This is really helpful for preparing me for my midterm which is in isometric view. Cause you know the book isn't all that helpful and college teachers don't exactly like to help.
I can't believe I can still remember some of this stuff from school back in the 80s as a young teen it didn't seem relevant. It didn't help I had missed a couple of classes and the teacher focused on some students more than others, the stress of having to catch up on my own and having to spend lunch times doing it was not good for my morale. That teacher set me a task I can't remember the name but it was like the star of David with the under and over triangles. eventually I completed it after a few attempts, I was so angry and upset with that teacher up until that point but realised he knew I could achieve it and he earned my respect. It seems strange looking back now how teachers would turn up to class and ask, right what are we doing today? These days lesson plans and yearly outcomes are common practice. I am grateful for your videos as I have teens of my own now and am able to pass on knowledge they will find useful. although is there any need of schools and teachers these days with chaotic curriculums. The teens now only need a device some WiFi and TH-cam.
This satisfied some serious curiosity I had as to drawing to scale your other videos are helping me understand perspective drawing much better. You are teaching me the value of the t square and angle sets.
Thank you so much, I have to submit a drawing of a hollowed structural section for a quiz grade tomorrow and had no idea where to begin. After watching this I have made the most magnificent 3-D drawing that I have ever created. Thank you again
I'm really having a hard time trying to know how to properly draw the first step in isometric view. This really helped me for my technical drawing subject. Thank u!!!! Now I know how to draw the first step..
no. isometric drawings are characterised by an object's perpendicular surfaces retreating at 30deg from the observer's viewing plane. look for setsquares that have a 30 and 60 deg angle.
Thanks for the thanks! What did you like about the video? What made it useful for you? I am a teacher and am always looking for ways to communicate better:)
Im wearing good headphones and when your dog started barking I couldn't hear you for a second and rewinded the video, not realizing the barking was from the video, and rewinding every time I heard barking XD
Thankyou my welding teacher left out a couple lines said it would confuse us but without those other lines that make that kind of star shape It doesn't give me as many intersections to go off of if one intersection doesnt work also I kept doubting myself when making the two big arcs that the circle would come out properly this video helped it also helps if you have a proper compass i bought a staedler the other two i tried were complete crap the pin fell out the other one wouldn't lock in
Hi there, You have 2 papers, one of them has a straight line. the other one is empty. I want to draw the straight line on the empty paper, the same position and the same length. the question is how to draw it with triangle Rulers
Explanation was very good, only constructive criticism is the clarity of the pencil lines. Maybe a different camera angle would have done it more justice.
Excellent description, excellent drawing. Only if you could provide the same lecture on a improved quality video, then the view counts and likes numbers would have increased.
You state at min: 2:15 that "the dimensions are along the right angle planes will be true". I have an Isometric Drawing (at 30 degrees) of a Saturn 1 Launch Platform can I take the right angle plane the dimensions off this drawing to true, with respect to the drawing itself (12,19cm x 10,9cm). Thank you for your help with this question and for post this video as it's been a great help.
Allah razı olsun David hocam. Biri şu arkadan havlayan köpeği sustursa, ortaya akustik olarak daha kaliteli videolar çıkartırsınız sayın hocam. Haa bu arada gta5 videosu çekecek misiniz? :DD şaka aq şaka
5 years later and this vid is still helping people ace their exams
True

David Di Ienno For me it was the clarity and steady pacing of your explanation of each step.
You helped me so much with how to position the drawing on the page with the guidelines and center angles ...thank you !
should the right side from the orthographic projection be at the back side when doing isometric?
you're welcome. Why was this tutorial so useful for you?
You have no idea how much it was useful to me
This really helps for my assignment thanks!

It would be much better if the pencil linings are a little bit darker. It might be a problem with my eyes but I'm having a hard time seeing them.
Thank you very much for making this video😍😍❤❤from Egypt😁
Hi from Australia😉
hello sir. may i ask which angle in the template should i use to draw the isometric circle?? is it the 45 degree one?? thank you!!
Thankyou my welding teacher left out a couple lines said it would confuse us but without those other lines that make that kind of star shape It doesn't give me as many intersections to go off of if one intersection doesnt work also I kept doubting myself when making the two big arcs that the circle would come out properly this video helped it also helps if you have a proper compass i bought a staedler the other two i tried were complete crap the pin fell out the other one wouldn't lock in
Thank god and thank you sir
Tomorrow their is an exam and it really helped me.

Vry useful thankyou, can you show us how to draw an isometric circle in a rectangular prism with a compass?? Using tangencies?
Thanks David, I have class tomorrow. Now I can do better :)
Hi there, You have 2 papers, one of them has a straight line. the other one is empty. I want to draw the straight line on the empty paper, the same position and the same length. the question is how to draw it with triangle Rulers

Thank you ! You seem to be wearing the same watch as I am - Seiko automatic!
Thank you so much you help me understand isometric better
My pleasure. Are there any other design or drawing areas that you are unsure about? I want to scratch where it itches, so to speak. 🙂
