I really like how they wrote the dark-haired male cake topper. He wasn't a bad person, but he didn't know how to react when his bride ran to the other bride. He followed the blond man's lead at first, maybe because he was hurt that his bride left him, maybe just because the blond man seemed so sure and forceful. But what he was doing felt wrong, so he made the decision to help the women. Then he seemed happy enough to let them be together. He is an embodiment of someone who could allow bad societal attitudes to turn them into something bad, but instead he learns to be an ally.
Yeah he wasnt a bad person, he was like "we're supposed to be on top of the cake like they literally made us to be together"
Idk maybe an reference to adam and eve or something like that
He DOES have a name I just don't remember what it was also I think he was more confused than betrayed assuming since most of the cake toppers are straight.
But at the same time, he changed in the end. Also, he’s allowed to make mistakes. We all are.

I loved that short. I'm not LGBTQ, but I'm a romantic at heart and love seeing people falling in love. (My wife and I will be celebrating our 22nd wedding anniversary in 8 days.)
I love the ending. Those two belonged together. I hope that the decent man cake topper ended up with someone that was in love with him. As for the jerk, may his pieces be tossed in the trash as unceremoniously as possible.

This short had so many emotions in such a small amount of time. The animation really held such a tale; one that lots of people can sympathize with. A story like this is very compelling and beautiful to see. Props to the animator of this short. Cant wait to see what you think of the film!
the fact Elisha now has the lesbian dreadful plush bunny is just sending me. They truly make great pride plushes but their other plushes are also really really good. I think they also have one or two adhd plushes so you might want to check them out.

I love everything about this short, but the ending during the credits just hit me so unexpectedly and I ended up getting so emotional in the best way possible!

Also i think the cakes were decorated to symbolize the two relationships that the main characters have, like the cake that had thorns represented an unhealthy relationship whilst the other one that had pearls and a smoother design represented a much more HEALTHIER relationship

I have a show recommendation, It’s called Mobile Suit Gundam Witch From Mercury. It’s an Anime, The English dub actor for the main protagonist is Jill Harris, aka Charlie from Hazbin Hotel. The show has a strong LGBTQ focus, fun characters, a cohesive and strong story, has this mix of light hearted moments and very dark moments, and some incredible action sequences. After the Owl House ended, I felt a need to find something to get me engaged and make me look forward to what the future has in store, that’s when Witch from Mercury caught my eye. As someone who wasn’t even that big of an anime fan, I highly recommend this show to you. As of now Season two airing is still releasing episodes every Sunday so if you’re interested, now is a pretty good time to start watching.

I am going into my senior year at scad and I saw people working on this! So cool that you reacted to it!
Idk if you saw that it was a Scad senior thesis, but it was made last year and it’s short because our films can’t be over 3 minutes 😅 it was a core team of 10 creating it and it’s really cool to see a project I watched develop be seen by multiple TH-camrs! Although I’m not on this specific team, my team will be working all this year on our film and I hope more people get to react to some of the amazing thesis films that come from our classes 😊 thank you for bringing attention to a student film!

I almost cried during this and I've already watched the video on my own before!
Regarding the thorns around blond couple's cake. I remember someone else pointing out that it's the only cake in the store that had them, because they were meant to symbolise an abusive relationship. Also, this short is such a sweet love story between these 2 girls, but even beyond that, I really like its social commentary. As u pointed out, often times when abuse happens, even if everyone can see it, no one does anything abt it because it's not "their place to intrude". And also, when abusive and homophobic behaviours become normalised, other people who wouldn't normally behave in such a way begin to do so to fit in, as seen with the black-haired dude, who acted like a jerk for a bit, following the example of that abuser, but later became much better. So it's a great social commentary and a sweet, teardropping story.
