thank you soooo much for this video....i had to do the same thing to the same car and all the videos that i've seen they had everything pulled out and the manual that i used was telling me to remove a whole bunch of things...now i have the car all gutted up and i still haven't taken the blower motor out after 2 hours working on it....now i have to go back there tomorrow and put everything back together and do it your way...thank you for your video.

Thought you were on drugs not removing brake pedal, but after a little squirming around and a create for my back, I was able to remove it. Thank you.

You're very welcome, LOL. Yeah I think I was sore for a couple days from all the contorting I had to do. My arms also looked like I had been a couple of rounds with the neighborhood tomcat. Definitely a PITA but well worth the money saved. Thanks for watching!

Hey...I know this is an old video but felt obliged to say "Thank you!" Followed the instructions and it definitely helped. And as someone else posted I did not remove the gas pedal and was still able to get to the motor...put the car seat all the flat and back, put a flashlight under the dash and laid flat on my back. Everything about this was a PIA but it can be done. I don't work on cars and was able to do this in a couple of hours.

... there is a tab on it at about 2 o'clock that you pull out then rotate the ring to the right (Clockwise) to release the blower motor. Before releasing the blower motor pull off the white tube that is attached(Pull Hard), once the tube is off pushing it to the side makes it easier to get the resistor out. Now release the blower motor, this makes it easier to get to the plug on the blower, the plug release is on the left, you have to press the release tab really hard then pull the plug out.

thanks, for taking the time to make your video, was very helpful. i was able to clean the blower fan part. i was able to get the outside air vent off from watching your video. i used a small handheld mirror to find the top screw. squirrels had filled the outside vent with acorns. put in heavy gauge wire screen in the firewall to make sure they can't get in the air vent again. working great now.

OK for all of us lucky people with right hand drive models ...our life is simple :) don't take anything to bits if you need to replace the resistor ...just open the drivers door move the drivers seat back..look where the clutch pedal is and right behind it is the resistor, held in by 2 phillips screws... a 10 min job :)

Sorry for not replying sooner, sure you've figured this out by now but just in case... On the driver's side there is a plastic ring on the back side of the blower that holds it in place. just turn that (counter clockwise if I remember correctly) to remove it and the motor will release. Then just pull it out from the passenger side. The ring can be seen in the video at 8:03 just sticking out from under the seat.
    Regards
P.S. If that is you in the pic thank you for your service.

So, I'm trying this fix on my son's 2004 Mazda 3. I cant remove the resistor as I cannot get to the top screw. Have removed the brake pedal and still have no clearance. I cleaned the area of those flat fuses in the engine area and noticed when I tap around the fuse box the fan will work intermittently, even without changing the resistor giving me the impression the problem is in the fuse area and not the resistor although I do not see this as being an issue anywhere on the internet. Any suggestions? All help is appreciated.

Currently attempting this repair and I have two questions for you. 1. Is it possible to access the 12mm bolt on the blower motor resistor from the hole after you remove the blower motor/wheel because I removed the gas and brake pedal and my hands are still way too big to get in there. 2. How did you determine that the resistor and the blowe motor were faulty or are you replacing the motor as a precautionary measure?

I got this pipe off, don't know how but it went somhehow. I checked motor and its fine and working; I looked for resistor all over the place but couldn't find it. It is not there where you have it, I have only white plastic cover no screws, empty place.... I have Mazda 3, 2005.
I removed cabin air filter and found a surprise inside... wrench 15. After I removed motor and blower I heard noise that wrench is falling and I thought that some of my fall out from a car. Later I discovered that some mechanic had to drop it on last mechanic check in vent and this block the motor... :)
After a day I had enough and put all back together yesterday, and now all is working.

Thanks for the video. Yes, I was able to reach in there even without removing the gas pedal. I am almost there and the only missing step is unplugging the wires from the motor, how did you manage to unplug this? Is there a push pin somewhere?

+Edward Manalansan I can't remember if there were tabs that had to pulled to the side or if the sides had to be pressed in at the same time. I do recall however, that it was a PITA! Which I'm sure that you are experiencing as well. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, been about 3 1/2 years now since I did this.

Once the plug is removed the blower motor is free and easily removed from the passengers side. Ok, about the goof. At 6:05 in the video that plug actually plugs into the air box that I showed you just before that. The light for the glove compartment is hanging off to the left as you can see in the video.

Question: I have done everything shown here but still cannot get my blower motor out. Is there a bolt I'm not seeing holding it in? I've disconnected the cooling pipe and it still wont come lose. Any ideas?

I only remove the gas pedal on the driver side the way I did it was sitting and laying all the way on the passenger side having my head on the driver side and than all the way touching the brake pedal with my head and remove everything with my left hand it sounds difficult but is a lot easier than removing all that staff they mention in the videos also you can hold from the dash board with your right hand try it before you disassemble all the car of course you have to remove all they said on the passenger side good luck

@Ray T. Are you refering to the top screw on the resistor?

How do debris like leaves get in that space in the first place?
Is it through outside the windshield? TIA! :)

+Tim S There's that big opening at 4:40 in the video where the blower motor housing is mounted. Not sure exactly how they work their way to that opening. I had quite a few leaves in mine, but at the time I lived where there were lots of trees and the leaves were insane, they would get into everywhere! Hope the video was helpful and thanks for watching!

Here are a couple of things I forgot to mention and one goof that needs correcting. (1)The only thing the short screwdriver is used for is to remove the lower screw that holds in the resistor, you cannot see the screw head so you just have to put the screwdriver near the head and move it around until it catches. (2) At 1:41 in the video you will see a white plastic ring under the seat, that ring is what holds the blower motor in place, it does not have screws, ...

Mazda is WAY over-charging and committing labor time fraud. The part is $42, so let's say the dealer charges $120 for the part - that still leaves $1273 for labor, which at $95 an hour is 13 hours!!! Being I have removed ALL this stuff on the passenger side (i.e. NOT the gas petal) to change my cabin air-filter in 1 hour as a novice, this job should probably take an expert no more than 2 hours... and should be quoted around $330. Do this dealer charge $800 to change the cabin air filter????

Hi, thanks for this video. But I have still question, I did all you did but some "small" details are missing. On Blower motor is on driver side mouted plastic pipe (ca 2cm dick), how did you unplug this pipe? I was trying to get it out for 2 hours but couldn't do it.
    Need help?!

    • @computerrebooter
      @computerrebooter  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Matej Končina Sorry, just saw your question. Hope you got it off. It's a pain in the butt, but you just have to keep pilling at it and working it and it will come off. No tools are needed.

Simple said. BS. are you Mini Me? there is no way unless you have skinny girl arms that are 4 ft long. I worked for Mazda for 4 years and no one does it this way.

Ray Mond It's a simple matter of intelligence and thinking outside of the box. One of which you apparently don't have and the other of which you are apparently incapable of. I bet you need a service manual to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Tell your friends at Mazda hello, and bite me.

Thanks for this vid but I still cannot find the resistor in my '08 Mazda3. I thought this vid might show me where it was hiding. I'll keep looking! lol!
