Another Eight Days : A Solo Idaho BDR Adventure (Director's Cut)

  • NOTE: This is the 2 hour long director's cut version. Contains extra content not found in Parts I & II Releases
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Imagine a lonely route over 1200 miles long; nearly all of it dirt.
    A land rich in historic value, where animals flourish and mountains that go on forever in all directions.
    A lonesome trail that is dotted with outposts, ghost towns, abandoned homesteads and mines.
    A large land of untouched wilderness; The largest in the continental US.
    Lands where bears and wolves still roam unfettered.
    A region where one camps when and where they like, unfettered by formalities.
    Ride endlessly, letting the mind wander and feeding the soul.
    Ride as one; mind, body, soul and bike.
    It’s not a hard route, but rather a spiritual experience.
    Be careful not to loose focus; mother nature can be cruel and will punish you.
    She is not to be taken for granted but respected and loved.
    Love her and she will love you back.
    Travel lands where one can truly still get lost.
    I found this and more all in Idaho.
    I truly hope you enjoy this experience.
    It is my pleasure to share with my friends and family.
    Thanks for Riding Along
    What a fantastic ride!
    Thanx SO MUCH for taking us along!
    I’m just blown away by your professionalism, and the quality of what you’re putting out there for us!
    The video quality, the graphics & the soundtrack is second to NONE.
    I’m glad you didn’t do that water crossing solo.
    The price tag was too high, and it was absolutely the right call.
    This has been one of the best BDR videos i've seen! The NEBDR is a totally different beast. I did a two week ride last spring from N.Y. to Florida (5 days in each direction) through the Appalachians and then back up the coast line....traveling as many dirt roads as i could find. Your video reminded me of my trip and how therapeutic it was! Currently planning a 3 week ride out west to do some BDR. Thanks for sharing your experience Grizzlee!
    I've been caught in torrential rain at night in the mountains a couple of times in a 4WD. Had a particularly anxiety-inducing experience driving through the Ochocos back in September when the skies just opened up. I don't even want to think about what that would be like on a bike at night!
    Another great trip and video. Cheers!
      Yes, it a bit different on a bike for sure. Sometimes, all one can do is buckle down and huddle underneath a tree until there is a break... or setup tent in a inconspicuous place and wait it out. Been there done that a couple of times. Thanks for riding along. ~Grizz
    Great video, thanks for taking us along. Two summers ago on my first off tarmac trip with my vistrum, I ended up on that section of the BDR north of lowman. I went down in the water and drenched my bike. Fortunately someone it was able to help me from my group. The second time I went down on that trip. That section of the BDR is no joke. You were smart for going around. Did you take 5:55?
    Subscribed. Well done production, it look's like a lot of time went into it. I rode it Sept 3-13 of 2020. Three hundred yards visibility of choking smoke at Canadian border, 23 degrees in Pierce, 98 degrees in Riggins, big windstorm on Magruder with dozens of trees to move, ride around, or build ramps over and also saying I love IDBDR.     Wow, just awesome. Beautiful videography and editing. Found your channel and I'm hooked. Tech questions. What software do you use to edit?What GoPro are you using and how many spare batteries do you bring? Do you have a way of charging them. Also do you carry any spare gas or parts. Thanks in advance for answering. Amazing work. I know it takes a lot to film especially having to go back and get cameras after. Also editing, I can't imagine how many hours that takes. I do 10 minute videos and that can take hours. I thank you for your time in making this.
    • @RubiKonAdventures
      @RubiKonAdventures  ปีที่แล้ว
      Lots of questions..
      I had to change software recently as I used moviemaker and PowerPoint. Both are minimal tools at best, but I developed some tricks that even my Microsoft buddies were impressed with. Movie maker is no longer supported. GoPros… 7&8. They keep making new ones every year. I’m done with them. The image quality and stabilization are just fine on these. I carry extra batteries and charge them on the bike via usb ports. Gas? I do Cary a rotopax when needed. Maybe I should do a vlog on this subject. You can reach me on ADVRider (User GrizzLee) and we can chat more extensively. Many thanks for riding along with me. Be safe out there. ~Grizz
    Great video! I'm hoping to do this BDR this summer starting in Jarbidge in mid June and wondering if this would be too early? Also my riding buddy can't make it, from what i see in your video, seem to be mostly an easy BDR/not too technical solo doable BDR. May have to do it solo?
    • @RubiKonAdventures
      @RubiKonAdventures  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1
      Riding solo is very rewarding. Make sure you have a spot or inreach device in case you need help. June may be too early for the Magruder Corridor and the Lolo Motorway. With that stated, we seem to be having a low snow pack this year so it may be passable earlier than normal. I went in the fall. If you go early in the season, be prepared for downed trees, ruts and mud in the mountains. Bring a saw. Good luck and be safe out there. Cheers ~GrizzLee
      I left north of Seattle and returned 9 days later. I did no finish the entire route. I missed the portion from Lowman to Jarbridge. Will go back and do that sometime. I would add another 3 days to my trip to do that. The total distance is like 1200 miles I believe for the route. Cost?? Hmmm.. so many variables. Gas $5/gal, count on burning up a set of off road tires, lodging… i tented every night except when I detoured to McCall. Have fun. ~GrizzLee
      Yes, I've ridden it twice. Both times I left Seattle on Labor Day weekend. Kids are back in school and the hunters are usually setting up camps which is cool. Road and weather conditions are not consistent from year to year. My biggest issues were the side by sides using the mountain roads as a race track. Really dangerous for us folks on motos.
