    Thanks again Dear David. I'm trying to follow your clever advices about joy and the exitment with the nature and nice trike rides. I'm looking foreward to get my first trike. I got disabled and bedridden from an allergic reaction from a vaccine, and have got a message that this will growing worse, but I will enjoy some trike rides and use the trike like an outdoor wheelchair. And I'm exited if I will manage this because I can hardly walk a few steps with crutches on a good day, but together with my doctors we have found that my legs can have almost 30% strength for a while in a laid back position with good neckrest like on a recumbent trike. It's importent with a soft ride because of the injuried nerves, but we think I will make it with full suspension and some cushion effect from 3" wide high volume tires. With the el- assist I hope this can make me come home in a wheelchair-mode if my legs won't go. Excited. Thanks for your advices, you have been really helpful David. Best Regards from Norway

    Great to see it my friend! I'm very happy with my EBO, but I do envy your Rohloff. Can't have one with a hub motor, but I make up for it with the thumb throttle at stoplights.
    The immediate boost in power and average speed are exhilarating, aren't they? I increased my avg from a sedate 7.2 to 11.4 mph now. I have 5 assist levels, but generally stick to level 2. I'm so happy for you...I do wish we could go for a ride together to compare notes!

      Hi Bruce. At some point after I've put some miles under the new trike I will talk about the Rohloff, the e-assist and I think the suspension. Not so much from a technical standpoint but from a usage standpoint. Based on my one ride though, I love the Rohloff! Around here 14 gears are plenty and having each twist of the handle move up or down an equal amount all the way through the range is nice. Mechanically it functioned perfectly and being able to shift while stopped is a very nice touch. The one thing I have to get used to are the twist shifters. I'd been riding with thumb shifters since 1990. Even when I was riding a road bike I had thumb shifters at the ends of my handlebars as well as on my old tike. Yesterday I kept reaching my thumb up to shift and there was nothing there!

The more positive I hear about the e-assist the better chances are I’ll add it, so keep letting us know how amazing it is. That bike is a beauty. Took the same one for a test ride a a few months ago. • @DavidRidesaTrike
      @DavidRidesaTrike  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kmccarr I think about doing a long trip ALL the time. There are two obstacles however. One, I have a lot of meds that can't be exposed to extreme temperatures so depending on the lenght of the trip, I'd have to have some sort of insulated carrier in addition to my other gear. The other hurdle is my vision, or lack thereof. I could never do a road ride alone. With someone I trusted I would be okay. And a third hopefully temporary problem is Covid. Right now even though I'm fully vaccinated, the vaccine has little to no effect on transplant patients and I've been told to behave as if I was unvaccinated. On top of that my transplant meds cause me to have a very compromised immune system. So, if I get Covid (or any viral or bacterial infection for that matter) it hits me exceptionally hard.

    • @DavidRidesaTrike
      @DavidRidesaTrike  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm loving the Rohloff. Very reliable although granted, I've only had it a short time. Being able to shift when stopped or shift multiple gears at once is really nice. Regarding the twist grip. This is the first bike or trike I've owned with a twist grip. I always had thumb shifters on my DF bikes since the late 80s as well as on my last trike. I am still getting used to the twist grip. Sometimes I still reach up with my thumb to shift. But making the switch hasn't been too bad. It doesn't require a lot of effort and you can do it without a really tight grip.
