  • Pine forests, enchanting heathlands and countless lakes have made them known, the Uckermark in northeastern Germany. The railway still plays an important role here. It brings tourists into the country, but is also important for the transport of goods of the few remaining industrial plants.
Dedicated clubs have been trying for a long time to revive disused narrow gauge railway lines piece by piece and thus preserve the posterity.
In Pasewalk there is a railway museum in which relics of the legendary GDR government train have survived. We also visit the Mecklenburg-Pomeranian narrow-gauge railway or better, what's left of it. Formerly existed over 200 km of narrow gauge rail tracks around Friedland - today there is nothing of it, so to speak. But a small railway community in Schwichtenberg has created something that seems incredible. In the "nothing" of Friedland's large meadow, they have resurrected in their own initiative and a great deal of improvisation talent, a nearly 3-kilometer route of the MPSB again. Money - you say - they do not earn, but the good feeling railroad history for the region to get and the brilliant eyes of children and visitors to experience, it is well worth the effort.
There is a look behind the scenes of the chemical industry in Schwedt with its huge railway and finally it goes on a search for clues: What is left of the more than 100 years old Karniner Eisenbahnhubbrücke in the Peene near Usedom?
