Super excited for you, Moog! Bought a 2011 STI a couple of months ago and I love it! Did you guys know that the 2019 STI's got the Type RA engine from 2018? At least in America they did. It included reinforced pistons, high flow intake, refreshed ECU, and sodium filled exhaust valves. They dyno much higher than the 2018 and older STI's.

I bought a 21 sti back in April w/ 0 miles as a daily. Such a great driving experience, Nice thing about the 19+ is that it come with the RA block so you can add a little more power and not worry about the head gasket as much. Pro tip hold tac mode for 60 seconds to turn off hill assist. Makes it much better when launching the car.
Once you go full bolts ons and a tune, the next step for an RS3 is like 700HP big turbo, 4 drag radial madness. There’s hardly any in between. The car is already SO good at the stage where Moog has it that any more mods would just be taking away from the balance it has now. I guess he could take it to the track but it’s such a consistent car that all the 1/4 and lap times would be within 3% of each other each time. At least with the Subie we get to watch each new video in anticipation of the EJ letting go any second.

I'll agree the content can get a little old with it though, since it will run consistently fast times with likely very few problems. Leaving is always the best tactic. Sometimes it still doesn’t work, but overall is still the best. I once went back and forth on price for a truck. The poor sales guy (who is just the middle man really) eventually asked me know I needed. Came back after saying he couldn’t get it. I walked out. As I was opening my car door with one leg inside he comes running out, says he got approval to give me everything I asked for, PLUS no payments for 90 days as a bonus. They tried to play hard ball but really were desperate in the end. I know that a different place who was making more sales may not have done that and would have let me leave, but as you said, they have a price, you have a price, and you either agree or you don’t in the end. But, I have always gotten the meat results when you start to leave, they always seem to give it one last shot and come down some more.

I'm not going to lie. I was entirely expecting the entire episode that the Subaru was a red herring. Frankly, I'm surprised it wasn't. Now I get it. There is something special about the Subaru STI. The package isn't really something you can get elsewhere, and it's not about numbers. The experience is unique in this modern world. Even journalists who test and compare every new, faster car against it keeps saying the same thing. It's just analog, visceral, and engaging. There's an involvement to it. To have that in the modern world IS special.
I understand completely Moog. I got rid of my Audi A4 to get a Soarer. I couldn't find a manual so I just did a manual swap in the driveway. Have fun with the new unit.
I have a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT Limited. Basically the best legacy you could get in the US before they brought the spec b over in 2006. I upgraded to a vf52 turbo, phat intercooler, stage 3 tune, all the supporting things too. Currently solving some issues with a boost leak but it's gonna be my forever car 😍
Yeah dont understand it for a daily, RS3 rips and sounds awesome. He has manuals for racing/weekend drives so dont really understand his mindset...for a daily/city/traffic, auto is the way to go.

And am looking to sell both for this exact sti spec, audi is so boring and quiet and great for putting around town but nothing like a turbo manual boxer!! If you care about driving a car and enjoying all the sounds and direct feeling of the car then this swap makes sense. Thr audi dulls down all feeling, it's too electronic and the steering and throttle is so computerised. Not raw like the sti

I had a dark blue 2017 STI. God I miss it. It was a childhood dream car. Such a nice vehicle. Enjoy it guys! VA WRX and STI is the best interior and comfort of any of the other models for sure! Also the 19+ has the fixed the pistons too!
Forgot to mention the GR Yaris at end! Manufacturers still producing exciting toys and hopefully the popularity of the GR will spur more manufacturers to follow suit...
The AP is good enough but honestly Cobb sucks since they left Utah (IMO), plus the guys actually work w/ Haltech regularly so my guess would be another Elite unit because it'd probably be free due to being friends w/ the local company & have been promoting their products for so long.
Reminds me of how I got my GT86 off a dealership local to here. It was a loaded every option single owner in silver with black interior with 12k miles that I got for 16k USD. It still had the original tag for 28k the previous summer. An older guy bought it new, put it in his garage, barely drove it because of how low it was, then traded it for a Mustang 10 months later. I ended up selling it off as part for a 2012 Jaguar XKR to compliment my 98 XK8 I rebuilt with a Ford 4.6l DOHC 32v V8 procharged. I'd say I did pretty well in the end, the XKR needed a few things here and there but mechanically and electrically was/is solid.

Think you can blame COVID. Before it hit Al was talking about helping out mcm on some builds, but they all live in different states, whose leaders don’t play well together. Al would have been involved in a non genuine engine upgrade, so I think we will have to wait till the windows of opportunity align again before we see the Gemini build. Thanks China
Yep, but the purpose of the water towers is to reduce pressure If it came to your house at reservoir pressure it would blast a hole through the bottom of your sink.
Most of the water towers here (Louisiana) are for emergency backup only if our water system goes down. Under normal operations it’s pumped from the treatment center. But the gravity feed from the water towers will feed the system for a while if it goes down.
You can work out (approximately) the water pressure at the bottom of a tower by looking at the height of a tower. A 10m tower will produce 1 bar pressure or about 15PSI. That's also the maximum theoretical suction lift of a pump. 1 bar atmospheric pressure pushing liquid up in to the vacuum created by the pump gives you 10m lift.

Marty prefers the older cars feel. New cars with electronic power steering dont have the same feel of being connected to the road. There's a disconnected feeling compared to older nuggets feeling like you have your hands and feet directly on the pavement.
I agree! Nothing like a manual sports car. I tracked a Hellcat SRT Challenger recently, and even though it is hilariously wickedly fast, it sure would have been better as a stick. Auto's take some of the fun out of anything, even the paddleshift type...

Fun fact if a water tower is what serves your town with water that it will typically be the tallest structure in your town. Any building taller will need a pumping station to boost the water pressure.
I had a 2019 STI for 3 years. They made the same engine and gearbox changes that were on the 2018 Type RA on all 2019s. They also had the STI exhaust that was optional in prior years. Despite it being tiny. Also everyone I know who has a 2019+ and an iPhone had Apple Car Play stop working. For me it was related to a USB hub behind the center console, but not part of the actual h/u.
Did that to my Outback last year. Chick I was dating dumped me, so I sold our prestige Shen Yun tickets right before quarantine and bought every single Whiteline bushing for a BH chassis.
I'm strongly of the opinion that the last of an old model year is the best version of a car to buy. All the refinements, some trickledown stuff from the next model year and none of the growing pains of being in a first year vehicle. Plus they're usually priced the best because they're purging them out before the new one comes in if you're buying new.
I also owned a BRZ before and currently have a 2019 STI. Other than the 3rd gear change, the 2019+up have the RA STI internals, so it is safer for a little more power. You have good taste!
Water is supplied primarily through powered pumps, and the towers main function is to compensate for the fluctuations in demand. It is extremely impractical and inefficient to vary the pump output to match the demands of the district, but gravity is ready at a moment's notice.

I hope this is a long series with lots of add ons! I have a built 2019 sti and I've owned quite a bit of cars within that affordable range. FBO Golf r, hybrid turbo swapped Fiesta ST, turbo swapped 2005 GTI, and a bolt on 370Z. The sti bone stock was my favorite car let alone it now built. I look forward to this!!

@@JP_A3 they put a picture on YT of them in the garage for something else and the front of the car was a little visible (I think at the time they were doing the Lotus or shortly before that). That caused the initial speculation, then in one of the videos back when Marty originally got the kei truck you can see it in the background parked in the garage at Marty’s house for a brief moment (a blue SA or FB). After that Marty in another occasion made some indirect comment about people spotting something. It has been a while since that now and some people like myself are anxiously waiting for that project 😂.

It shows you're not just rolling in that TH-cam money, and if you are (which would be absolutely well deserved) maybe you're using it to better your lives and family's lives. Static head is the pressure created by a fluid via elevation change with no flow. Dynamic head is that same measurement but accounting for losses in the line while flowing, due to friction, turbulence and pipe size.

The AP is good enough but honestly Cobb sucks since they left Utah (IMO), plus the guys actually work w/ Haltech regularly so my guess would be another Elite unit because it'd probably be free due to being friends w/ the local company & have been promoting their products for so long.
Reminds me of how I got my GT86 off a dealership local to here. It was a loaded every option single owner in silver with black interior with 12k miles that I got for 16k USD. It still had the original tag for 28k the previous summer. An older guy bought it new, put it in his garage, barely drove it because of how low it was, then traded it for a Mustang 10 months later.
I ended up selling it off as part for a 2012 Jaguar XKR to compliment my 98 XK8 I rebuilt with a Ford 4.6l DOHC 32v V8 procharged. I'd say I did pretty well in the end, the XKR needed a few things here and there but mechanically and electrically was/is solid.
Nice choice. White STi is something. And the EJ25 rumble with a proper exhaust is UNIQUE.

For every meter of elevation in a water tower you gain roughly ~1.42 psi of water pressure.

Most of the water towers here (Louisiana) are for emergency backup only if our water system goes down. Under normal operations it’s pumped from the treatment center. But the gravity feed from the water towers will feed the system for a while if it goes down.
You can work out (approximately) the water pressure at the bottom of a tower by looking at the height of a tower. A 10m tower will produce 1 bar pressure or about 15PSI.
That's also the maximum theoretical suction lift of a pump. 1 bar atmospheric pressure pushing liquid up in to the vacuum created by the pump gives you 10m lift.

Legit surprised when it became clear this was Moog’s new car and not Marty.
Marty prefers the older cars feel. New cars with electronic power steering dont have the same feel of being connected to the road. There's a disconnected feeling compared to older nuggets feeling like you have your hands and feet directly on the pavement.

Fun fact if a water tower is what serves your town with water that it will typically be the tallest structure in your town. Any building taller will need a pumping station to boost the water pressure.
I had a 2019 STI for 3 years. They made the same engine and gearbox changes that were on the 2018 Type RA on all 2019s. They also had the STI exhaust that was optional in prior years. Despite it being tiny. Also everyone I know who has a 2019+ and an iPhone had Apple Car Play stop working. For me it was related to a USB hub behind the center console, but not part of the actual h/u.

I'm strongly of the opinion that the last of an old model year is the best version of a car to buy. All the refinements, some trickledown stuff from the next model year and none of the growing pains of being in a first year vehicle. Plus they're usually priced the best because they're purging them out before the new one comes in if you're buying new.

I also owned a BRZ before and currently have a 2019 STI. Other than the 3rd gear change, the 2019+up have the RA STI internals, so it is safer for a little more power. You have good taste!
Water is supplied primarily through powered pumps, and the towers main function is to compensate for the fluctuations in demand. It is extremely impractical and inefficient to vary the pump output to match the demands of the district, but gravity is ready at a moment's notice.

I hope this is a long series with lots of add ons! I have a built 2019 sti and I've owned quite a bit of cars within that affordable range. FBO Golf r, hybrid turbo swapped Fiesta ST, turbo swapped 2005 GTI, and a bolt on 370Z. The sti bone stock was my favorite car let alone it now built. I look forward to this!!

@@JP_A3 they put a picture on YT of them in the garage for something else and the front of the car was a little visible (I think at the time they were doing the Lotus or shortly before that). That caused the initial speculation, then in one of the videos back when Marty originally got the kei truck you can see it in the background parked in the garage at Marty’s house for a brief moment (a blue SA or FB). After that Marty in another occasion made some indirect comment about people spotting something. It has been a while since that now and some people like myself are anxiously waiting for that project 😂.

Hey fellas: water towers create dynamic head, and the “resistance” created by facets and other fixtures is called static head.

Static head is the pressure created by a fluid via elevation change with no flow. Dynamic head is that same measurement but accounting for losses in the line while flowing, due to friction, turbulence and pipe size.
