- SCP 001 is an Apollyon Class anomaly also known as When Day Breaks.
Dr Bright is a Personnel Director and anomaly also known as SCP 963 .
SCP-001 is the designation given to the Sun, after an event occurred that resulted in roughly 6.8 billion casualties within the first twenty-four hours. Upon contact with visible light produced by SCP 001, living organisms liquefy at the point of contact, with the effect spreading until the entire organism is converted into a form resembling melted wax. Organisms exposed to SCP001 though, do not perish.
Doctor Bright is not allowed physical contact with any intelligent, living SCP not classified as Safe. Dr Jack Bright has proven highly resistant to psychic and emotional manipulation possibly due to his relationship with SCP-963. Whether this is natural, or a function of SCP963, is both unknown, and untestable.

Can we just appreciate the fact that, despite all his misgivings, Dr Bright is trusted enough to have the contact information of an O5. On a side note, a horrifying side effect is that the lack of exposure to sunlight will cause a deficiency in vitamin D and an increase of cases of depression (more than the trauma of everything would already create). Thankfully, plants are not affected, which means its not a scenario that is impossible to be overcome.
This is why we have powdered, vitamin D fortified whole milk stored up at each site.

Plants are physically unstable I think
Even though we have vitamin d supplement but lack of sunlight can effect human biological clock.
Because human required natural light to regulate sleep and hormone. (Mood as well)
Lack of sunlight for long periods of time even if they received vitamin d supplement also can effect sleep and hormone regulation.
However it not really a problems.
Because we have artificial sunlight and stuff.
The fact that plants is not effected is very good new.
Because we can just farming at night and harvesting at night.
While having automatic watering system taking care of the crops during the daytime.
And it a very good source of vitamin, protein from legumes which can replace protein from meat.
(Because I think animal outside is a ball of pudding now)

@@frozenfiredarknight3764 yes, after all we know that Jack does not depend on his own body to stay alive, as long as the horde touched the medallion, he would be able to control it, I think he only played because the horde was still far away
The fact that the medallion managed to overwrite the blob hivemind without even any mental pushback, just how powerful is the medallion, really?
the medallion cancels out any anomalous effects, such as the hivemind of the blobs and the sun. if the medallion is on something, it’s dr bright now.

Weird to see a normally jokey character like bright in such a grim situation. but damn... I thought bright had a chance to keep hold of things for a while there, and then they dropped the bomb of able teaming up with the other scps while he's trying to protect civilians... The tension really gets ratcheted up so intensely in this one. Good work to the writer I have to say. Not to mention the scp explained team.
Well really, Dr. Bright IS a grim character. He's just jokey because that's how he copes with the curse of his existence.
Bright is a tragic character. His whole family is either dead by the Foundation or are all under "containment". Top it off. For a while, after he became basically immortal. He was routinely executed on a monthly bases. All to keep his anomalous in check. (Though I believe that was reconed.)
And him cracking jokes is a defensive mechanism to keep any sense of control. If he doesn't joke. You know shit is bad....
@DripTrollKing There was a story. At one site that Dr. Bright was at. He accidentally broke the arm off of a Cat Statue (forgot the SCP name). To which caused everyone for the most part to black out. And upon waking up. Everyone ended up becoming Jake Bright. And all of them wanted to kill the real Jack Bright...well besides Dr. Clef, he was just playing along.

Moonlight is just reflected sunlight, and it's explicitly mentioned in the daybreak stories that night time is not a safe time to travel in open areas

I feel like Jack Bright is pretty much the only one who could bring some "Normalcy" To the after the Day Break Scenario. He in theory could use the amulet to take over every slime monster out there or fuse with them then move them all into an SCP ship large enough to move all of them in take the amulet off and shoot that version of bright into the sun that created it. It wont stop others from melting but it will bring the threat down significantly

All the slime monsters that come in contact with it will identify as “the real Jack Bright”. Although they may become somewhat more cooperative they will likely not consent to being killed or having the amulet taken from them before the JB conscious is merged with the slime body.
I love how in most Day Breaks with Dr. Bright it has him take over the blob creatures.

If Dr Bright took over one of the creatures, that means that the Foundation has a cooperative test subject to figure out the weakness of the blob creatures, plus someone who can do recon work during the day.
Personally, I am curious what the Sun Sister is up to during this whole thing.

That would only be a temporary solution though. When Abel dies the effect would disappear, and he might reappear out of the box instantly

Yes, with the body immune to the apocalypse Dr. Bright could restart the world with no problems.
That is a solution actually. Bright can use the medallion to take over the 001-A creatures and control it. But it raise some questions though, since the medallion would normally erased the hosts' mind. Will the 001-A creatures' mind will also get erased by the medallion? If it was, then Bright could easily toss the Medallion to every 001-A creatures on the planet and killing their minds, Ultimately saving humanity since the survivors will no longer have to worry about the creatures anymore.

This is by far my favorite part of the day breaks storyline.

😁i have always been a sucker for dark humor, especially when it's used during a stressful time and humor is more of a coping skill then. Dr. Bright getting that win and also turning into weird fleshy tendrils monster. THis was a damn good when day breaks episode.
A plus side of this situation and it being the end of the world and whatnot, there ain't nothin stopping Dr. Bright from wandering around outside and essentially using a city as a playground AND hunting ground! \o/! He can also, ya know, help any survivors he may or may not find and assist them through the other fleshy monsters that are wandering around.
I really want to see a series set in this universe where dr. Bright goes around collecting scp bodies in some attempt to stop the sun or at least protect everyone from it

If SCP 343 was at Site 19, why would Dr Bright be worried about feeding all the refugees in the facility? Isn't SCP 343 a powerful rule bender who could conjure up endless amounts of food and resources?

@@celestailthecosmosdragon430 i guess the ramifications for that would be disastrous to do instantly. So it would take a bit more time. As if he even turns off or destroys the sun then all the planets will fly outwards and earth would freeze instantly.
