It is super nice to see someone who is not completely wasteful. 99% of people would’ve ripped that kitchen out and put something really ridiculously modern in. So happy to see that they saved some thing In the kitchen
I remember the first video and thinking that someone very special would have to be the buyers. The amount of money that would have to go into rehabilitation was staggering. So much money in areas that wouldn't even be seen. Before you every started on cosmetically bringing the house back to it's former glory. But whoever bought it truly loves it. It's as beautifully sturdy and it's as loved in it's refurnishing. They haven't skipped a single detail from the woodwork to plasterwork, to rehabbing all the windows and making every architectural detail magnificent. Well done to the new buyers and thanks for bringing this house to the right people Kevin and Laine.
They really impressed me! Minus the bathrooms they were gorgeous before all of the period material, original fixtures, the tile! Ugh that made me so sad! Especially the plastic tub over a original claw foot. But the rest really did impress me.
Loving your videos, we purchased a 1924 colonial revival in Houston, TX, and have been transforming it back to its original look after past owners did a 90's style update.
When I first saw the house, I was so impressed with so so many features I fell in love with it. The restoration is absolutely mind blowing. The clean, soothing colors along with the gorgeous but not too plentiful furniture are so homey. I must say the style of lighting and its arrangement are beyond lovely and enchanting. All the bathrooms simply blew me away. Windows, fireplaces. Need I say more. Thank you, Laine, for this extremely enjoyable presentation. HugZ🤗🤗🤗🤗
That sleeping porch brings back memories. We lived in a mansion in Waynesboro PA that all 8 bedrooms had it's own sleeping porch. I spent many a stormy day and night out there.
The home 'screams': "Thank you. You made me pretty again!" I once lived in a 1902 house with a similar mantel piece at 15:30. Our floor tile was green. I wasn't crazy about the chimney facing at 18:30 but reminded myself that the project was a "rehabilitation" as you would reiterate later, Laine. Thank you to current owners for their work and for allowing us to see payoff.
Stunning house, great restoration. Seems like back in the 1970s the formal dining room was divided to create that big kitchen and that tiny dinning room off the mens parlor. I dont understad why that huge "sun room" isnt staged as a grand dining room , more fitting to the scale of the home. Keep up the wonderful work.
lol, this just shows how different everyone’s taste is, I did not like their choice of color at all! And then to use it in various shades through the whole house was a turn off for me. Other than that, the house is beautiful.
It's a wonderful renovation. Was there a sale on sky blue paint, lol? The interior decoration is a bit incongruous and inappropriate to the build, but it would cost a fortune to furnish a home like that. The window dressings alone...
I remember this house and I’m incredibly happy to see such a fantastic restoration of it. I watch all your videos and every single time one of these beauties is for sale I always hope that whoever gets it doesn’t ruin it. Great job! And thanks for follow up.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤. These folks had some deep pockets but did an excellent job. I find it odd that they see selling just after 3 years though. I just hope the people who buy it respect its history and condition!
On Zillow it sold in 2021 for $385,000. I realize they put a lot of cash into this renovation. Selling now for 1,140,000 since July 2023. Lot's of money to be had...
Oh my! So much love and attention to period detail was put into this glorious home. Well done to the current owners! I am in awe with what has been done to her. She will be able to be treasured for many years to come.
The entrance to this masterpiece has an exquisite view of the windows!! The walls are my favorite color and it's perfect with the mahogany furniture! Great job, Laine!!
Lovely house, although it has a somehow intricate layout, which might have been a little bit of a challenge. I remember the original video and it is a relief to see that the original features were preserved. For my taste, I would have tried to achieve a more age appropriate look to the bathrooms and the kitchen, but that is just a matter of taste, and presumably of means. I hope the current owners see their hard labour compensated and that the new owners honour and enjoy that lovely house. Thanks Laine and Kevin for your work brining these beautiful houses to all of us leaving in flats. In that way, we get to virtually enjoy them.
I love seeing the soul of a house before renovation and watching that soul shine after! It gives me all the feels watching these videos. Thank you for taking the time to tour these homes. It gives me inspiration for my 1890’s Gem.
I absolutely love this home. Thank you for sharing it! I have a very, very similar home and have tried to find those colors, especially on the second floor but keep missing. My home was also built in 1904, with the columns and all. It’s my dream house but it was pretty neglected. My husband and I were excited to restore it but he died and I’ve been on my own winging it with our children. Non stop projects, and contractors who ran off with our money. I am only the third owner. It’s my forever dream home. Your videos help so much! I’m always searching for a house like mine and this is the closest I’ve ever seen. Thanks again!!!
WOW! I love this house. From what I can tell on the TV, the color palette is so calming and restful. I love it all. The rehabilitators did a wonderful job.
What a Spectacular home! I’m so happy to see a place returned to its former glory. I see so many videos of abandoned places being left to just decay beyond salvage, not even going in to try to save what is possible to use in another place. But to see one correctly and beautifully restored (I forgot which description you did should be used, sorry. I’m just glad to see this one saved! Thank you for sharing.
Well, kudos for not painting the woodwork or destroying the wood floors on the first floor. Not much was changed on the first floor; other than, painting, cleaning and a light kitchen makeover (new countertops, flooring and appliances). The second floor "rehab" was a tad bit more: new flooring and complete bathroom makeovers. There was massive work done on the 3rd floor (not convinced that it was necessary - probably just more fun for the owners to express themselves). So, overall, interesting to see, home is nicely decorated. I can't really say that I would rate it as a "rehabilitation"; more a refresher as you would do with any home that you were going to flip. Again, I must say that I am relieved that the beautiful wood was not painted over.
Hello Kevin and Lane I woke up a couple times during the night and don’t know why I thought of the both of you. I thought I pray all is well with them. I subbed and hit the notification bell but NEVER GET NOTIFIED Had to look you up. So glad you are both good. God be with you both Judy. ❤
This video made me so happy. I am so glad she had her shine back and someone didn't ruin her. BTW this video shows how much y'alls editing and camera skills have improved. ❤
Not only is this one of the most spectacularly perfect houses I've seen, but it has been furnished as if someone was specifically catering to my taste. Love, love, love!
I was trying to decide if that was light blue or sea foam green. Someone sure does love that color. i like that better than grey all over a house though. I'm so sick of white/beige/grey/dark grey all over an entire house.
@@kateg7298 Me, too! I painted my living room and dining room that seafoam color about 20 years ago, then dark peacock blue (obviously I like blue)! But now I'm thinking something lighter 🤔 because I would like to sell, soon.
Wow! This house has been designed masterfully. I will be watching this many times! Laine, fabulous job showing this beauty. I think the choice of color is gorgeous and I love that it was used all over the house. You guys are just the best ❤️❤️❤️
A beautifully done rehabilitation. It’s interesting to see what an excellent videographer Kevin has become. I’m not sure I would have put that gorgeously shiny marble on the bathroom floors⚠️but it is lovely. Thank you for bringing us such a great “before and after.”🌸
GOOD EVENING - Dang! Outstanding indeed. Those who made this place come alive again, did it right......what a layout !!! Thanks for the tour....couldn't take my eyes off the screen. Love to you both. Be safe.
I could whine and complain on how some elements the owners added will be dated- but I’m not. Not here. When hundreds, if not thousands of equally deserving homes are being left to rot, while this one has been blessed by respectful caretakers who know what they have!! ❤️🙂❤️ Kudos to them and thank you for sharing!
This was great! Beautiful job. Glad to see all the wallpaper gone; it just doesn't look right with neo-classical features. Simplicity and a cohesive color palette (since there are open sight lines between so many of the rooms) are key for this style of home. This is a lot of house, but it feels light and airy, with the open archways, interior glass doors and windows, and an amazing number of sun rooms/porches. Thanks for going back and editing in the before & after clips. :)
I'm so glad to see they did not destroy the original tiles on the fireplace, even left the damage. You just can't find those tiles anymore. Love how they turned the ballroom into a little efficiency apartment. Sad that it was fixed up to be sold again.
I think in redoing the home, the owners reused the best of what was, while showing respect for the lines of the home when adding the modern features. I'm glad the owners of the home let you do the before and after; because it really shows what can be done to breath new life into an old home. I think I might have commented on the original video; so I may be repeating myself, but I just love the interior window arches! And although far from original, they sure brought back the beauty of the woodgrain of 70's kitchen cabinets. Also, great use of the attic space; not to mention what a difference an exterior color change and paint job can make. The exterior color sure brought back the stately presence of the home. As usual, superb job with the video; thank you for bringing it to us. 🙂
I hated to see the unglazed penny tile floor go in the upstairs bathroom with a wooden toilet for those super modern shiny floors. But for all the good that was done to this house I guess that’s a small sacrifice.
I remember this house 🩵. 10:22 p.m here in Western Australia. If you could describe "love" in a home restoration. To me. This is it! Thank you so much Lane & Kev for sharing & thank the wonderful owners 💞 Good Night from W.A friends.
They did a stunningly beautiful job. The fact that they had so much of the original character there was a boon. Those hideous carpets hid and protected some beautiful floors. They made some very smart choices. For disabled me, an elevator would be necessary. But I could never afford this house.
Such a beautiful home. I was a little surprised at the dining room. It does not have any of the grandure of the rest of the rooms. But what a magnificent restoration.
I have the exact same tile in the entry of my 1961 Ranch Style house in El Paso Texas! I had to scrape off wax from the tile. It still resembles the tile in your house. The house is beautiful! You did a great job.

The robins-egg blue filling every room, also feels cold. Historically, these rooms would have had beautiful wallpapers in rich colors. This feels more like a remodel than a restoration.
I’d buy the house just for the staircase and landing. Big Christmas tree set up on that landing every year with garland down the bannisters of the staircase.
That pastel blueish green is something I only expect from boomer or gen x in my country since I’ve always see them tend to choose bright or pastel colors. It’s not my kind of choice since it made the wood and the floor look very awkward but hey- choices are for those who bought it. Not my favorites but its alright.

Wow, that arched French door is amazing! 🎉

Your house must be beautiful. We did the same thing on a much smaller scale in Galveston on a 1920 beach cottage and we love it's history.
Omg I want to see a photo before and after!!

Beautiful home! Loved the sea glass blue color through out the house. It ties it all together and shows off the wood beautifully! Fantastic!

I totally agree about the chimney facing. It's completely out of place and screams 2010 "Builder Basic" to me.
Yeah I’m not a fan of that fireplace either. The opening is small and way out of proportion. And jarring in a house with exquisite oak mantels.
Stunning house, great restoration. Seems like back in the 1970s the formal dining room was divided to create that big kitchen and that tiny dinning room off the mens parlor. I, too, love the restful & peaceful color. It's just beautiful to me.
I particularly liked the paint color because it merged into the background while highlighting the beautiful architecture of the surrounding pieces.
It's a wonderful renovation.

The robins-egg blue filling every room, also feels cold. Historically, these rooms would have had beautiful wallpapers in rich colors. This feels more like a remodel than a restoration.
That’s why I clearly said it’s a rehabilitation, and pointed out the difference between restoration, preservation and rehabilitation
It IS better than that mustard yellow tho. And bein the hot, humid South, if there is no a/c... light cool colors, can be a good thing.
I’d buy the house just for the staircase and landing. Big Christmas tree set up on that landing every year with garland down the bannisters of the staircase.
Sublime!💗
That pastel blueish green is something I only expect from boomer or gen x in my country since I’ve always see them tend to choose bright or pastel colors. For me, the only disappointment was the bathroom: a house of that age would've had a claw-foot tub, not a modern tub.
They had 2 claw foot tubs in that house after the redo , looks like they move one to the 3rd floor
Wow💞
