When I was a girl, I thought he was handsome. Now, decades later, I think he's amazingly handsome and extremely talented!! He was at once a leading man and a great ensemble actor. We are blessed to have him grace our tv screens. God Bless You, Mr. James Drury.
James Drury was a very handsome man with a soft heart and tough when he had to be. I 'd say a real man's man . now don't be laughing. I know there is probably a few people still around that knows what that means. Nothing derogatory at all. He was my kind of man. ❤ ❤
Thanks for posting. I watch The Virginian every day. I love that show. Last year when we went to Montana, we drove up through Wyoming to see Medicine Bow. The Virginian Hotel is there. It was built in 1902 and still operates. It has an original old west dining room and bar. The rooms are decorated like they would have been back then. There is a communal bathroom down the hall. There are a lot of pics of James and Doug and the other boys. They even have the Shiloh Ranch Safe. My son in law looks a lot like James. Hope you and Trampas and Steve are riding the range in heaven. So glad you died in your sleep. You truly were a real cowboy.
If there was a cowboy defined, the Virginian is hands down the fit for it. James Drury is my hero; Im older now and still enjoy watching his style .. The Virginian lives forever.
I had great pleasure in meeting James and his wife Carl Ann when they came to Ireland for a vacation in 2008 a thru cowboy one of the old stock with great principles all lost today in a lot of places R I P to both of them amen 🙏
really enjoyed this thanks, gosh he was so breathtakingly gorgeous! But lots of men are good looking and don't inspire nearly so much affection. Great choice of song and stunning scenery.
I see him on gunsmoke wagon train Rarhide an more cant think of names right now .when he play a bad guy it dont look right. But he plays that good two very good actor miss him so R I P james you were a cowbay an you were the best
If you read the book History of The Virginian you would learn about the real James Drury.I loved his character on The Virginian but his real life was different from his TV character, and not in a good way. Alcoholic - divorced twice etc.Very egotistical. I think he portrayed the man he wished he really was.
I think he had his struggles in life like we all do but I think he overcame them. They had to work very hard to put out a 90 minute show for thirty some weeks a year so it sounds like they all worked hard and played hard to blow off steam.Yes, he was divorced twice but was apparently very happily married to his 3rd wife Carl Ann for 40 years until her death. He also seemed well liked and well regarded by friends and co-workers.
