      Thanks Thomas! We really appreciate all the hard work you’ve put into the videos sharing your build, as we regularly watch them to prepare for that step. I don’t want to spoil it, but keep an eye out for episode 2!

    Love the choice of the Daytona, and that garage space is incredible. Looking forward to following your journey.

    Looking forward to following your build. Suggest waiting until you have the car on the ground before torqueing any control arms.

    It looks better than 95% of the stuff on the road even without a chassis and wheels

    Did you do the complete kit or base? I have been looking at getting a coupe in the next 2 years. I just went on the FF website and a complete with good additional options was hitting $39k.

      This is the complete kit plus some parts from the R. We decided not to go full R because we want to drive it on the street and didn’t think the DMV would be too keen on the extra bracing across the windscreen. Good luck on acquiring your kit! This is a great community of builders and our experience with Factory Five has been awesome.

    Thanks for taking time to edit & post your videos. Looking good. I'm a few weeks ahead of you with my Coupe project; engine installed, speedometer calibrated, ready to begin body work. One bite at a time. Keep the videos coming. Do you allow visitors to come see your project?

    • @Walton_Racing

      Hey John, thanks for the kind words and congrats on the progress of your build! We really appreciate the quote “One bite at a time” because it is the philosophy we follow with our build. I believe there are some out there that are interested in building one of these cars, but hesitate because the feel like they might get overwhelmed.
      *To those reading this and thinking about building one of these cars: My brothers, dad, and I have 0 experience building cars, ZERO. Sure we have a good foundation of mechanical knowledge, but anyone willing to put the time and effort in can do this. Plus there is a great community of builders and a supportive company in Factory Five to learn from. You can do this!*
      As far as visitors to the shop, we’re not quite ready yet, as we’re still working on the construction of our space. This is something we’ll think about offering in the future.

      I had the pleasure of meeting Thomas at his shop (Oak Hollow Garage); he and I were on pace with one another with our respective projects. I had originally ordered a Blue Point 347 like what Thomas put into his Coupe, but things happened long before I got my motor from Blue Print and I wound up with a Coyote. A California builder has a fantastic series of youtube videos under this name: Cobra Daytona Build. Yup - he should have named his channel Coupe Daytona Build, but oh well. I'm completing my project in Virginia. You guys are welcome to stop by if you are ever nearby. JDW

    Looks good! FYI, you want to torque the nut, not the bolt. Doing it the way you did in the video on the control arm gives less than accurate torque reading.

    • @Walton_Racing
      @Walton_Racing  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks, good catch, but in this case since the bolt head and nut face have the same diameter and the contact surfaces are the same, giving the same coefficient of friction, would it matter?

    • @wrenchrat
      @wrenchrat 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Walton_Racing Its the resistance inside the shaft area of the bolt (where it goes thru the bushing) that will affect the torque readings, despite the head size itself being the same. Every once in a while this is unavoidable on certain vehicles, due to difficult access points, but putting the torque wrench on the bolt head and not the nut can result in torque readings being artificially higher than what they actually are. Basically, you can under-torque the fastener.

    • @Walton_Racing
      @Walton_Racing  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That makes sense, thanks for the conversation and the words of wisdom.

      @@Walton_Racing Welcome! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the build. My dream is to build one of these, some day.

    Can you put like a Foxbody or another ford old school 5.0 engine in there. Not 🚫 a Coyote though. & Will fit?

    • @Walton_Racing
      @Walton_Racing  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can absolutely run a 302 and will have more room to work with than you would with the Coyote. Our build theme is a modern take on a classic design, which is why we went with that engine.
