    So after watching this video I went to purchase the knife but It’s discontinued! Why would they discontinue such a good knife? I wanted to pair it with the choppa. I’m so bummed right now

    I went with the Gerber 420HC fixed blade. 3.2 inch blade. Very lite nice rubberized nice cute outs in the handle. Comes with a great plastic locking sheath. That you can change the angle. I carry it on the front left on my belt, so I can access it with either hand.

    AZWelke is a awesome kydex maker and great customer service. I have 4 sheaths from them and they were all premade. I had 1 sheath for about 6months and it developed a crack, so I called them , not expecting much, and he replaced the sheath , at no charge and free shipping . I though that was awesome.

    Loved this knife because it really fits my needs specially for carry since other knives that I like are really just for going into the woods. This is something I can really carry as a tool, I need to see if they ship to my location (not in USA).

    How does it compare to like an ESEE 3 or 4. Both of those are legal to carry in most places, especially the 3, you can get leather or kydex and spend under 100 dollars in alot of places. Probably still a bit more than the Ka Bar, but with a lifetime warranty that might make up for the 20-25 dollar price difference for me at least. Just curious, awesome video.

    • @redbear_70
      @redbear_70 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Norse Woodsman that's funny saying the globetrotter has better steel. As far as 1095 goes you can't beat the rowen heat treat, period. Now I'm not saying that kabars cro-van isn't good, but it's not superior to esee's. Now for the price, you can get an esee 3 or 4 for around 85-90 if you shop around making it a better purchase than the kabar GT. There's no need to upgrade the sheath either on the esee's, saving time and money. I'm glad you like your knife, but my esee 3 will run circles around it every day and every time.

    If the bk24 came with a 4 finger grip it would be a great edc, the sheath is not to bad either.

  • @Fedaykin8
    @Fedaykin8 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'd be more apt to compare this to an ESEE 3 than an Izula... similar price, when you take into account that it comes with a good Kydex sheath. I prefer the ESEE 3 blade design and micarta too. Plus you can't go wrong with an unlimited lifetime warranty. That having been said, I love K-bar and I think this and the Turok are great knives!

    Had a Globetrotter. Good feel but seemed heavy for the size. Sheath was terrible (and ugly). Returned it. Replaced it with a Benchmade Steep Country knife. $90 on sale from Amazon. Similar size, lighter, and CPM-S30V! Sheath is kydex / leather and Ambidextrous. (I'm a lefty.). You might want to check it out.

    I have been following you for a while and I am with you on neck knives. I think the CRKT SIWI edges out the globetrotter; G10 handle, injection molded sheath and no swedge. Also, I carry that size for backyard edc that is not obtrusive. I use it for fire making for my BBQ. thanks for your videos.

    It's interesting I have just the opposite view with Multitools. Why do I need a heavy, clunky Multitool with crappy pliers that I never use when I can have a compact swiss army knife and get better quality tools than most Multitools have? 99% of the time I need pliers I have access to my regular tools and can use a pair of pliers that don't suck so I just don't see the value. I do put them in my go bags/get home bags but for edc I'll take a Swiss army knife over a Multitool every time.

    Doesn't the KBar Becker necker fit all of your criteria, including the fact you can get micarta in the event you don't want a wrap and a simple metal clip from KBar makes it a belt knife.

    I guess you have changed your mind concerning at least one small fixed blade? Your video "why neck knives suck" was a couple of years ago, but you seemed to feel strongly about the concept against carrying a small fixed blade. Keep growing, good work.

    • @gideonstactical
      @gideonstactical  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      banditgriot ya my mind has not change on that, it’s just that there are people who want a fixed blade, don’t like neck knives, but can’t legally carry something bigger than 3.5”. For them there are not a lot of options. This one fits the bill.

    • @banditgriot
      @banditgriot 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe there are ton of sub 3.5" fixed blades in a wide price range from various makers, even Kabar has a few... However, your endorsement made me think maybe you had come around a bit to the small fixed blade side ;) Oh well, to each his own. I like small fixed blades for outdoor uses such hiking, hunting and fishing or where a folder is likely to get junk in the pivot. Thanks for making the video.

    I've watched just about every video you've put out on knives and you have always said that a full flat grind was best for slicing and what not. Yet in this video you say that this saber grind is best. Have you changed your mind? Also, what's with the esee bashing? You can't compare this knife to the izula 2, period. Why not compare it to the esee 3, which is cheaper in the long run (no need to upgrade anything) and closer to the size of this kabar? Guaranteed the 3 will out-slice and outperform the kabar for any edc purposes.

    • @gideonstactical
      @gideonstactical  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mato Luta thank for the question. As to the grind, a believe is said for overall use I prefer a saber which is true. FFG are great for slicing but lack strength. They’re tips can be week. That is why for a do everything blade I usually prefer a saber. As to the Esee3, blade length is measured from handle to tip. The Esee 3 is 3.75” from handle to tip, and could be considered illegal in places that have a 3.5” knife laws. True that it will out slice the Kabar but the tip is weaker and you may get busted if you carry it. So that is why.

    • @Springfield_7.62x63mm
      @Springfield_7.62x63mm 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@shazzzam79 that's quite odd because I have never seen a Bk series knife break like what you said, not to mention the bk9, part of the reasons for breaking must be due to its skeletonized tang design which leaves large holes in the tang, creating weak spots that lead to catastrophic breakage, I was totally upset about the new revisions of the Becker knives, as the skeletonized tang design was applied to all of them, I wish KABAR can bring back the old designs
