Smartshift seemed to work well on the base model.
Can't wait for PS5 Pro and Switch 2!
Compliments on the Xmen 97 shirt. Used to watch when I was a kid, and the new show has been awesome!
Best case scenario for the PS5 Pro is that it runs games at the base PS5's quality mode at 60 fps with maybe slightly better looking effects. Nothing ground breaking, but for people that want both image quality and framerate, this would be the console to get. It doesn't matter if the PS5 Pro supports hardware level VRS stage 2 or mesh shaders, nobody is going to use them outside of maybe one or two first party devs wanting to push the console to its limit. The PS5 already supports primitive shaders and I think only one third party dev actually used it.
I think it will give 4K + Full Ray Tracing effects + 45/60FPS to the majority of games in quality mode
Devs have already gone on record saying they use mesh shaders on the base PS5. AVATAR being one of the more recent examples. The PS5 Pro having mesh shaders isn't worth talking about. AMD cards rely on api to determine whether the CUs run primitives or mesh shaders. It isn't unique hardware, just instructions.
You don’t know what devs are going to do, this part of the generation is when we start seeing the next level of games finally and it’s been that way every generation, so yeah companies like Rockstar, Naughty dog, insomniac, etc…. Are gonna take full advantage of the Pro, can’t wait to see how Wolverine looks omg
I want a PS 5 PRO now
We all do man... We all do. :D
PS5 Pro is basically an 8 core Zen 2 CPU clocked faster with a RX 7800XT & a 300 TOPS NPU for $600. Or you could buy the RTX 5090 for $2500.

Any news for the psvr2 connect box for pc?
Thanks to the scalpers I waited for the PS5 PRO 🌟 🥰
Scalpers didn't go anywhere. Good luck getting the PRO.
@@mikew1080oh it’ll definitely be easier to get the pro, the pandemic and chip shortage was the main reason not scalpers, scalpers have always been around so yeah and the pro will be fine.

Me too , I couldn't get a PS5 back then because there was none to buy in stores . Only way to get one was paying double the price to a scalper .I could get a PS5 now if I wanted but I might as well wait for the pro to come out 👍

People really need to stop calling these things "leaks". They are *not* .
I'm afraid using "leaks" brings in more of those lovely clicks
@@alkenstein I'm afraid you're right. I hate how the common peoples' minds work, and how easily they are manipulated.
Until Sony officially announces them, that's what they are. But I assume you really mean they are purposeful leaks. That could very well be likely, however I'd wager the state of the industry also has devs in a disgruntled place where they're not caring about their NDAs as much as normal. There was that GDC poll where a bunch said they were already working on games for it despite that technically being an NDA breach
@@xephyrxero I believe they are entirely purposeful. There's just no way that _all_ these so-called leaks from games to hardware are actually honest "leaks" - every single time for every piece of hardware, to every frickin' game. It's a new way of marketing; to make us feel like we got some exciting "inside" news early when we weren't supposed to, to hype us up. It's entirely psychological.
If PS5 pro graphic around 7800 xt, it will be amazing.. can't even imagine what will PS6 capabilities.
Don't think to hard the always do this end ot is low end what do you expect it is 500 😂😂😂
Ps6 will be 4080 levels
Should be more like a hybrid of the 7800 and the 8800
@@lordspalse0062 pip dream 🤣
7700XT at best, PS5 Pro has less compute performance, less bandwidth than 7800XT and while more than 7700XT it has to share it with the CPU, less VRAM for use by games and again has to share with the CPU, no infinity cache means effective bandwidth is even worse than the 7700XT, and lets not forget the nerfed Zen 2 CPU that's still worse than the CPU in Series X holding the GPU back. The one thing it has over 7700XT is better RT and that's sad because you can get way better performance on PC by just disabling RT and even better image quality by just increasing the settings and resolution.
Anyone else holding out on playing a few games because you want to experience it for the first time with the Pro patch? FF7 Rebirth and Tekken 8 are two that I think deserve an upgrade before I want to play them. There's something special about that first playthrough. #patientGamers

I'll wait for the ps6, I don't rly see the need to replace my ps5 with this
there is not reason unless you want fps and rt and 4k.........ps5 is good, im not waiting anohter 4 or 5 years for the ps6.... ppl who think the ps6 will be out befroe 2028 is just fucking nuts, i dont think it will be out till 2029 but i could see 2028..

only way im getting ps5 pro is if it's the only way to play gta 6 at 60fps💀
The way Rstar have been, the top of the line PC won't even run it @60fps.
Is it going to be better than my 4090 from a couple of years ago .
No?
Im on pc now and had all playstations and awhile back traded my ps5 for my first pc and now im def getting another ps5 and it will be the pro model especially for gta 6
GTA6 is the game is has to run... but at what resolution?
It will....@30FPS 😂
@@ivofixzone6410 didnt know that 30 fps was a resolution
1440p, pssr up to 4k at 60fps with RT.
mesh shaders support on the ps5 pro ? when the base model doesn't have mesh shaders? seems wierd to include that in the pro model imo
PS5 does have primitive shaders, so it will take more optimizations to make PS5 more performant. I'm assuming Sony is trying their best to make the PS5 Pro an easy "upgrade" for developers so they actually get results out of the new hardware.
I wish Microsoft cared that much to assist devs in getting the most out of Series X.
Why would ps5 api allow mesh shaders when it would have to be compiled into primitive shaders for execution anyway? That's how rdna 2 and 3 mesh shader support works. On pc the driver compiles mesh shaders into primitive shaders for execution.
@@blegi1245 Good question, I was under the impression that RDNA 2 and beyond have Mesh shading ability while RDNA, which is what PS5 is based on, utilized the less robust primitive shading implementation. If this is how it works for the PS5 API, then mesh shading on say PC and Xbox hardware is just the implementation primitive shading through the DX12U API? I'm guessing as I really don't know all that much about it.
Didn't mesh shading actually originate with Nvidia way back in 2018 or something like that?
@@davidandrew6855 they don't. The driver has ability to compile mesh shaders into primitive shaders for execution. I think that necessitated some architecture changes because GCN 5 (in theory) and RDNA 1 have primitive shader support but no ability to execute mesh shaders. I think what is being talked about is the devkit and compiler ability to take preexisting mesh shader code and compile it into primitive shaders for execution on ps5 (console games ship as precompiled graphics code instead of intermediate representation used on pc games which has to be compiled by the driver at runtime ) to streamline porting games with mesh shaders from other platforms. As far as i know that's how xbox series "mesh shader support" works.
@blegi1245 but that process is less effective? Or equivalent?
As a ps5 owner I don't think the ps5 pro is worth the upgrade. I'll wait for a next gen console
Never really is worth upgrading from the base console.
You can think it’s not worth it but objectively it is worth it and there will be a very noticeable difference and I have a ps5 already but I don’t mind spending money to get the best console there’s many reasons to get one.
@chasethechosenone8478 there won't be any real noticeable difference honestly. Ps4 and ps4 pro are a prime example of that. Just doesn't make sense to spend another $500+ for a slight upgrade. Just wait for the ps6.
@@ranran2218 you won’t know that until comes out and I buy every PlayStation console that comes out so and when there is a noticeable difference then people will buy but this is mainly for people who care about hardware like myself if I can buy the best of the best console for slightly more than I’ll do it.
@@chasethechosenone8478 u need to look up the definition of objective. its an opinion its not worth it not a fact dude no matter how bad you want to be right.
Am I the only one tired of rumors just to have information changed….
Alright Sony, I'd like to preorder now to get a headstart of the bots & scalpers, much appreciated 💐
If this is accurate, going from around the 6700 to a 7800xt is really interesting
Significantly better raytracing is also interesting if it makes it into RDNA 4.
You should have worn an X2 t-shirt
About Switch 2, I have a feeling it will be even worse hardware trash in comparison to what is on the market when it releases than Switch is.
Just release the system already! I’ll buy!
I wonder for how long the PS5 Pro will stay relevant when it releases because it's getting closer to the expected next generation release of the PS6. Following the years between each gen's release of 6-7 years, I'd expect the PS6 to release as early as the end of 2026. If the PS5 Pro releases at the end of 2024, it will probably get only 2-3 years before the PS6 releases
I'm guessing if PS5 releases this year, PS6 is not hitting until 2027 at the earliest, I hope it doesn't come any later, as 7 years on PS5 Regular is more than long enough.
I also think moving forward we will have longer cross generational releases. With that the PS5 Pro could be relevant well into 2028, if it can leverage PSSR, and newer games don't totally overwhelm the Zen 2 based CPUs so that most games can at least hit 60fps on the Pro.
@@davidandrew6855 ps6 wont come out till 2028 or 2029.......most console gens are 7 years,j but with covid 1 or 2 years will ged added on this gen..........if dumb ass peple are waiting for ps6 then they need to just get the pro, besides
we ALL KNOW when ps6 drops most games will be cross gen for the first year or two, and you wont need to buy a ps6 till 1 or 2 years into the ps6 gen, because by then you would have the pro for 4 5 or 6 years dependon on weather it comes out in 27 28 or 29.... and if you get 5 to 6 years out of the pro thats around 100 bucks a year(it it cost 500-600 buks)
id say people who dont have a ps5 now, this is a great time to get into a pro, ima get it for sure
I can see Microsoft doing this, but not Sony.
MS are in dire need for a clean slate knowing what has become of this generation of Xbox (pathetic), whereas Sony have now seen the state in which game development and hardwares are; games take longer to work on and hardwares haven't been evolving quite as quick as it once had been while the cost of the existing stuff aren't subject for a tangible decline either.
It was previously confirmed that Sony weren't expecting a next generation console before 2027. The best case scenario here is that they pulled PS6's release closer within 2027 when it was initially supposed to be 2028. One way or another, I'm inclined to believe that we're bound for a cross generational period never before precedented. This is taking into thorough consideration the current-gen exclusive library now that we've entered the console's latter half of its life cycle, which is underwhelming despite having the install base the PS6 simply won't have for quite some time.
@@aaronclay4665PS6 ain’t coming till 2028/2029 it’s not coming no time soon

More like 3080 actually if you want to cross reference AMD and Nvidia
I'm Waiting For Pro Since 2022 😂
Is better visuals and better frame rates worth the extra ~$100 is what it boils down to... and if you're already spending that kind of money to play video games, then it should be a very easy answer. If you already own a PS5 then trading up is different, but if you put any real time into playing games, then it shouldn't even be a question. This is true for anything you spend a considerable amount of time doing.

Nintendo want to keep it away from the launch window and the related collateral of the PS5 Pro! GTA VI and whatever big guns Sony has out at the same time! So id say around March next yr is probably latest..... Then of course theres the Vita 2 Sony has on off been hinting at! But that might be next gen now possibly unless Sony does go for the juggular..... Sony will guage how well the Pro / Vanilla / XBX games will be doing holistically before taking anymore hardware risks and over reaching....
I think a Vita 2 type device was hinted for PS6 time in combination with the results of the Portal
Sounds great, but Sony lacks games worth playing, gaming PC is the way of the future. I’ll either borrow or rent a PS6 just to play the last part of FF7

This is a must-have for your living room.
Day one for me, no questions.
I love how Sony is building their machines for developers, not necessarily the consumers. Consumers don't seem to care too much about Ray tracing, but developers love it because it kinda automates what's otherwise a time consuming task
Consumers obviously care about ray tracing, seeing as how many of the top 10 most bought GPUs are RTX. If consumers didn't care about RT AMD GPUs would sell better.
@@Wobbothe3rd
Yeah, then they turn the graphics down, and turn off ray tracing to run CS go at 900fps
They should do a PS PRO RTX for those who appreciate quality.
PS5 PRO is a beast of a console!👍
I hope you're right.
@@justfun5479 I am!
How do you know, it isn't even officially announced yet.
If we go by the leaked specs and the 45% performance increase number that we should concentrate on, it is a lukewarm upgrade. PSSR will be interesting, and better RT will be appreciated, but I just don't see this being a "beast" of a console with it's low-ball CPU uplift.
I'm happy to be proven wrong, until we have the proof I'm cautiously optimistic.
@@davidandrew6855 because sony always kills it with consoles.......ps2 ps3 ps4 and ps5.......why would anyone think it wont be great?( yes i know ps4 gen was weak compared to pc but thats not the point)
Upscaling Beast my foot
RDNA 3 production was cancelled over a year ago. So it has to have RDNA 4 for them to plan on making consoles in the future. All of these PS5 Pro videos are fake. They might as well make a PS6 with RDNA 4. PS2 came out 5 years after PS1.
SONY desperate generating hype for just an overclocked console which will overheat. No wonder Xbox did not release such "refresh".
Condescension
Stop treating us like idiots. 99.9% of your audience love technical details.
You're only reading spec sheets....
No. This guy has done deep dives that would go over most gamer’s heads. Most gamers no nothing about compute efficiency or compiling shaders. Their brains would melt or they would become bored out of their minds trying to keep up.
Yippee even more power to play Xbox games. 😂😂😂
Why bring out this console . Why not just go next gen with ray tracing 60 and path tracing 30 or 40 and. They are getting Features like VRS and mesh shaders that are already on series x. But this good for xbox also, because now dev will actually use these techniques on games more .since they caters to whatever Playstation can do then build off that. Sad but thats what they have been doing all gen.
It would be cost prohibitive for a console.
Second, devs have already gone on record saying they use mesh shading on PS5. Avatar being a recent example. It isn't unique to the Series consoles, there is no unique hardware required. API dictates whether the CUs crunch the operation as a mesh or primitive.
@@mikew1080 I don't think avatar used mesh shader I'm not sure but, I do know series x runs games that uses mesh shaders like alan wake 2 . maybe by 5+ frames faster than primitive shaders to me that's not a big difference
@@antoniohill4451 the devs explicitly stated that the PS5 runs mesh shaders when going into specifics around creating the game. The Series consoles and PS5 literally use the same CUs. I'm more surprised that people are in disbelief about this. There is no secret sauce.
Alan Wakes issues stem from a small developer building all of their titles around DX. If they had the time and resources, the difference would be much smaller given the specs of each console.
@@mikew1080 no series x has more CUs ps5 has 36 and series x has 52, some of those extra CUs are for Direct3D which is what mesh shaders uses. I'm not saying ps5 tech is bad. I'm just saying if ps5 used direct3D more game would use mesh shaders. We all know developer are lazy and is not going to build a game around a workaround for ps5 just to use mesh for xbox and ps5. 99% of the time say fk xbox tech and build around the capability of what ps5 does. Not going to be basis but Microsoft don't even bother to use it either. Maybe it's used in the second half of this gen which we will be later this year.
@antoniohill4451 you do realize not all workloads benefit from more CUs, right? This is literally the reason for some titles performing better on PS5. The benefits that Alan Wake 2 sees on the Series consoles stem from using the same API that a small PC centric developer uses for all of its titles. Even if the most was made of both consoles for the title, the discrepancy would be a couple frames or a marginally higher resolution, not both. Certainly not as large as they are currently. A two teraflop difference is not at all meaningful when looking at the complete picture of the hardware. Neither are the differences in the number of CUs. You're just picking a metric that appears to have a large discrepancy and running with it due to a lack of knowledge.
What we need it's new games, 3.5 years after launch day and sony lied to us, where the next generation experience, where the great next generation exclusives? Enough talking about spec, we need new games
Did everyone forget there was a pandemic? The delays from it have echoed out over the past few years. But in the next year or two we'll finally see a steady stream of games designed for the current gen
You must be new or something the heavy hitters don’t start coming till the middle of the generation and after they cut loose last gen, Wolverine coming GTA 6 alone is enough and naughty dog new IP so yeah it’s nothing new
