Great advice and spot-on. A couple of months ago I decided to stop dressing like a cholo from 1995. Getting my clothes tailored to fit properly has been the biggest game-changer. Now starting out I made the mistake of buying a lot of clothes did I wound up not wearing because I just didn't feel right in them. I now think things through before I purchase an item. I get compliments on my style everywhere I go now, especially with the dress shoes.

One style point from one of your videos from a while ago, I’ve taken to heart, is how to dress up a cheap suit. Make sure to always have it tailored, have it be in a dark color (navy, charcoal, or black), and pair it with your nicest accessories. Invest in quality neckties, gentlemen

Second hand stores are your friend. You can find legit designer pieces in good condition sometimes even brand new and spending pennies on the dollar.
I agree big time on the outerwear. Great jackets, coats, and hoodies will last for years even decades in many cases.
The best entry level watch is a Seiko 5. Less than $150 and a real watch great piece and will last for years.

Jeff as someone who has an extensive watch collection, you are absolutely right my brother. A nice watch goes a long way with the right outfit. I’ve always gotten compliments about my Fossils and the Vincero watches I rotate daily.

Invest in watch straps and bracelets, that can turn a 1-3 watch collection into a 10-30 watch collection, especially if you try to get watches with the same lug size.

It also make people think you got money in some cities. I bought a really nice time pipes. Only spent $65. To my eye it looks like a $300-400 dollar piece. Take it off when you go to the mechanic needing an estimate. The bartender is going to expect a bigger tip etc... People think life is better for you these days 😂....

This subject is very important to me. I lost about 30 lbs. in 2020 and had to replace or resize all of my clothes. Several items had to be replaced or resized twice. Therefore, I have a slightly different take on your recommendations.
    1. The most important thing is to have *less* quantity. That's fewer items to replace or resize if I continue to lose weight, or if I regain it. It's fewer items to take to the tailor. And each item gets worn more frequently, so I've gotten more use out it before I need to resize or replace it.
    2. If I'm wearing neutral colors, nobody notices if I wear the same items week after week. Therefore, I can get away with fewer items.
    3. I found some brands + sizes that fit perfectly, which has saved me hundreds in tailoring adjustments.
    4. Regardless of how high of quality I buy, it will not necessarily extend the lifespan of the item. Weight loss/gain, indelible stains, and physical damage can end the useful lifespan of the highest quality garments.
    5. When it comes to shoes, *fit* is the most important thing … far more important than quality. If a pair of shoes hurts my feet, then I've wasted my money on it.
    6. Versatility is important for everything I buy. The more outfits and situations I can wear a garment or accessory in, the more frequently I can wear it, and they fewer items of clothing I need.
    7. Even if I like the way something looks, I will only buy it if I need it. Even if I need a particular item of clothing, I will keep searching for one that I like the looks of. If an item of clothing doesn't meet both criteria, there's no reason for me to buy it.

I gave my son a pair of pants that I used to be able to fit in when I was younger. It dawned on my that the pants were like 30 years old and are still in good shape. You just can't get material like that anymore. I think I paid like 50 bucks in the late 80s. Gotta be something like pennies per wear lol.

I was going to say eBay a third of the way through, but I told myself the whole reason I watch this guy is because his advice resonates. Sure enough, he mentioned eBay.
    I will add 2 tips.
The first is that if you buy from eBay have patience. Know a good or fair price for what you want. If it appears, like a deal on a Manhattan apartment, grab it. If it isn’t at the price you think is fair, wait up to a year. Prices are seasonal. Beyond one year adjust your expectations.
Second, like brands, decide on your advisors and you tubers and magazines. Once you understand yourself better dump and delete all the advisors but one or two max.
Watching a bunch of people telling you what to buy will only make you spend money you don’t have. You’ll end up with a Bluetooth jumprope and not enough money to enjoy or do something that’s actually important.

How can I be more stylish in dressing in warm weather both casual to dress? P.S...I DO NOT WEAR SKINNY JEANS OR PANTS.

I live in Houston, which is also hot and humid for most of the year. I avoid wearing jeans, because they're too warm and heavy most of the time. I prefer lightweight chinos or lightweight, breathable, moisture-wicking tech pants. That helps me stay cooler and look stylish.
For shirts, I prefer long-sleeved button-up shirts in a cotton/linen blend. They're very lightweight and very breathable, and much easier to dress up than a cotton t-shirts. Polo shirts or short-sleeved button-up shirts are also options, if that's your personal preference.
I also own two linen/wool blend sports coats: one is lightly structured and quarter-lined, the other unstructured and unlined. The lack of lining and lightweight weave makes them *much* more wearable than a worsted wool jacket.

I imagine this comment's going to be crapped on by a few guys, but if you're careful you can get some incredible deals in thrift stores. I bought a roughly $100 jacket for about $15 in brand-new condition. Other jackets, ranging in retail prices from $50 on up to about $80, all like-new, for around $10 to $15 each. It's the same with shirts. Pants are a little harder to shop for in thrift stores, but not impossible. Whatever you buy, look closely for stains, pulled threads, rips, etc.

You lost me with that shoe analogy. Where are you buying your shoes? And what are you doing to them?
I'm currently wearing a pair of $50 minimal black sneakers that already have 100+ wears, and I expect to get about 200+ more wears out of them.
I have a pair of $27 espadrilles that have 200+ wears, and look good for about 100 more wears. I had to wash the espadrilles once, but they haven't required any additional care.
I have a $100 pair of brogues that have about 250 wears, and I'm likely to get another 100+ wears out of them.
I own some boots that cost $265 and $325, respectively. It's possible that I will be able to get three to six times the wear out of them as I do out of my less expensive shoes. I'm a little skeptical that they'll last *that* much longer, though.

I always struggle with sunglasses. As a prescription glasses wearer, I need prescription sunglasses. With bifocal lenses. Without the prescription, I can't read or see anything. But then I would also have to wear them indoors, which looks awful I think. What do you guys do?

    • @mikew742
      @mikew742 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Brands like RayBan (which is my go-to sunglass brand) do clear-glass glasses as well, so you could for example have your prescription sunglasses then a prescription clear glass version as well, both then look good.

    • @karlr750
      @karlr750 ปีที่แล้ว

First, eyeglasses are also an accessory that help make a face more symmetrical … even though sunglasses are a little better at that.
Second, I keep a glasses case and a pair of prescription sunglasses in my messenger bag. That way I can change into my sunglasses when I go outside and back into my eyeglasses when I go inside.
Third, if I'm not carrying a bag, I'll often put a pair of sunglasses in the chest pocket of my jacket, then switch into/out of them as needed.
Fourth, I keep costs down by ordering online through Zenni. They're affordable enough for me to wear them as stylish accessories, keep spare pairs around (like in the car), and not worry that I might lose a pair.

I get the point about price vs quality, but I have never heard of a pair of shoes that wears out after 15 wears. I could make shoes out of thick cardboard, and I’d probably get 40-50 wears out of them. Your arithmetic isn’t sound because it doesn’t really use a real world example.
