When you say field bees will attend the queens, help me understand? Foragers? The pot was super cool. I love seeing the bees take advantage of what I do. They are so opportunistic, but smart...
Yes sir, I was referring to foragers. They will forget home and join a queen at random sometimes. Works out to be a pretty good way to hold queens aside without going through the normal processes of setting up a bank.
Randy, you must have been reading my mind because I’ve been wondering how’s the best or easiest way to bank a few Queens. You said you could bank them this way for a week, is the the longest time frame to be safe? Thanks!
If your ever in sc id appreciate it if you could give my daughter some pointers on checking our hives. I still have awhile before i can get them since my leg was amputated mid may. @@Gayle.McConnaughey Quite the opposite Gayle. If you've been keeping bees long enough you'll know that banking queens is common practice among people who raise queens.
I have a nuc that's ready to move to a bigger hive can I bank a queen with them until I split them or would it be better to just put them in a 10 frame and build them out in a 10 frame before splitting
remove the stinger at once, pinch the area hard where you got stung, now put the cold water to that area. in 20 min. you should feel fine. the trick is the pinch which gets the venom out fast. keep the uploads rolling D.R.
In relation to the intro related to availability of water; is a neighbour with a salt water pool going to negatively effect a hive? Should I be providing an alternative source of water in the absence of a natural source? FYI, my Dirt Rooster hat is still in transit to Canada….I can hardly wait!

Why don't you put the bits of comb you scrape off when doing inspections in your smoker to keep it going after all its used to make candles
Said as a Canny Scot
Worth more as cosmetic grade beeswax. New unused white comb.
So is banking a queen a means of introducing a queen to a hive technically?
No, it is a means of keeping a queen alive and well until there is a hive where she can be introduced.
