working for me. Keeps me learning. Of course, you can start a business without waiting for retirement. I was a teacher, and I loved that job. I'm glad I had a job I liked and a new career that I love. Thank you for watching my TEDx talk and for your comment.
Connie's message about staying mentally active through entrepreneurship is thought-provoking. Retirement doesn't have to mean slowing down.
Let's change the way people look at older people!
What a dynamic message for the baby boomers.

Connie, you're paving the way for that shift in perspective, for too long we have been stuck inside the limitations of our conditioning.
WOW! Thanks for your comment!
Connie is an inspiration to anyone wanting more from retirement than baby sitting their grandchildren.
I love babysitting my grandchildren, AND I love taking care of myself and my dreams!
Connie's talk resonates with me. Retirement doesn't mean the end of ambitions. It's heartwarming to see her embracing new opportunities.
I gave my talk so that people over 55 can see that it's not too late to pursue their dreams!

I'm 64 and still in business. No one can beat our life and business experience.

While I admire Connie's spirit, I have my doubts about the feasibility of entrepreneurship at 70. It sounds like a lot of hard work.
It IS a lot of work, but it keeps my mind active in learning new things that younger people take for granted.
