A few of these drivers didn't deserve to be pulled over--can't stand overzealous cops. Rail safety is vital, but some of these people weren't in violation of anything. Hope they contested the ticket/citation.
I hate that intersection!! It just too busy of a area. With the ship yard and the navy base plus the trolley and train. The train and trolley should go over or under. When the ship yard lets out at 230 or 30 it a crazy mad house of people just wanting to go home!
Is running a set of locos back and forth across a crossing really the right way to enforce railroad law? The trolleys already hold up enough people so running engines back and forth is only going to make things worse. If they have a problem with people trying to beat trains at this crossing the city should really consider replacing it with an over/underpass.
Wow. That first grey sedan and last black car didn't do anything wrong. Is this really the best way to promote safety? BNSF and the police department trolled hard on this one.
Very cool, however a better mixture of filming the police pulling cops over versus the train going back and forth 90% of the video would have made it more compelling like the title made it out to be.
Thanks for watching, and the feedback. I tried my best to film the police, but either the clips didn't come out good, or I missed them in action...only had a small number of clips of them in action. They were quick at pulling people over most times.
I actually think this is a great idea. However, if i worked next to that track that day, I would quickly be requesting a sick day and go home. There is no way in hell I would be listening to that train horn and bell and the train crossing alert bells several times and hour the entire day. That would drive me nuts !!!
Im no lawyer but this really looks like entrapment hell Ray Charles could see that it is. Because PD are using the locomotives to run back and forth across the RxR crossing so it will light repeatedly. Thats bullshit because a train or locomotives don't just repeatedly go back and forth over a crossing for the hell of it like in the video. This wouldn't be the regular train traffic that would normally be going on at this crossing. The PD Should have a couple of officers sitting to catch the ones that don't stop when normal train traffic occurs.
Is San Diego really that hard up for traffic fines? The SDPD has nothing better to do than entrap unsuspecting motorists in excessive crossing occupations? How many actual trains use this particular track in a day? At :32, what is with the cycle cop?, that car was in no violation I could see, the crossing was not active! Not only that, the cop stopped on the tracks (against the law that they site you for). And hollering on the PA only adds to confusion! At 2:50, what violation did THAT car do? Again, the crossing was not active that I could see! Maybe you cut out the active crossing parts? Then, the locos. 117 had both headlights and ditchlights lit, and 155 had only the headlights lit. Are ditchlights not really required there? Tho I am for RR crossing safety, this was all kind of extreme overkill!
They didn't bother changing ends. They configured the headlight selector on 155 as long hood trail. The ditch lights wouldn't be able to be on, the headlights were set to dim through this setting. They should have tried to set the 155 to the individual headlight setting but as there was human protection around the crossing they didn't need them. I didn't see anyone protecting the shove, though. Also, ditch lights are required when crossing a public road, at any speed, as required by GCOR. But, if you've got someone protecting the crossing on the ground, they aren't required.
How *STUPID*! Run locomotives up and down the line to create NEEDLESS traffic interruptions where drivers can get citations? What crossing violations? Why not show them? You are allowed to stand on the sidewalk and video.I am an Operation Lifesaver presenter.
Robert Gift Exactly! And one thing I found dumb is when the gates activate while a car is passing, some SDPD pull them over. They are forced to stop, while the damn gates are lowering.
It's not a excuse to break the law and cross against the flashing red lights the traffic tickets are for the safety of the drivers and the train crew if you don't want to pay traffic fines then follow traffic laws simple .
Must have been a good workout for the engineer

Awesome video! Anyone know what kind of horn is on the train?
Those GP60s are pretty crisp. I saw them in the yard last week.
Indeed they are!
Thats the switch power now, those GP60's I dont think they are good for switching.
never get tired of seeing GP60Ms. only wishe they were red and silver warbonnets.
This BNSF SD70M Locomotive Is Awesome.
GoldenPNMRailfan/ROBLOX Entertainment it's not a sd70m it's a gp60m-3

Well they can't have a overpass at every railroad crossing around the world if you don't want to pay traffic fines then don't break the law simple .
Why is it going back and forth
did you read the description guess not
Awesome video and catch!
Dang, that's not a safe area.
Very interesting.
Nice Video

The problem with living in a Nanny / Police state is that someone has to PAY for the Nanny / Police. What did any of these 'offenders' do?
