    Hello Rider Japan, I recently joined the channel and I'm really excited about it. I’m currently in the process of purchasing the same model Yamaha R1 (1999), and just like you, I rode an R6 back in the early 2000s. I feel like we share the same mindset when it comes to riding and working on bikes. It's a shame you live so far from the Netherlands 😕. I’ve already watched many of your videos, and each one has been enjoyable, informative, and helpful. I can’t wait until the R1 is here in my garage! Keep up the great work with your videos. It might be fun to connect, either personally or otherwise. Cheers!

      Great! Glad the videos were an inspiration. Its a great bike but treat it with respect. Tyre pressures dont change much but if the bike isnt used for a week or more i just made it a habbit to push my thumb in to the tyre and see how it feels before riding it. Cold weather may lower the pressures also. Filling with nitrogen helps keeps pressures stable I was told

    • @Numbnutz-Uk
      @Numbnutz-Uk 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Only if it has a throttle for each cylinder (*edit or multiple throttle bodies) - you are balancing the cylinders by adjusting the throttle body opening or air valve screw on each cylinder, then you want to get the o2 right on each cylinder, a colour tune is cheap way to do it - unless you have a 5 way gas analyser :-)

    • @Filthat
      @Filthat 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Numbnutz-Uk Thank you for the explanation! The car motor has 4 cylinders + 2x dual Dell'orto carburettor 40, these carburettors, have a screw to adjust (but I'm not sure about if they have "the throttle to each cylinder"). I'm not aware of those color tune, and that's amazing! The kit cost around 80€. I was thinking of buying an air flow meter, will that do the job? Cost around 50€. The 5 gas machine is too expensive :S More than 1500€.

    • @Numbnutz-Uk
      @Numbnutz-Uk 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi@@Filthat Well maybe I should have said multiple throttle bodies not just one for all cylinders. I'd expect your twin dellorto 40's have a throttle body for each cylinder / trumpet and 1 carb supplies 2 cylinders (one side) and the same for the other two. Google 'how to balance twin dellorto carbs' and see if you can see the youtube 'easy guide on a alfa'. You would need to adjust all 4 throttles You could use a carbtune (if you can fit the vacuum pipes ok, or a pressure meter (as in the vid) if you can access the trumpets ok. I'd prefer the carbtune as you can leave the air filter on etc. But have a look at both vids and decide which may suit you set up. The colour tune is a basic spark plug with a glass body so you can see the colour of the flame .. and you adjust the mixture to get the right colour .. but you'd have to move the colour tune into each cylinder and make sure you adjust the right screw. Tbh it may be better to take it to someone who can tune and set these up if you havent do this before and get them to explain it to you .. unless you want to do it and learn 👍

      @@Numbnutz-Uk Yes, I already searched and saw some videos (including that one), but, have different methods and machines. I was checking this CartunePro, if it works. My strategy will be: 0 - Set the Valvules 1 - Air flow meter 2 - Cartune Pro 3 - ColorTune 4 - If's not right, not to go to a shop with 5 gas meter 5 - go to a shop if cant made it :S This will be quicky over 300€

  • @KensWorldRestorations
    @KensWorldRestorations 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Great looking bike. Truth is, today’s most modern R1 can only best a 1987 FZR1000 1/4 mile time by about 7/10ths of a second, all other things being equal. 0-60 for the 87 FZR was about 3 seconds and it’s about 2.8 for the 2020 R1. Nearly 40 years and that’s all you get. I’d rather ride something like yours knowing full well that a cheap buzz goes a long way. And honestly, I think your bike looks better than anything sold today.

    The gear selector rod you briefly tickle @04:49 in the video, shouldn`t that go through the frame and not in front of it? The only reason I ask is; That is one of my favourite features of the 1999 Yamaha YZF R1. Sorry, I seem to be all over your channel at the moment but, I am truly interested in this motorcycle. I used to own the 2015 60th anniversary ~ Kenny Roberts replica R1 but sadly the ABS failed on me and I ended up throwing it down the road. Now, I ride the 1997 Yamaha YZF1000R ~ Thunderace in Vivid red cocktail and blueish white colour scheme, similar to your stunningly beautiful R1. Awesome machines... 8500rpm is where the fun starts. 🤟🤪 Please, for the love of all that`s motorcycling, get your Go-Pro chin mounted on your helmet, get a sound mod and let us see and hear more of this beautiful classic actually being ridden. Take it easy and enjoy the ride. Best wishes from the Lone Wolf in the lakes. 🕊

We see you at somewhere, we see the bike stood while the engine is running, we hear you turn the bike off. we see the bike from the side and you stood there talking a lot and not saying much. We see good clear footage of the road ahead of you, but we see no beautiful vivid cocktail red of the `99 R1 in shot. Why don`t we ever see you actually riding this bike, hm? I have the Yamaha YZF1000R, the predecessor to the R1 and I carry a tool roll under the seat as that is all that fits under there. The rest of this "must carry" fits in my jacket pockets.
