Mavs been top 10 defense since deadline and 4th for the last 12 games, the real factor is PJ Washington his defense has been insanely good but his shot has only been falling in a couple games so far, if he can kick it up on offense then that makes Luka and Kai wayyyy more difficult to guard. Gafford and Lively even in their worst games still have been solid so I’m not really worried about them especially since if they get “played off” due to matchup Mavs still have Kleber & PJ to play small ball and can switch and have DJJ & Exum who can play up a little bit too
Agree - PJail is the Mavs X-factor. He's the foundation of their improved defense. If he can improve on the offensive end, especially if he can start hitting 3s at >30%, the Mavs become unstoppable. He's almost indispensable - if one of Gafford or Lively go out, the Mavs have enough depth to carry them. If Washington goes down, the Mavs are really thin at the 4 and lose one of their best POA defenders
