That's a pretty dumb blanket statement. Almost like no parent has ever exploited their kids for views, or worst. All you gotta do is search up kids killed by their parents to know not every parent actually cares about their kids safety. That said, I get your sentiment.
I lack a sense of humor but I hope the commenters comparing this to catching on fire or dying or a heart attack knows that the kid is not in any danger. There are videos of people slipping off a pier or a log and falling into water and both the camera man and the viewers laugh when in reality those people are in more danger than this kid here. At least those people run the risk of hitting their head on the pier or at the bottom or stepping on something unpleasant. Unlike in the movies, quicksand does not suck you under no matter how you struggle. You'll sink to your waist and stop. After that, it just hinders your movement and you have to awkwardly swim to the edge. Death by quicksand usually involves falling in head first or trapping you for something else like a rising tide. And as you can see, neither apply here. Even death by exhaustion is something I've never heard of. Probably because if you're tired you can simply wait to get your strength back then resume the awkward swimming.
There is no explaining it to these people. This vid represents around 60 seconds of several hrs swimming and playing in a west Tennessee clay mine. And yet some how these people know more about what happened in the vid than my son and I do. Its just your garden variety quicksand and the factual and scientific definition and explanation can be easily found for those of us who don't just make shit up in our heads and present it as fact in a comment section of some random video. Driving to work is dangerous, playing in west Tennessee quicksand is not. Fuckin duh.

We're actually filled with enough air in our chests to overcome drowning in quicksand. The only way you could sink in it is if you actively dug down into it and wanted to die. This video really shows real quicksand not dramatized by hollywood
The quicksand won’t kill you, but if there’s a rising tide, that can do you in. There are some beaches in England that are much stickier than this, and you can get genuinely stuck.
That kid looked like he was having the time of his life! And really, as long as you're calm and know how to deal with it, you'll be fine. Struggling deeper, or diving head first are the only ways quicksand is dangerous alone.

That's what this video was about showing that even a child can get out of quicksand and that it's not as bad as people think if they are educated. Whenever you hear about somebody dying from quicksand; it's not because they got swallowed. It's because without proper knowledge of how to get out; you can be stuck indefinitely. If this happens in a remote area and you are alone, you can die of exposure, or drowning if it's in a tidal area. So before calling somebody an idiot, check the statement that you are saying they're an idiot on. You don't die from quicksand by sinking. You die from getting stuck and not being able to have someone around to help you out of it if you don't have the education of what to do when you encounter it. The density will never let you sink above your chest contrary to what movies depict

It's that same smartphone that allows you to so easily gain the knowledge of what quicksand actually is, where its found, and how dangerous or not that it is. Like most things that interest me in this world, I had read about quicksand before ever encountering it for the 1st time in the wild. No telling how much of the stuff we've messed around in before this video but this was the best example I've seen and no more dangerous than any previous. Funny thing is, most negative comments in this thread are from people who envision themselves in this kids shoes and knowing deep down they would be panicked and want help. Which is why they are upset with the dad in this video. However, this kid is incredibly composed and had the situation currently under control. For a lot of people who first instinct is flight not fight, this is a hard video to watch without getting upset.
All these people who are commenting about it are blindly believing what movies tell them quicksand is. One need only to Google what quicksand is to know something about it. It's basically a misconception that you'll drown in quicksand like on television. As long as you don't panic and keep your head above the sand, you can slowly get out of it.
Fun fact: you can't actually sink all the way in quicksand. Because of human buoyancy you can get very stuck but not sink below your chest. If you don't have help to get out you would dehydrate which is deadly but it's a common misconception that you can sink underneath.

But some quicksand people come across is actually not quicksand but similar and not dangerous or some cases it's not deep. But quicksand like in this video is 100% dangrous. Many people mistake wet sinking mud for quicksand or wet sand which arnt dangrous

Doesn't mean he isn't in danger. They're not all dad of the year.
Fuckin duh.

@@tamashford1 and what does quick sand do?
@@tamashford1 well the fact is that do the density it's impossible to completely be swallowed by quicksand. People that know this and how to move their body can escape. "THEN YOU TRY IT"
“Dad, Keith is in the quicksand!”
Dad: “Hold on let me grab my camera!”
If the called their kid Keith they clearly didn’t like him anyway.
That one cousin who brings you to his shenanigans and say "Don't tell your mom"
He’s actually doing a perfect demonstration on how you do get out.
He's supposed to do more of a low crawl. He was doing it more like walking on all fours, which is why his legs kept going back in, his knees kept sticking right back in with every step
@@luisgomez8635 I think he meant the wiggling back and forth to allow air in.
@@luisgomez8635 so you show us please how it's done better
We were taught to spread your weight out more evenly. I've never been in it but I've seen demonstrations and it seemed to work.
Can anyone with 1st hand experience with quicksand confirm or deny this method?
Eu não sei como o pai consegui rir numa hora dessa eu estaria desesperada
"Come on get out of there"
Bro he is In ACTUAL quicksand💀💀💀💀
More parents need to be willing to allow their children space to discover their strength and independence.
This Father is clearly a decent parent!
We need more like him.
However the parent reacts is how the child is going to learn to react
Yeah but comments like "quit messing around" is really unnecessary... it wouldve been better if he said "I believe in you son, you can do it."
@@petterhouting7484 well, the "stop messing around" also implies that the father don't believe this is even a challenge for his son, and see him capable of more.
You’re actually slow if you genuinely believe this video represents that
@@petterhouting7484 im sorry your parents didn’t teach you sarcasm. the joke was that he was struggling. he was screwing with him because he knew he could get out just fine
I think it's every kid's dream to encounter actual quicksand. Thank you for allowing me to experience this vicariously.
No it was our nightmare lol
Good lord, the comments on this video is honestly embarrassing. Imagine believing quicksand is exactly like you've seen in the movies as kids.
Edit: so many karens in the comments 😂😂 stay mad xxx
For one thing, the majority of comments are jokes which are funny precisely because of the idea we got from movies as kids.
And secondly, why shame people for the ideas they got from movies? Few people ever come into contact with quicksand. How should they know?
@@cauchyschwarz3295 which is also why they shouldn't just jump right on awful conclusions on a tiny youtube clip. That's just plain ignorance and stupidity
@@cauchyschwarz3295 it shows how ignorant they are, wdym shame them?
r/Iamverysmart material right here
Hey hey hey. Dnt underestimate ppl’s ability to be stupid n naive!!
this kid lowkey said some NOPE I AINT DYING TODAY..MOVE FLIP FLOPS!
