      @nathanav1634 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Immigration is a net benefit to the economy, but a cultural drawback. You've bought into the false narrative that it weakens the economy. Go watch Jacob Rees Mogg's recent interview with The Times where he confirms it is a net benefit - using that as the reason why governments have allowed mass immigration, where he sees it as causing cultural rather than economic harm. Your comment paints a picture though, are you aware of the Dunning-Kruger effect? :P

      @@pressuredrop6173I'm assuming he's talking about TB (how very apt 😂) and Jack Straw deciding to not exercise its right to restrict EU immigrants coming into UK in 2004 when the block of 8 joined, Poland etc. Germany and France did but the dynamic duo decided it would be unfriendly and they massively under estimated the amount of people who came. Leading ultimately to ill feeling in some parts (the ones most affected by it) and a backlash against the concept of open borders. A Brexit vote and global immigrants coming in now from France - although why being in the EU would stop it baffles me. Everywhere else has the same problem incl. Ireland and Germany too who are now cracking down hard, after 'everyone welcome'.
      At least I think that's what he was referring to.

But as time went on and Blair focused on military adventures Brown started to duff up the economy. This meant that having taken power when things were on the right path, they left a big mess for the Tories to clean up in 2010. The world is certainly in the process of realigning. It always is.
      The first real period of ‘globalisation’ was the British Empire, then it was the American Empire.
      Soon, hegemony will have to be shared. The Americans will remain in situ but will have to share with China (obviously) and the India. A powerful, united Europe could conceivably occupy a fourth spot at the table.
      Those four - +Russia - will be the five seated at the UN Security Council table in the Global Chamber.
      We just have to adapt as best we can and prepare. For instance, my two sons are learning Mandarin. And our country is not short of either Hindi speakers and Indian goodwill.
      Pipeline? Don’t give a monkeys who did it. Don’t know who did it and neither do you.
