I decided to upload this rare video, from a vintage collection of VHS, as a gift to panditji and ourselves, the ones watching.

Part of the Varanasi Sitar Concert series of the 90's
Pandit Manilal Nag is a classical sitar player and an exponent of the Bishnupur gharana of Bengal. He was given the Padma Shri Award, the fourth highest civilian award in India in this year, 2020.
Personally, I feel honored to be part of this gharana, thanks to Panditji and my guru, shri Raju Chakraborty.
Pandit Samta Prasad (1921 - 1994) was an Indian classical musician and tabla player from the Benares gharana.
He was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1979, and the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian honour given by Govt. of India in 1991

Pandit Manilal Nag es un intérprete de sitar clásico y el mayor exponente de la Bishnupur gharana de Bengala. Recibió el Premio Padma Shri, el cuarto premio civil más alto en India en este año, 2020.
Personalmente, me siento honrado de ser parte de esta gharana, gracias a Panditji y mi guru, shri Raju Chakraborty.

Pt. Samta ji playing tabla with such an energy at 72 is amazing. In fast tempo also his bol were so clear.
Pandit Samata Prasad ji's tabla is very harsh and improvisations are too long as if he is performing his solo tabla; 🙄🙆 It doesn't suit to the raga and sweet and suttle instrument like sitar. And another bad habbit of chuing tobaco or gutkha is very bad ;🤦🙄🙆 it shows arrogance of the artist no matter how great he is... his tabla disturbs the raga and sitar, very bad accompaniment.😏😒😠

It may sound harsh to some, after all its relative.....Depends on ear to ear. You rightly used the word "improvisation" and Pt. Samta Prasad ji was known for that. Thanks for your remarks. 🙏
