That’s a gorgeous property and the house seems so much larger on the inside than from the outside. I loved seeing the ruins of Windsor. Ever since I first learned of it (on the cover of Constance Greiff’s book ‘Lost America”) I’ve wanted to see it. What a treasure !
A beautiful house and estate . Anyone who lived there and worked there , were very privileged , especially since it has been proven how well all the estate workers were cared for.
Stunning house and property. Watching your channel (and watching homesteader/farmer channels) tells me that if I ever start really exploring America, I'd hafta stay in the country for YEARS as there is so much to see and so much history to learn. I love the history of America. Wish I were American!!
My husband and I spent the night here about two years ago on our anniversary. Just have to state that while I loved the video tour please be aware that a video cannot do justice to the beauty and grandeur of this home. While elegant it never felt stuffy, it just left you with a delicious double scoop of fresh summer sherbet of southern hospitality. It would be a turn key B and B for the right buyer.
Another wonderful tour, and educational too. This is such a beautiful home, and I love it when the owners furnish these old homes with antiques. Whoever did this has exquisite taste. Thanks, Laine!
I'm so happy you did this tour! My husband and I stayed there a couple years ago and throughly enjoyed our stay. Jim & Diane are so sweet, so kind and loved talking about the history of the house and family during the Civil War, I soaked it all up! I saw a couple of the items I dug up in the shadow box, yay! Beautifully done tour, thank you!! The house is as beautiful as I remember ❤
Hi Laine and Kevin! Wow, wow, wow! Canemount Plantation! Now that's a very nice, fascinating place inside and out. That music in the video made me envision classical ballerinas donning regal finery leaping, lunging their arms in a right to left sway, sashaying up those stairs to the 2nd floor, and prancing from room to room, and plié-ing and spinning around throughout all of the rooms of that beautiful, exquisite, spectacular home with big smiles on their faces. That original kitchen, wine cellar, and pool house outbuilding's interior is completely breathtaking. At the first glance of the main Canemount house, I thought it had a weatherboard facade. However, Laine, once you stood by its facade to show that awesome fanning wood design on the porch floor, I realized it has a brick facade. Thank you for recognizing, respecting, and paying homage to those two graves at Canemount. I really appreciate that you and Kevin did that! As it relates to the ruins of Windsor, you can tell by the columns that that was once a magnificent house. I really enjoyed this video! Til the next time.... GOD bless!
I rarely comment, but I must say that this sweater was made for you, dear. It's lovely, particularly with your dark hair. Thank you for another great tour! Come to western North Carolina and tour the Biltmore House. It's exterior is to mimic French country homes of 1600s-1700s(?), but the interiror is 'state of the art' for 1890s. It's impressive. I enjoy the architecture and thought you both might as well.
What a beaituful home. I am so happy you got to see Windsor Ruins as well. A sad and haunting place you can imagine the besuty that once was there. The family is also has a cemetery there. From the time as a child when I first saw the Ruins in Raintree County i wished to visit there. Many movies were filmed here. Thanks for sharing.
Que MARAVILLOSA CASA...QUE HERMOSOS PAISAJES!!....debe ser grandioso pasarse un día allí y disfrutar no solo de su elegancia, sino de su fascinante entorno...🦋🍁🍂
I absolutely love this, very similarly to this story after the Civil War a lady that went by Aunt Salle stayed with the family as part of their family, and I decorate her grave every Memorial Day for a descendant who I was very close to before she passed away at almost 100.
Oh Elaine how do you find these magnificent homes? I kept thinking during your tour and looking at all the stunning antiques that strangers are going to come in and pack it all up😣. I don’t think I could live through it. Thank you again for showing us another beautiful historic home❤
Thank you so much Laine and kevin for this wonderful tour. This is one of my favorite old properties I love love love the simple elegance of it. Truly the style I prefer. If I were younger and had the resources I would feel so blessed to take her on as a steward. I don't belive in slavery but it is uplifting to know the family appeared to have cherished and respected the family that was enslaved there. To the point they didn't want to leave. I also am of Irish heritage so fitting. Oh well I can dream!!! The property has been so loved over the years impeccable condition God bless their souls!!! Thank you again absolutely love your channel.
Another entrancing tour, as only you can do, of a beautiful property. Particularly interesting was the unique architecture of the main home and lovely use and preservation of the brickwork and ceilings. The trim is exquisite and much more to my tastes, but I also noted the use of curves on the corner, something I love. Thank you again!
What a beautiful home. So sympathetically decorated. That beautiful painted wall colour at main entrance. It's kind of beige but gold then yellow depending on the light. Imagine living there.
I think this is my favorite by far! I love that you know your terminology for architecture and you can express what you see so very well. It makes me sad to think how these people became rich and what if they paid for the services of their workers thenthis could be a very different world I think
What a wonderful property! So interesting to see the "northern" door surrounds and no pocket doors between the stair hall and the parlors. I've noticed marked differences in the room sizes in these homes, though the general layout is usually the same. A very wide central hall, huge dining room, and smaller parlors. Perhaps the quiet religious lady did not approve of dancing? I love the upgrades done with the kitchen and bathrooms in this home. Very much in keeping with the style and vintage; I always like light colored painted cabinets with a dark countertop. The old kitchen is fascinating. The wine cellar was likely once the creamery. I've seen the Windsor columns in another video. Glad to learn they will be preserved in their beautiful state of decay. Thanks for always including the bits of history and personal stories in these tours. They are a cut above. :)
Great video. Thanks for sharing. This is a great property had no idea of this home in Lorman. I especially love the B&B area. This a place that is more livable than some. Love the furniture !!
The original home (now a guest cottage), kitchen, dairy, pool house, and outbuildings were constructed in the 18th century, around 1789. So, when I am in the kitchen and dairy talking about the 18th century I am referencing the correct time period.
❤ Thank you for another wonderful tour of a historical home. Love, love, love your channel!!! I've seen Windsor ruins and loved them. So glad they are being looked after. Traveled by Alcorn College on route to Natchez but had no idea such a beautiful property was so near. Thanks again!!
You guys do such a great job showing those wonderful old homes! You deserve some commission from the realtors if they sell! 😉 I have always loved Windsor. Am so thankful for the soldier who sketched her so many years so we can know what she looked like before she burned. ❤
Oh my goodness that was spectacular! Love the history and the Fan porch floor! Being a flooring tech that’s the first thing I would see! Thank you for sharing! And I had to Google Windsor! What a spectacular place that is ! I bet it was a jaw dropper back in its day!
I'm curious, is the furniture all included? Seems a shame that a B & B would not have the antiques in the historic building. Love what has been done and having it turned into the B & B so everyone ( well more than one family) can enjoy the beauty.
This was absolutely amazing! I thoroughly enjoyed this video! Thank you for making it! Evocative, was the perfect word! Also, a little gut wrenching, those columns look like the bones of a great creature. And that house is just beautiful, I never knew about that, fan corner on the porch. It’s funny. That house wants to be so over the top and the owner was like, “tone it down, we’re not in the loud north no more”
So do you all still have Melly and Willa houses on the back burner since you are taking on this current massive reno? How can you keep up with so many projects?
I was shocked, the only spanish land grant I know is in NM. Shouldn't this be from French hands. I really loved this tour, so much unique stuff but the feel of the property is not I'm old look at me. More I've been lived in for more than 100 years and I serve still. Museum quality with lived in feel.
The Spanish arrived in Florida in 1539 and controlled land in FL, LA, and MS. The Paris treaty of 1763 gave them official control of land in MS up to Natchez
Why all that brush round a nice house? Someone a chain saw? Fiwst the price: 1.6 million for a 40 acre estate is not exagerrated. Inside it is beautiful. The thing is not everyone will like this specific plantation style. I has history and for some that history will be dark. Honestly I don't like the landscaping that covers off too much the estate. I also find that well pretty dumb. I wanna see more staright architectural lines. It is tea party all over and I only drink coffee.

I am absolutely over the moon for this house.. It has everything ❤

That is so nice to hear especially now when it seems to have become popular to down the U.S.

GOOD MORNING - Serious building back in the day was grand and lasting. This is one of them. Thank you both for your time and talent. Be safe.
I love this channel. The beautiful homes you both show are just breathtaking.
What beautiful landscape and buildings.
Such a beautiful home and property! I LOVE this channel! Thank you so much, ‘Our Restoration Nation’ for bringing these homes of history to us! ❤🏚🏠❤

OMG...so so beautiful! 🥰
That was great! The story at the end put a bow on it. I noticed the free mason insignia on one of the grave stones as well.
O.. M.. G.. and HOLY COW !!!!! That's gorgeous.

Your genuine presentations are wonderful and full of knowledge.
Thank you.
What a treat!!! BEAUTIFUL!!!
I LOVE FELICITACIONES ES HERMOSO Y ELEGANTE
So glad you made it by Windsor
Thank you for sharing the history of the enslaved people who left their mark in tangible and intangible ways.
Love this home.
So many wonderful possibilities. It truly looks out of this world. Isn't that where we all want to be. 😊❤
Yes for sure!
What a beautiful well preserved house.

Wow! My favorite thus far!
Always love your commentaries of historical sites. Thanks Laine and Kevin. Love you to bits. Cheers,

Beautiful place!
Lovely property
Another wonderful tour. What an amazing collection of furniture. The stair rail made of walnut is gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing.
Can you imagine the peace and tranquility?? AND to be surrounded by all that history. What a fantastic property and very interesting video!
I love how excited you get over little features like the fanned porch floor. It's adorable!
This home is just breathtakingly beautiful! I was able to see the Windsor Ruins a year ago & so eerily beautiful.
This Home is Stunning ♥️⭐️♥️⭐️♥️
Thanks for the bonus of Windsor.🥰

Stunning……
Nice way to put the porch floor in!! Great carpentry!!
Absolutely gorgeous!!! ❤ I think you mean to say the 19th century if built in 1851. The 18th would be the 1700s. Thanks for showing!!

Another fabulous video - thanks for all you do!! ❤❤❤
I absolutely love the large orches and columns. I never knew about "fan cuts" and most likely would have never noticed had you not pointed them out.

Another excellent video but I have to say the music made me so tense. 😬
Excellent video ❤❤
So do you all still have Melly and Willa houses on the back burner since you are taking on this current massive reno? How can you keep up with so many projects?
We’ve definitely had to focus on this project. We’ve sold Melly but still own Scotty, Willa and Helen.
Pegs also for drying herbs
How tall are the Windsor columns!??😮
I'm only guessing, but I'd say 30 feet.
They. Are. Huge. It’s hard to convey on camera. Really spectacular!
❤
Any pic of Windsor platation? Cant imagine what it looked like!
I’ve seen a couple simulations. Try Googling it.
This property has been for sale for a very long time. I wonder why it hasn't sold yet?
Because it’s very expensive
Yo, no eh visto el vídeo pero no la vendería?

@@OurRestorationNation pretty sure that St. Augustine is older than that.
I'm pretty sure you are wrong. St Augustine was founded in 1565, 26 years after the Spanish first arrived in the region
@@OurRestorationNation you’re correct I was thinking of 1526 and San Miguel de Gualdape in SC (mixed up with St. Augustine).

Can you put a link to the listing 😊
