I'm a 2nd year law student. Whenever exams, class or homework begin to stress me out I watch a few of your videos. They are entertaining, wholesome, educational and for some reason really relaxing to me. Thank you for sharing with us your hobby beekeeping way of life!
Always good to see you working for the bees with your family. Hugs to all! The topic is a great one, with the recipe shared, the process shown, and certain precautions demonstrated in the best way! Love to see your bees eating pollen patties and bringing in the first pollen of the year. Happy New Year for sure for sure!
I’m a Londoner from England and though I’ve been to USA several times, I certainly know where I’m heading next!!. Thanks for sharing fellas, great information and even better laughs.I envy your pace of life
Thanks for the recipes Rooster. And for you where hobby beekeeping is a way of life in francais ......... où l’apiculture passé-temps est un mode de vie. I gare...on....teeeeee! Like Mr Wilson said. Pollen patties produces professional pure honey production particularly propagating pretty pure liquid gold.
Hello there DirtRooster. I had no idea that pollen patties existed before watching you video, so I've learned something new thanks to you. Your bees look velvety and healthy and happy. Thank you for sharing and see you soon.
I remember watching Justin Wlson as a kid and him measuring in his hands. He'd say don't believe me this is a 1/4 spoon. He'd transfer it to a spoon and be right everytime. Always blew my mind. He was also funny as all heck.
Bringing in pollen day after Stephens day here in South of Ireland, unreal! Love to see what is going on at the same time in your neck of the woods thanks again guy's!
We are chomping at the bit waiting for spring to get here so that we can get back to the bees. We are in central Maine so at the moment they are all tucked in for the winter. Thanks for sharing. We definitely appreciate the mentoring you provide the bee community.
Interesting video! I've just joined my local county apiary club and I can't wait till springtime to start working with my girls. Been watching your videos for a couple years now and I've learned a lot from you and Mr. Ed. Thanks for the videos, keep them coming! Be safe, keep a goin!!! PS Justin Wilson is my idol when it comes to Southern Cajun cookin!!!
Justin "I guarantee" Wilson ... Loved that guy Lived in New Orleans at the time he was doing his thing, everyone knew he wasn't Cajun but we loved him anyway, he had a good run!
The cinnamon trail thing your dad was talking about actually does work! We’ve been buying bulk ground cinnamon for our family ranch since dirt. Some tv bug guy said that they cannot “breathe” through the cinnamon dust. Regardless, works for us!
The family dynamic is so wonderful to see. And I just love the quick wit you all have! Had me laughing when weighing the sugar. "Says it right here on the scale. Look, It says Tare." That was awesome! Love the content! Thanks for sharing.
Great video- laughed so hard at you guys measuring all your ingredients. Look at all the green where you live- grass and bushes. Wyoming is cold, snowy - brrrrr. We will thaw out eventually. Love watching you with those wonderful bees.
The other day, my mom told me that Justin was my grandfather's favorite show - which started in 1971. That explains him always saying "I gar-un-tee it."
I remember my favorite Cajun cook. I learned a lot from him growing up. I also am needing a great winter feeding recipe for bees but i am in the snow country.
Justin Wilson had a saltine cracker salad recipe, to the best my memory can recall 30 yrs later, my mama and I tried it . The salt he called for was enough to call the cows in. I grew up watching him on PBS.
Randy that hive was a big ass hive, nice to see all your new videos in 2020. I am also glad to see your dad. he looks good man. also good to see your brother and carpenter friend. Looking forward to a great year of videos. Gods grace in the year 2020. your fan and friend Keith.
This might already be mentioned but if you'll dump that oil into the picture and swirl it around a bit and then dump the honey in. All the honey I'll just slide right out with no scraping and no waiting forever for it to drip on out. Great video. Thanks for sharing the recipe and the laughs
I remember Justin Wilson talking about his dog “Phydeaux”, (Fido). Chemistry can be very dangerous business and it’s always wise to wear your optic orange t-shirt to warn unsuspecting members of the general public of potential hazards from noxious gases and blender mishaps.
Thank you for saying Justin Wilson's name. I've been trying to remember it for a while now because I've been wanting to find some of his recipes. I used to love watching him.
Oh yeah! I watched Justin Wilson! Even here in PA I wanted gumbo and my mother had no idea! For years as a kid. Before cable, wasn’t much on tv during the mid-day if you were off school or home sick. All those PBS cooking shows were what I watched.
Am jus watching this Video for the second time,,learning the recipe,,hoping and praying I catch a Swarm this Season,,difficult to find a wild colony,,,Randy has a Huge Sense of Humor,,Would Spend Days Around Him Joking about Everything,,,🇱🇨👊👍🖤
I buy my patties they’re the same recipe as you use ! I only run 27 hives at all times . All I have room for I sell nucs when I need too split ... been using one every spring since I started keeping bees love it and oh my do my hives start strong 💪🏽! I now officially have left my normal work too tend bees grow mushrooms and sell at farmers markets full time honey pollen wax products mushrooms!
With your layout problem, it makes me think that would be a great project for some grad student in operations management or engineering figuring out the most practical layout for your production line. It's small enough scale to no be overwhelming, but allows one to put classroom learning into practical application and how what sometimes looks great in theory doesn't work in practice given limitations on budget, time, or building dimensions. If you guys are still fiddling with the layout, maybe reach out to an operations management professor at MSU, Jackson State, or Mississippi and see if they have a grad student who might be interested in that as their thesis or dissertation.
Justin Wilson was cool. He’d measure salt in his hand and put it back in the teaspoon to show you he measured right. I’ll be making some this weekend. Not that big of batch size though. That mixer is a beast. That concrete core rolling pin is a great idea. I have some of those. 👍👍🐝🐝
@@628DirtRooster I just emailed him my offer to volunteer. Can I ask you a question? I'm doing bees when my Nuc is ready. I have used hives & am putting new wax foundations in. Should I buy some drone foundations & some smaller celled foundations? Or is it just any wax foundation?
Reminds me of a canadian beekeepers blog. He blocks the path with his truck and theres literally millions of bees flying into each other when he moves.
No early spring here in north Alabama high in the 30s low in the 20s next week. Been in the 70s for a few days and everything is trying to bud out and flowers trying to bloom. Great video yall had fun making that i am sure .🐝👍
It's 19 tonight, after being 55 in the afternoon. We got freezing rain/snow coming Friday night, then it's supposed to be 45 Saturday with all day rain, and barely 30 on Sunday here in SW Ohio. Honestly, I don't know what freakin' season it is!
Got inspired by your post on fb earlier and made a patty for my weaker hives from honey and pollen substitute... found one dead out and stored that hive away... lazy bees meet lazy beekeeper...
A suggestioin. Draw up the layout to some scale like 1" = 1' (or some other 'scale') and make little cardboard plan view cutouts of your equipment and furniture. Put tooth picks on these pieces. You can easily move about the stuff to your hearts content with just 1 plan.
I researched a lot of different brood builder recipes and I would point out that many have reduced the lemongrass oil down to just a couple drops due to the tendency to cause robbing. Interested to hear your experience with this batch.
I have been seeing bees bring in pollen for about a week here. I am a couple hours north of you. I better get ready for spring because i think its gonna be wild
I love watching you guys! You make me laugh! And that's what we all need right now!!!
So glad to bring some joy. Thanks for watching.
Love seeing the videos with your dad . You got to cherish every moment
Cherish these times you have with your family!
Love your videos. This was cool to see all the bees coming back with pollen!

I don`t follow recipes when i cook. Well, except when making rice.
It don't matter how good you measure if you're making biscuits with baking powder that expired nine years ago.
Just spoiling us with all this content. 2020 is a good year so far!
Just banging them out before we get too busy. In two months one a week will be hard.

im in canada and i think i remember him....was he a older guy who use to say Onions funny, like ownions. I seem to remember suspenders. Heheheheheheh
Grew up with Justin Wilson! He taught me how to fry a turkey, Cajun Style!!!
Miss Justin Wilson , onyon was my favorite word he said all the time, still watch his videos.

Jealous, it's 6 degrees F in NE Will try this pollen patty out, I add anise oil to mine and they do prefer that over store bought. Thanks for sharing
Great video Randy. Its good to see your Dad up and about. I think all those bees found a hole in your pollen sub bag, :)
Loved watching Justin Wilson, he was a hoot!
