During the pandemic, Nemophila would learn and upload a cover song every Friday recorded either in Tamu’s (drummer) jam room or separately from each of their homes. Your first pronunciation was correct: nem-oh-feel-a. It's taken from the Latin name of the Baby Blue Eyes flower which has five petals, representing the five band members. They go from harder than this (Zen live, Oiran) to skate-punkish crowdpleasers with attitude (Style, Night Flight) to unique ethnically-influenced tracks (Hypnosis, AMA-TE-RAS, Enten) to tearjerking ballads (Life, Odyssey, Now I Here). I saw Nemophila live last year and it was, bar none, the loudest most intense concert I have ever experienced.
Nemophila - "baby blue eyes" flower, "Rurikarakusa" in Japanese; grows in N-America and is appreciated in Japan (see "Hitachi Seaside Park"). The band was formed in 2019, originally as a "session" brought together by... Mayu - the vocalist (ex- Lipstick band); Haraguchi-san - (ex- HöLDERLINS band) bass, backing vocals, was Mayu's friend and colleague from Music College; Tamu Murata - drums, backing vocals, one the most respected session musician in Japan (countless bands), with also her own original carrier; she's also the wife of Akira Yamaoka, musician/composer, known especially for his videogames OSTs, in particular for "Silent Hill"; Saki (ex - "Mary's Blood" band for a decade, "Destrose", and others), she's a "young sacred monster" in J-metal) guitar, backing vocals, and... Hazuki (KOIAI "Dark Indigo" / Li-sa-X, Disqualia bands) - guitar, backing vocals; both, Saki and Hazuki have a lot of experience. Nemophila made an amazing fandom impression during the pandemic, thru TH-cam clips... ...so far about 50 Western/Japanese awesomely bonkers covers, and about 40 original, freakishly insane good songs (singles, EPs - including the JPURecords' Extended Edition of "Oiran", 3 albums - "Revive", "Seize The Faith", "Evolve"). I've always listened to a great variety of styles and genres of music, so it feels actually quite weird to me that in the last year or two I've been listening something like 80% of the time to only Japanese bands, and of those 80% mainly to Band-Maid, Lovebites and Nemophila. Those three simply satisfy the greatest part of my current musical needs. Of course I know there are many other great bands out there to be discovered, but right now those are the three I constantly come back to. Well, Lovebites are coming to Europe this summer and I'll be lucky enough to be able to follow them around for a few of their shows. Already got the tickets. And as soon as Band-Maid or Nemophila set their foot on European ground - and it won't be too far away from where I live or clash with my working days - I'll be there! Nemophila is a fantastic band. There are a great many videos on TH-cam where they cover songs from other bands - and they're great and the band seem to be having a lot of fun playing them -, but in my opinion Nemophila really shine when they're doing their own songs. "Adabana" is another great one, or "Life", which is a slower, ballady kind of song, very poignant and touching.
4:25 Only 5 years of existence (2019), but already released 4 _excellent_ consecutive studio albums full of _masterpieces_ , and they already _tour the world_ . Meaning: Yes, they are good - and they know it. 😁
All songs from NEMOPHILA are so amazing!! And they can play any genre they want and kill it!! Next songs please try ADABANA, RAITEI, AMA-TE-RAS, Odyssey.🙏🏻
I didn't want to say anything as I loved your BM and Lovebites reactions, but Nemophila is the best band out of Japan now - hardcore hot chicks - heavy growls followed by sexy hooks. Mayu - vocals; Tamu Murata - drums ( the most gifted musician of them all, multi-instrumentalist); Haraguchi-san - bass; and twin seven-string lead guitarists Hazuki to your left and Saki to your right!!! Welcome home!!! This is the band you want in your live. I can hardly wait to see your reaction to their live songs - those wild cats will render you speechless. " Seize the Faith", " Zen", " Revive", " Raitei", "Ama-Te-Ras" - their latest release, and many more - all live. A song that I have never seen live " Adabana" - will stop your heart with Tamu's fills. " Hypnosis" and many many more)) You pronounced the band's name correctly the first time when you did it phonetically...the second time you made it sound like "sex with fish"))) you totally ruined " Finding Nemo" for me)))
For my money, Nemophila is THE best metal band going. All of their songs are great. They don't do bad songs. It is truly point, click, and win. Pick anything they do and you will love it.
Nemophila literally means "woodland-loving" (from the Greek words némos meaning wooded pasture/glade and philos, which means Loving). However, this band is named after the plant, known in the west as Baby Blue Eyes, and in Japan as Rurikarakusa. Which is why the fanbase are known as Petalheads! Nemophila have a ton of songs of this quality and better, both live and MV's, and they are yet another sparkling jewel in the treasure chest of Japanese female Rock and Metal bands - Band-Maid, Lovebites and Nemophila are my holy trinity of music and my ears worship their sounds daily. But there are other amazing gems in that chest too, either all female or female-led - Babymetal, Asterism, Hanabie, Wagakki Band....the chest is packed with treasures! Subscribed to see you experience the wonder, joy and headbanging glory that is Japanese women making all the very best Rock and Metal for the 21st century.
Enjoyed the reaction. Fellow guitarist here. And yes, they can play circles around me too. My favorite of theirs is "Adabana". Hazuki (with the Ibanez). Does an overhand tapping solo in that song. When I saw the video, I thought it was her just showing off for the camera. But then I saw a clip of them performing the song at The Whiskey, and she pulled it off live on stage.
Odyssey is a power ballad. Hypnosis is one of their more creative songs composed by their bassist. And there's Adabana. For me, it's super heavy but not fast.
Great Reaction! Welcome to the kickass world of Nemophila. One of the best out of Japan and my personal favorite. I would give you the run down on the whole band but many others already have. I got to see them this time last year March 19th in Dallas and they kicked ass. Been following them since 2020 and they formed in 2019. They play many styles of metal, rock, punk and even a little pop mixed in sometimes. But mostly they are heavy and just hell of a metal and rock band. I love pretty much all of their songs. I see you just reacted to Adabana too. Another great song. My other recommendations would be Oiran Live the most recent live video about 8 months ago. Oiran was the first song they recorded I believe and is usually their show closer. Awesome song. Others would be Dissension, Revive ,RAITEI, Zen live which is one of their heaviest and Mayu growls and screams through it all. They have many different sounding songs like Hypnosis, Ama-Te-Ras and then Style which is like numetal. They also have some ballads too like Odyssey, Life, Now I Here and Game Over. Though life is slow but not really ballad IMO but is a very beautiful song and video. There is so many more too plus they have also done some killer covers. Especially back in Covid lockdowns. This band can play anything. They are also very cool laid back band too. Very positive and always smiling having a great time and they are amazing musicians. You are in for a very fun ride with this band.
Sure. Raitei, Revive, Zen, Seize the Fate, Adabana, Style, Hypnosis, Life. Covers, Detroit Rock City (in full face paint), Journey Separate Ways, many many more.
If You are sold on this. Try HANABIE and the song We Love Sweets. This band start their US tour in May By the way. The bands name is Ne Mo Fila and is a sweet flower. Blue baby eyes I think its called in English.
All great suggestions, but you also need to see Adabana, Life, Revive, and the very recent live performance of Ama-Te-Ras ! Plus any one of their dozens of fun covers !!
You reaction is so amazing... moved me to tears... 🥲I reacted the same way, when I was introduced to Nemophila a few months ago: Disbelieve, laughters, blown-away'ness. And that was only the beginning. Then I experienced umpteen _brilliant_ masterpieces from them, on 4 consecutive studio albums. Incredible _diamonds_ of Metal. "Too good to be true." Continue to relish their music, it will fill you with happiness and joy. 😄 Nemophila produce *HAPPY* Metal. 😃Welcome to Nemophila's rabbit hole of music excellence. 😊💮DE
Nemophila is awesome. Please do "dissension" next. This band, and Lovebites are top tier. You really should also look up Lovebites "judgement day". You will love it.
Hi, Amiekinz!!! Soooo glad that you found us, J-rock/J-metal!! Thanx always for the good reaction! And also... If you check out any LIVE version from them, like BAND-MAID, LOVEBITES, HANABIE, etc...🤩!!! Cheers from Tokyo! 🤘😁
Great reaction to a great song, Amie ! This song ' Rise' is the one that sold me on Nemophila. If you're looking for some more Japanese Rock/Metal suggestions - these are some of my favourites. Japanese Female HR/HM Bands. Some excellent introductions, IMO, to the following bands. * Show-Ya - Watashi Wa Arashi (I Am The Storm) (MV, 1989) * Destrose - Maze (Full MV, 480p) * Mary's Blood - Marionette (MV/Full version) * Lovebites - Shadowmaker (MV) * Aldious - We Are (Full Version) (MV) * Fate Gear - Winds Of Fall (OMV) * Mardelas - Patriot Anthem (OMV) * Nemophila - Rise (OMV) ✔️ .
I think "Dissension" and "Oiran" are typical their songs, but "Odyssey" is from very other side. It's just like "I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith. It means they are made for emotional seanse of movie. So my recomendation are "Oiran", "Dissension" and "Life" all from Naon no Yaon 2021 live version. But there are no English subtitles, so please check out studio version with English subtitles too before or same time.
Band-Maid, Lovebites and now Nemophila. Nemophila typically mix clean and harsh vocals. You have only scratched the surface of Japanese rock/metal. I've been in the rabbit hole for about 2 years now, starting with Lovebites and Band-Maid. If you want to explore further, other Japanese bands - Unlucky Morpheus - Black Pentagram (Official Music Video), Aldious - Go Away (Full Version), Bridear - Ignite Official Music Video), East of Eden - Evolve Extended Version (Music Video), Mana Diagram - Glitter wind(Official Music Video), Mary's Blood - Starlight - Music Video(official)
this video was about 7 months ago if you want to see how much better they have gotten react to Nemophila Ama-Te-Ras Official Live Video please let me know what you think
@@Amiekinz4ever yep in case you didnt know this is a super group they were apart of 5 different bands and they came together for 1 song and they loved it so much and it sounded so good they decided to become a full time band please let me know what you think
I love the solos in RAITEI and they recently released a live version recorded at different shows including the House Of Blues, which is great though not as clear as the studio version. th-cam.com/video/6aoghIEPOYc/w-d-xo.html Their song Demon Light is a bit harder to find as it is not listed in English. th-cam.com/video/TjqrElTL-r8/w-d-xo.html Their song Life is a beautiful song recorded when Tamu (drummer) returned from maternity leave, which is why they are all facing her and there is "extra" emotions happening plus it was Hazuki's birthday. th-cam.com/video/HFnEYhbEAqg/w-d-xo.html I have seen Band Maid Twice and Nemophila once and loved all the shows. I would think they will be back soon. Fingers crossed.
I generally advise reactors to start the journey with RAITEI Music video (not the latest live. Thats for later) Just to see where the first professional music videos started. Then there is their great early songs called Oiran, Soraii, Monsters, Fighter and Life followed by Dissension(their second music video). They have 3 albums and a couple of EPs that dont have a bad song so the journey is long and amazing. variety abounds with Nemophila and they are highly skilled musicians and great human beings. Then there is their covers. Covers are a very important part to their story and their connection to their fans and themselves. The Japanese band covers will also lead you to check out even more Japanese metal. Their Maximum the Hormone and Rottengraffty covers are a good start. Starting in 2019 their covers were a great way to keep contact together and with the fans during the pandemic.
Nemophila, brilliant band, recommendations, the live versions of "Seize The Fate": th-cam.com/video/yyKGK1Se4bo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Kz9YdNedJR4Zh08c "Change The World": th-cam.com/video/tQ81olc0_NI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ZG2gZ6hl6yEBDeGb But, for a pure metalcore vocal experience check out "Zen": th-cam.com/video/k1yPbBRHFms/w-d-xo.htmlsi=gwnYP0cPL6SYlPNo
You should also do "Zen" (official live) th-cam.com/video/k1yPbBRHFms/w-d-xo.html The MVs for "Hypnosis" th-cam.com/video/k7iF1BZ36cU/w-d-xo.html "Adabana" th-cam.com/video/AxYiOwsu6wU/w-d-xo.html "Style" th-cam.com/video/kDaezMfprq0/w-d-xo.html "Life" (official live) th-cam.com/video/HFnEYhbEAqg/w-d-xo.html The other recommendations are all good. Like many Japanese bands, they ignore genre boundaries. And like other Japanese bands, they have no bad songs. While the band formed in August 2019, the members are all veterans of other bands. They started out as Mayu's jam session but they decided they liked the chemistry so much they formed a band. They are the "soft and fluffy band from Hell". The name is the scientific genus name of a group of flowers from Western N. America. The different varieties have the phrase "baby blue eyes..." in their English names. The flower has 5 petals representing the 5 band members and you see it in their band logo.
Nemophila also has a butt load of cover songs from 70's and 80's bands as well. One of my favorite covers is Detroit City by Kiss. But they do it in full make-up as the band used to be. I just did a check and you have not checked out the band Hanabie yet. Most people have them look at this one first. Kind a like the intro to the band. Hanabie / We love sweets th-cam.com/video/G18yyvPCiTM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=IGynwYUs_tn43W8L Had to add something. Maybe at some point you should watch an older video. This band is called Destros. The band broke up back in 2015 but two of the members created Lovebites One when into Nemophila and one went to Mary's Blood. DESTROSE - Maze th-cam.com/video/vgWwXA8WmOQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=vb1tXqcaT9Vop4cj
Alright! So far, we are 3 for 3 with the J-rock bands. Please add Revive to your list. While the first 3 bands have a more traditional type of sound, the next 2 add some Japanese flavor to the mix. Let's see if we can go for 5 for 5! Babymetal - Catch Me If You Can, LIVE WITH INTRO. I dont care what anybody else says. Start with this one! And Hanabie (Ha-nah-bee-eh), We Love Sweets. It's definitely a fan favorite !
I have been a fan of death metal my whole life listening to Sepultura with my older brother in grade 4. So cool that they had the lyrics up. As you said because they know they're good. In the 80's there was a lot of demonic bullshit. Don't know if it was the Christian's who started it with a censorship agenda and a response by the musicians or the opposite. Either way the only devil song from that era i can listen to without cringe is from Iron Maiden

Listen to Nemophila's Amaterasu
Yes!...SO GOOD!
OMG.. An absolute _banger_ . _Mandatory_ .
You can add Raitei, Ama-Te-Ras and Hypnosis to your list too
Hypnosis is such an underrated song.
The Japan rock scene is incredible right now !!
Yes it is 😁 Interesting but underrated band: "Chaos Control". Song: "The legacy within".
To me, the cool factor is that both Mayu (Lead V) and Tamu (Dr) are mom's that Rock, and looks like they are doing a great job, sharing their mom (Dad too!) experiences with everyone on social media, Po!
So many great Japanese rock and metal groups these days, you will not be lacking for entertainment.
There are too many options atm 😆 🤣 😂
Nemophila and Lovebites are the best of the best !!
😁😁😁
Fantastic band, love the guitar players... Band-Maid is my favorite, but Nemophila is without question my second favorite. So much energy and fun! Thanks for the reaction.
Thank you for listening

They are:
Mayu: scream and clean vocals (also mom to a baby)
SAKI : 7-string guitar (Killer Guitars brand, Japan), backing vocals
Hazuki: 7-string guitar (Ibanez), backing vocals
Haraguchi-san (AKA Hara-chan): 5-string bass, backing vocals
Tamu: Drums, backing vocals (also mom to two young children)
Recommended songs to get a good overview: 'OIRAN' (the most recent live version is by far the best), 'Ama-Te-Ras', 'Zen' (full-on scream-fest), 'Adabana', 'Change the World', 'Raitei', 'Monsters'.
EDIT to add: I forgot their epic, 80's style power ballad, 'Odyssey'. I thought I hated power ballads until they made that song. Amazing.
I can't wait to dive into their power ballad and thanks for the sub. 😊
Thanks for being open-minded and recognizing the greatness !!

Thank you!
Heavier: Dissention, Seize the Fate, Zen

More mainstream rock: Change the World, Monsters, Night Flight
Thrash: Oiran, Revive

Awwwww that's so kewl
And their covers on their website are super fun as well.
Your first pronunciation was correct: nem-oh-feel-a. It's taken from the Latin name of the Baby Blue Eyes flower which has five petals, representing the five band members. That's so cool, I hope I can see them one day
as a music fan - the scene in Japan is the proverbial 'drinking from a firehose'...
Nemophila - "baby blue eyes" flower, "Rurikarakusa" in Japanese; grows in N-America and is appreciated in Japan (see "Hitachi Seaside Park").
The band was formed in 2019, originally as a "session" brought together by...
Mayu - the vocalist (ex- Lipstick band);
Haraguchi-san - (ex- HöLDERLINS band) bass, backing vocals, was Mayu's friend and colleague from Music College;
Tamu Murata - drums, backing vocals, one the most respected session musician in Japan (countless bands), with also her own original carrier; she's also the wife of Akira Yamaoka, musician/composer, known especially for his videogames OSTs, in particular for "Silent Hill";
Saki (ex - "Mary's Blood" band for a decade, "Destrose", and others), she's a "young sacred monster" in J-metal) guitar, backing vocals, and...

I love that, thank you for all the info
Nemophila is one of the best band's in the world!! Please react to more Nemophila, Revive , Odessey , Dissension
That's the plan
" Hypnosis" and many many more)) You pronounced the band's name correctly the first time when you did it phonetically...the second time you made it sound like "sex with fish"))) you totally ruined " Finding Nemo" for me)))
I'm OK with ruining finding Nemo for you lol.... giggles
@@Amiekinz4ever haha brilliant
😊😊😊
Adabana, Zen (live), Raitei to name a few.
Thank you for subbing and sharing this info
Enjoyed the reaction. Fellow guitarist here. And yes, they can play circles around me too. My favorite of theirs is "Adabana". Hazuki (with the Ibanez). Does an overhand tapping solo in that song. When I saw the video, I thought it was her just showing off for the camera. But then I saw a clip of them performing the song at The Whiskey, and she pulled it off live on stage.
Checj out Zen (Live), Revive, Dissension + any other suggestions. They are incredibly talented.
Welcome! Enjoy the journey. This is your daily affirmation metal. And they're even better live.
Yes they are!
I would add one more Nemophila song to the list: Revive. I'm glad you found this amazing band.
Me too
Do ZEN Live...i dare you LoL...is tooo goood...regards from Chile¡¡
It's on my list
Second this!
Third, this!
😊😊😆
Odyssey is a power ballad. Hypnosis is one of their more creative songs composed by their bassist. And there's Adabana. For me, it's super heavy but not fast.
Thank you
Great Reaction!
I can't wait to go down their catalog
Sure. Raitei, Revive, Zen, Seize the Fate, Adabana, Style, Hypnosis, Life. Covers, Detroit Rock City (in full face paint), Journey Separate Ways, many many more.
Thank you
If You are sold on this. Try HANABIE and the song We Love Sweets. This band start their US tour in May By the way. The bands name is Ne Mo Fila and is a sweet flower. Blue baby eyes I think its called in English.
Thank you
@@Amiekinz4ever I plant it in my garden so I always have some metal flowers close.. *-)

👍🔥🤘 can't go wrong with any tracks by Nemophila
All great suggestions, but you also need to see Adabana, Life, Revive, and the very recent live performance of Ama-Te-Ras ! Plus any one of their dozens of fun covers !!
You also really need to see "Revive", "Seize the Fate" live... their song "Adabana" is another, but we only have Music Video of Adabana for now.
I'll add these to my list
😊💮DE
And they both play on seven string guitars
Amazing!
Zen Live
Nemophila is awesome. Please do "dissension" next. This band, and Lovebites are top tier. You really should also look up Lovebites "judgement day". You will love it.

* Show-Ya - Watashi Wa Arashi (I Am The Storm) (MV, 1989)
* Destrose - Maze (Full MV, 480p)
* Mary's Blood - Marionette (MV/Full version)
* Lovebites - Shadowmaker (MV)
* Aldious - We Are (Full Version) (MV)
* Fate Gear - Winds Of Fall (OMV)
* Mardelas - Patriot Anthem (OMV)
* Nemophila - Rise (OMV) ✔️ .
Thank you
For great guitar, Asterism with "Dawn" live.
🤘😁🤘
I think "Dissension" and "Oiran" are typical their songs, but "Odyssey" is from very other side. It's just like "I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith. It means they are made for emotional seanse of movie.
So my recomendation are "Oiran", "Dissension" and "Life" all from Naon no Yaon 2021 live version. But there are no English subtitles, so please check out studio version with English subtitles too before or same time.
Thank you
Band-Maid, Lovebites and now Nemophila. Nemophila typically mix clean and harsh vocals. You have only scratched the surface of Japanese rock/metal. I've been in the rabbit hole for about 2 years now, starting with Lovebites and Band-Maid. If you want to explore further, other Japanese bands - Unlucky Morpheus - Black Pentagram (Official Music Video), Aldious - Go Away (Full Version), Bridear - Ignite Official Music Video), East of Eden - Evolve Extended Version (Music Video), Mana Diagram - Glitter wind(Official Music Video), Mary's Blood - Starlight - Music Video(official)
if you need nice song to help meditate, try Nemophila - Zen :D
Thank you
Best meditation song!

this video was about 7 months ago if you want to see how much better they have gotten react to Nemophila Ama-Te-Ras Official Live Video please let me know what you think
I'll add that to my list, thank you
@@Amiekinz4ever yep in case you didnt know this is a super group they were apart of 5 different bands and they came together for 1 song and they loved it so much and it sounded so good they decided to become a full time band please let me know what you think
That's so cool
I just subscribed because it's Nemophilia 🤘
Yeah, they rock!!!!
Thank you
I generally advise reactors to start the journey with RAITEI Music video (not the latest live.

You should also do "Zen" (official live) th-cam.com/video/k1yPbBRHFms/w-d-xo.html
The MVs for "Hypnosis" th-cam.com/video/k7iF1BZ36cU/w-d-xo.html
"Adabana" th-cam.com/video/AxYiOwsu6wU/w-d-xo.html
"Style" th-cam.com/video/kDaezMfprq0/w-d-xo.html
"Life" (official live) th-cam.com/video/HFnEYhbEAqg/w-d-xo.html
The other recommendations are all good.
That's really cool, thank you
The best right now they have it all 3 albums and all the covers ,that will keep you going LOL
Hold on to yer hat with theses gals....... Enjoy!!!!!!
I'm so excited about this band
Thank you
I'll see what I can do
Mmm..Epico! Mayu, Mayu, Mayu..
The live versions are better than the excellent M/Vs. Oiran is the closer of their concert. What a closing song should be but rarely is.
Ah yes, Nemophila The Troopers or Megitsune please.
Yeah I like these current kinds of songs much better
Pretty spot on reaction, as with Lovebites.
As for Japanese women metal songs to get through, if you want, GOOD LUCK!!!!
