The League of Gentleman, Psychoville, Inside No. 9 - there’s no end to the genius of Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton (and Mark Gatiss and Jeremy Dyson).
You absolute fucking geniuses! Seriously, their work is absolutely impeccablely written, the fact that they even knew this interview would be part of the show is just phenomenal.
Whenever I watch this clip I feel that somehow Gabby actually knows something, just by the way she asks Reece "Are you believers in Ghosts?" and "Nothing ever happens on set?" etc and the way Reece responds. The way he looks at Gabby at about 2.31 and she sort of winks at 2.36 as she asks whether anything happens on set.
Only all those directly involved with the episode (and Mark Gatiss and Jeremy Dyson!) knew . Steve and Reece did not even let their immediate families in on the twist so they could enjoy the show when broadcast. However the producers of Deadline got the producers of the One show to ask this question.
Yeah she had no clue what they had planned, but Adam Tandy (producer of IN9) did ask The One Show producer to ask them this question under the guise of using it as a clip in a documentary on the DVD 😂

At this stage I'm ready to feel the way I did when Psychoville ended and S01E01 of' 'Inside no.9' began.....wow!...and even a bigger WOW! when S01E06 aired (Great Episode). Guys.... I (We...if there's any like minded fans out there also?) know that each episode of No.9 is different....but they're all different collectively. I'm not asking for a return to Psychoville or The League.....their time is done. But perhaps no matter how good .No.9 is.... isn't it time for something new and completely different? I'd rather be castigated, flayed and disowned, than be given a heart side by side with others who are saying the entirely opposite to what I'm suggesting. I love the League et all, but I'd love to see some true grit again. Not a pension fund. Heart that, lol
I love most episodes of Inside No.9 and the concept for this one was good, but the execution just... wasn't (in my opinion, anyway). Some parts were too predictable or on the nose. After watching it, I couldn't tell whether it was an actual attempt at horror, or whether it was supposed to be a kind of satire on the stale horror scene, what with all the cliches used. I have to admit, I was rather disappointed. The writing seemed rushed, and there were a couple of events that broke what little immersion I managed to retain (a spoiler-free example being when Arthur takes a cup out of the microwave straight after use, without burning his hands - though that could be nitpicking).

Probably the cleverest use of 'live' televisual scares since 1992's Ghostwatch. In fact, the ghost was reminiscent of Pipes. Excellent stuff.
