    I'm a dragon player at heart. My second EDH deck was Lathliss. When Miirym was spoiled I was so hyped that I immediately decided to build a deck for him. When I brought it to my LGS it smashed so hard it wasn't even fun anymore.
    Since then I nerfed the deck by only including cards from Forgotten Realms and Baldur's Gate. It's still absurdly strong at my LGS. I enjoy it much less than I anticipated to. Since then I built other dragon decks helmed by Firkraag (Goading dragons), Rith Liberated (Dragon tokens), Ziatora (Death trigger dragons) and Drakuseth (Voltron). I enjoy these much more.

    The Ur-Dragon was my first precon and introduction into edh. It is crazy how prices developed since. Who would've thought that the most iconic timmy tribe would be popular?

    My wife and I built her a miirym deck for her and despite being a devout elf/vampire fan she instantly fell in love with miirym. It is a fun commander!

    Worldgorger dragon is also cheap and a win condition with Miirym if you have any etb dragons that do damage on the field or dragon tempest

    I have a not so budget Miirym and I'll say two things.
    First, doubling dragons is good, no matter how expensive they are.
    Second, Ganax is MVP. Ganax and his copy entering alone is 3 treasure. Follow that with any dragon and their copy and it's 4 treasure every successful ETB.

    • @CommanderMechanic
      @CommanderMechanic  ปีที่แล้ว

      yuuuup, in testing even the "worst" dragons are value town getting 2x. And the treasures from Ganax are clutch. Be careful if Swashbuckler is out ☠☠☠

    • @Wistbacka
      @Wistbacka ปีที่แล้ว

      Rapacious dragon can also do wonders if you have a deadeye navigator in the deck 💀

    • @cyberwolfy37
      @cyberwolfy37 ปีที่แล้ว

      Miirym is better at making treasure than the Korvold treasure deck I'm building purely because of Ganax.
      in no game can I say "I swing with 5 dragons, which gives me 10 6/6 dragons and 20 treasures"
      this happened to me in a magical christmas scenario.
      I casted my miirym, which fulfilled the requirement of mossworth bridge, allowing me to cast the hidden Ganax, netting me 3 treasure, because I have dragonspeaker shaman, I had enough to cast thrakus the butcher.
      then next turn I cast utvara hellkite, making a copy, then swing with the two thrakus, two ganax, and mirrym, quadrubling all dragon power, and making 10 dragon, and 20 treasures.

    Renari, Merchant of Marvels is a potential include because it allows you to cast Dragon and artifact spells as though they had flash. This can potentially throw your opponents off if done right.

    I recommend "Displace" over "Blur". I find it more useful to flicker two dragons than drawing that extra card.

    I love the video, but where I am, those two medallions alone are worth more than $45, sadly. I shared your video with my local community. A lot of people are wanting to build this commander.

    • @CommanderMechanic
      @CommanderMechanic  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      the medallions are NOT in the deck - they are in fact very expensive and used as examples of cost-reducers!!

    I was thinking of building a miirym deck..
    Am deciding if I should get the singles or just get a precon to start off with it.
    For precon, I was thinking either draconic destruction, draconic dissent but lightly not draconic rage

    • @CommanderMechanic
      @CommanderMechanic  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd go with the singles. A precon is a great way to go but many are over the $50 that you could buy this entire deck for!

  • @Wistbacka
    @Wistbacka ปีที่แล้ว +3

    3:30 small mistake there: Earthquake dragon checks total cmc costs of your dragons, not their power.
    But otherwise this was a nice list.
    Personally I run no cost reducers, as they can be so easily removed. Thus I prefer mana ramp.

    solid deck. Shocked to not see Astral Dragon, Scourge of Valkas or Wrathful Red Dragon. All fantastic options and Astral has an easy infinite combo with Cursed Mirror. all 4 cards are like $3-4 each and very solid cards.

    • @CommanderMechanic
      @CommanderMechanic  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      $3-4 each is still too much for a $45 budget

  • @angelofsolitude7951
    @angelofsolitude7951 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't Crucible adds anything to the deck, Neoform or Savage Ventmaw would probably improve it to a higher degree without impacting budget. The price isn't reflecting what you indicate, but I can appreciate the thought behind it, my completed Miirym deck is quite pricey, especially for the newer mythic dragons. The exclusion of Magda probably makes a truer pre-con too, as Magda increase value/power of deck exponentially.
