      If Malaysia focus too much on agriculture, politician unable to steal much money. That why they refused to focus on agriculture industry.

    Malaysia has the opportunity to increase and modernise its vegetable farming. Price of veggies like cauliflowers, peppers are 3-4 times that of Hong Kong, a notoriously high cost of living city.

    Malaysia padi rice is too small scale for a commercial aspect. It is the chicken n egg issue ~ small scale n lack of investment value. The Gov need to review this sector of industry.

    • @StrsAmbrg
      @StrsAmbrg ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I am Indonesian, even in Indonesia farming small scale is no longer seen as a promising profession due to increase of living cost. Many rice fields were abandoned due to not so profitable. Some of the rice fields were converted back to horticulture farming if the land is dry enough (I said converted back because long ago the rice fields were dry land for buffalo grazing but they managed to water them by traditionally build water canal). But if the rice fields always wet, then it become considered as useless. So, even we see now many claim "millennial farmer", it is not more than just a hype, not a hope.

      It is a forsaken sector that need R&D with investment. There would be plots with preconditions for “premium” grade rice ~ ie Japanese premium type. Such substitutes would be marketable to foreign markets with recognition of certification n marketing. But the small scale local poor quality produce cannot match big commercialisation of rice.

      @@angxiang3186 the market is still not capable to cope the price of organic product. The selling price of organic agriculture is still much lower than the cost of producing that organic farming product. I saw, even in Canada with huge land available, the organic farming is still not promising.

      Canada is a poor market ~ all Anglo Saxon countries r poor market choices.
      The biggest growing market is China ~ the more premium, the more desirable. China has no lack of “rich people” - same as Japan( Japan is a very close knit market ~ there r a lot of behind scenes of the market. U need the right networks to advance into the market). It is a niche market ~ there r no shortage of “rich” clients when they perceive your product is worthwhile.
      The cars in Singapore are the most expensive; but Ferraris are the selling so well. Ferrari Purosangue is over subscribed with a 1 year wait list. Price is S$2 million excluding COE S$100k. (Singapore car usage is only for 10 years).

    Most of the small family-owned rice farms are disappearing, the income from this crop is not providing sufficient income to feed family anymore, now it is mostly big commercial farm owned by multinational corporation that are left standing. Various trade regulation and agriculture bylaw also make it difficult for small holders to survive like those small poultry farm owners.

      not to mention most of young people don't want to works in farm anymore, they rather move to the cities. To make this sustainable farming we need more young people who are willing to works as farmers...or else we will end up like many European country who relied on foreign workers. This is a socioeconomic issue that need to be dealt with. Even in Japan country sides and farms are being left to rotten and nobody wants to be farmers anymore. That is why the corporation took over, there is nothing we can do about it...let the corporation took over or just left the farm to turn to jungle.

    • @موسى_7

    easy said than done tbh...if the paddy only produce just once a year then the rice is not sufficient for the whole population, not to mention the price will be higher. Its not like rice are our supplementary diet...its our main diet and almost everyone in Malaysia eat rice at least 3 times a day. If the rice only once a year that means they need more land to produce more of it...more paddy fields means more land to clear and more jungle will be cut down...you cant plant rice in the jungle, you need to cut them down. If we do that the western woke climate changed activist will try to harassed us and lobby to boycott us just like what they did with the palm oils. Like i said...its easier said than done!
