Ryan Johnson Seriously unbelievable that such a minor change could cause such a dramatic effect. The pause and the way she holds on to “mine” until after the orchestra finishes the phrase is incredibly impactful. The colour in her voice truly illustrates such a clear image. Blown away.

Wow. Just wow! I knew Jordin was going to be amazing as Jenna, but this truly might be the most impressive and beautiful version of She Used to Be Mine that I’ve ever heard. This song is SO nuanced and there are so many places where singers have to choose what emotions they’re trying to convey with each word and how to sing accordingly while at the same time figuring out how and where to build the song into the climax. It’s incredibly difficult and yet Jordin Sparks just did it almost effortlessly - the build was spot-on and heart-shattering and every note had intention and thought behind it! Ugh, I can’t praise this enough!

I saw her last week... my goodness. She brought to this role exactly what Fantasia brought to Celie in the original Broadway version of Color Purple. So much purity and authenticity. Jordan was absolutely breathtaking... couldn’t take my eyes off her. And her SUTBM seemed so effortless for her. The clarity and breath control and emotion are out of this world! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
