(Life is Strange and Before The Storm spoilers) This song is even more devastating when Rachel and Chloe are put in context. The song is about 2 mountains having a conversation with each other. The mountains plan on leaving and starting a new life together. The mountains believe that they can leave together but the listener of the song knows that the mountains physically can’t move. It’s meant as a metaphor to lovers who plan on starting a new life together but are unable to. This is Rachel and Chloe’s situation. They both planned on leaving Arcadia Bay together, like that one night in before the storm. But then Rachel found out about her mom and their plans were ruined. They still wanted to leave but then, Rachel was murdered. Chloe and Rachel are the 2 mountains, they believed they would run off together to have a fresh start. But they sadly were unable to.

Mike Watson Yeah, I kind of agree with you. Yet at the same time, do you not think that bands like this would have more popularity if they weren't so underrated. They're directly related in most cases, pop artists make a ton of money off of being so outrageous that people tell their friends. bands like this get left in the dust because no body is inclined to really share it, they forget about it the next day so to speak. It's the kind of music you listen to when you just want to chill by yourself. Things get popular because they're overrated and things are unpopular when they're underrated even if they aren't the same thing. The definition of underrated is "something that's better than people present it as' and thus it never gets to the mass media market. For people like myself, that's why it's so great. ***** I wish hadn't played it when the first episode came out. Now the wait for episode 5 is unbearable. Life Is Strange probably my favourite game now. The Last of Us was previously but I'm far more into the characters and story of this than I was with The Last of Us. The Last of Is is still one of my favourites but not my top favourite.

It's totaly opposite for me, l was playing lis (life is strange) back then and I stoped playing it just before they find Rachel buried (scene). Then one day I found this song on Spotify and I listened it, and boom! I was like for these many days where was this song man! I absolutely loved it. I listened it again and again and again (for months). Then one day I got the urge to play lis and I continued from where I stoped. Then I just completed one chapter Dark room and this scene showed up and I was like daam! and then I recognised the back ground song and then second daaaam! (feels so unreal ) I haven't completed he game totaly, just completed episode 4. I'll definetely gonna complete it in the future. BEAST RPG IVE EVER PLAYED. PEACE🤌

If you listen to the lyrics, it's And we could run away Before the light of day You know we always could The mountains say, the mountains say The mountains are wanting to run away, but they just can't. Rachel promised Chloe that they'd leave and move to LA. They wanted to run away, and they ALMOST did. But they never managed to escape Arcadia bay. Maybe "the light of day" is the realization that Chloe and Rachel just didn't have the passionate romantic relationship that they thought they had in the beginning. Who knows? All I know is that now I'm sad and I'm gonna go cry.
I really love the simple yet effective use of the dual acoustic accompanied with the subtle violin. If you break the harmonics of the song down you'll find that its tones are reflective to that of - Oh fuck it who am I kidding it's because of Life Is Strange.

Well, I think as the man had gone a long time ago, they won't be able to make a big conflict out of it, without his participation XD. It could only lead to sorrow, depression and "my life is a joke" kind of thing, for man's daughter.
Could be. My idea is that he made a box of all the memories of his life and buried them, made a map so that one day he could give it to his daughter. He was on his death bed and gave the map to his daughter so she went to find it. I think when she grabbed the phone it was a text from her mother saying he had passed and that's why his ghost appeared there. so she buried it again.
"Rachel in the Dark Room, Rachel in the Dark Room, Rachel..." God, the scene in the junkyard made my stomach turn. Ash is such a talented actress too, she really sold it for me. In choice-based games, I normally don't kill whenever I have the chance. But what Jefferson's done... I can't find anyway to forgive the bastard. So if there's an option to blow his hipster skull off his fucking shoulders I'm taking it, no hesitation.
I would have been waaaaay too young to play Life is Strange when it first came out, but I'm playing it now when I'm around Max's age and I love it sooo much. This song is my favourite from the whole soundtrack. It conveys the horror and the tradegy sooooo well
I played the game when it first came out, the game has always had a place in my heart, easily one of my favorite games of all time. It's such a well made game, and that's one of the reasons why I love it. (Might also because it helped me through a pretty rough year of my life)

Its been almost 10 years, fuck anyone who makes fun of people like me, this game, as weird as it might sound, helped me to deal with a lot of trauma and I will never forget it. That's hardly true! I seem to be the one of the rare that didn't come here from LIS (a beautiful Warrior Cats map brought me here) and I found the video to be quite touching and emotional. Really, great music and great thoughts.
frimanic Well, as far as my interpretation goes, a man is burying his memories (traces of his old life, perhaps something that could harm his memory or change something drastically) in the forest in hopes that nobody will ever find them (the man may be famous or like any other human), yet the whereabouts of the buried items are found by a girl (either a relative of his or a fan of his, whichever you find appealing) and she, of course, goes to dig them up. She finds the items and starts skimming through them, perhaps finding something that could give things a new light. The girl picks up her phone, ready to alert someone of the items having been found. Here is where I cannot decide myself. She either sees the ghost/spirit/apparition of the man who buried the items (the ghost-ness is emphasized by the fact that he is in grayscale), or comes to her senses and realizes the man would not want these items brought back to the world. Either way, the girl decides against calling, rips out the map that lead her to them, and buries the items where she found them, leaving the memories behind, presumably keeping quiet about them. Hope this helped!

She followed a map in his old journal and found what's been buried there for decades - the past he'd been hoping to forget. She looks through the items and, eventually, decides to do what he originally wanted (but couldn't do - he left a map), and that's to let it be forgotten once and for all.
After you finished Episode 2 (BTS). When Rachel and Chloe talked about everything, about leaving Arcadia Bay, never coming back, and actually they planned to do that, but that dinner distracted them. And when you come back in LiS Episode 4 when they found Rachel's body and this song plays. Those 4 powerful lines: And we could run away Before the light of day You know we always could the mountains say, the mountains say When you focus on lyrics, it makes you cry so so so much. Admit that nothing made you cry so much in LiS, not even ending after coming back to EP4 after BTS.
What pain must've been in the old man's heart to be so desperate to escape the memories... I can't imagine. Heartbreaking. I cling to my memories to ease the pain of loss. My heart breaks for the many people in this world that live with that pain in realtime. The music is perfect. What a gripping video...to the soul.
I can't believe it's been over two years! Somehow,I still perfectly remember the game and it still brings back emotions when I listen to the song. Such a good game with such amazing music!
I love this song. It makes me think about all the impossible things i tell myself i can do. Like a mountain saying it can run away. We humans keep lying to ourselves about things we can do to escape our situations, yet deep down in our hearts, we know some things cannot be changed. In "life is strange", we know Rachel is dead, but we tell ourselves we can change the future with our poer. We were so accustomed to changing the future that, when we find her body, we remember that the power we had could never make her come back, because of its own limitations.
*SPOILER ALERT LIFE IS STRANGE EPISODE 4* Man tears where shed when they found Rachel in the junkyard..The song fits perfectly with what's happening in the episode. I must say I did not enjoy playing episode 4. Everything is messed up with all people around Max. Such a dark episode...

5 δays ago, my dog died.. My 16 and a half year old, amazing, sweet Amy.. An old lady with a puppy's heart and a child's eyes.. My beautiful Amy.. I cannot stop crying since then, and for some strange reason this song always comes to mind when i imagine her..
It still disturbs me that in the end Chloe realized that everything horrible happening to her was a result of the fact that the universe didn't think she should exist anymore. That everything that was ever her was slowly being erased to heal the time wound.

This song just gets even more difficult to listen to now that we've met Rachel and gotten to know her. I love Before the Storm but it's heart wrenching to play it, already knowing both of their fates, especially seeing how cute they were together.
It's the old man's daughter. The old man buried memories of him before dying. His daughter comes at that exact place thanks to a map the old man probably left behind him for her, and she digs up all the memories of him. The final scene symbolizes that even though he's dead, he's still here. That's why she changes her mind about doing that phone call. Instead of bringing all those memories with her, she buries it back where it was and leaves. Moving on with the past.

I really sympathize with the lyrics. It reminds me of a friend I had that was the closest I have ever had. I loved him so much and even though we lived across the country and only communicated by Skype, we always did everything together. We planned to try to meet someday and finally see each other in person. I would've loved that to happen, but he committed suicide and I wasn't able to say goodbye. The only thing I have left of him is the video he sent me before he did it. Hearing songs like these always make me think of him, but the songs are always great because of that.
[LIFE IS STRANGE BTS SPOILER!] Now I realize the lyrics of this song and the parallels to Rachel and Chloe. Before the Storm was hard to play. I always had the picture of Rachel's dead body in my head. I saw Chloe's happy face over the game when she was with Rachel and I was like; noo. Please not.
This is my favorite song in Life is Strange mostly because I'm a sucker for music synching in with storytelling visuals that make both the song and story have a stronger impact... this song in addition to the reveal of Rachel was amazingly done
To me to this song was about hope and happiness in memories with a side of sadness that it brings once loved one has passed away. What the game made me feel totally threw that out and associated it with unnatural death and despair.. Will never forgive them for doing that.
Love Being Who I am The beat goes with desperation and despair. The lyrics go with your view of hope and happiness.. I find the use pretty spot on, though.
Arafat Zahan Interesting, I didn't hear it that way at all. I used to hum this with smile on my face and I will probably in a week or so again. Only thing that gives me a little gloominess is the violin or cello that plays. Overall I really find this peace quite cheerful. First impressions I guess, I had mine before game.

I would have been waaaaay too young to play Life is Strange when it first came out, but I'm playing it now when I'm around Max's age and I love it sooo much. This song is my favourite from the whole soundtrack. It conveys the horror and the tradegy sooooo well
I played the game when it first came out, the game has always had a place in my heart, easily one of my favorite games of all time. It's such a well made game, and that's one of the reasons why I love it. (Might also because it helped me through a pretty rough year of my life)

I used to go on long walks thinking about my dad and how much pain he was in going thru colon cancer amongst other illnesses. Now that he passed away last year...I'm just like her in the video...trying to dig up memories wishing I could talk to him one last time. Love you Dad, miss you every day 💔

It was / is the perfect game. It blends nostalgia, grief, loss, anger, hope....never had a game make me feel the way LiS made me feel.

That's hardly true! I seem to be the one of the rare that didn't come here from LIS (a beautiful Warrior Cats map brought me here) and I found the video to be quite touching and emotional. Really, great music and great thoughts.

Well, as far as my interpretation goes, a man is burying his memories (traces of his old life, perhaps something that could harm his memory or change something drastically) in the forest in hopes that nobody will ever find them (the man may be famous or like any other human), yet the whereabouts of the buried items are found by a girl (either a relative of his or a fan of his, whichever you find appealing) and she, of course, goes to dig them up.
She finds the items and starts skimming through them, perhaps finding something that could give things a new light. The girl picks up her phone, ready to alert someone of the items having been found.
Here is where I cannot decide myself. She either sees the ghost/spirit/apparition of the man who buried the items (the ghost-ness is emphasized by the fact that he is in grayscale), or comes to her senses and realizes the man would not want these items brought back to the world. Either way, the girl decides against calling, rips out the map that lead her to them, and buries the items where she found them, leaving the memories behind, presumably keeping quiet about them.

She followed a map in his old journal and found what's been buried there for decades - the past he'd been hoping to forget. She looks through the items and, eventually, decides to do what he originally wanted (but couldn't do - he left a map), and that's to let it be forgotten once and for all.

After you finished Episode 2 (BTS). When Rachel and Chloe talked about everything, about leaving Arcadia Bay, never coming back, and actually they planned to do that, but that dinner distracted them.
And when you come back in LiS Episode 4 when they found Rachel's body and this song plays.

When you focus on lyrics, it makes you cry so so so much. Admit that nothing made you cry so much in LiS, not even ending after coming back to EP4 after BTS.

What pain must've been in the old man's heart to be so desperate to escape the memories... I can't imagine. Heartbreaking. I cling to my memories to ease the pain of loss. My heart breaks for the many people in this world that live with that pain in realtime. The music is perfect. What a gripping video...to the soul.
I can't believe it's been over two years! Somehow,I still perfectly remember the game and it still brings back emotions when I listen to the song. Such a good game with such amazing music!

I love this song. It makes me think about all the impossible things i tell myself i can do. Like a mountain saying it can run away. We humans keep lying to ourselves about things we can do to escape our situations, yet deep down in our hearts, we know some things cannot be changed. In "life is strange", we know Rachel is dead, but we tell ourselves we can change the future with our poer. We were so accustomed to changing the future that, when we find her body, we remember that the power we had could never make her come back, because of its own limitations.

Man tears where shed when they found Rachel in the junkyard..The song fits perfectly with what's happening in the episode. I must say I did not enjoy playing episode 4. Everything is messed up with all people around Max. Such a dark episode...

The worst is when out of no where it crashes on you. Like you can pretend you're fine and then out of no where on a random Tuesday you'll get smashed with grief.
I shiver down remembering the way Chloe said "how could she be dead" in LiS 1. That voice acting was flawless!

It still disturbs me that in the end Chloe realized that everything horrible happening to her was a result of the fact that the universe didn't think she should exist anymore. That everything that was ever her was slowly being erased to heal the time wound.

This song just gets even more difficult to listen to now that we've met Rachel and gotten to know her. I love Before the Storm but it's heart wrenching to play it, already knowing both of their fates, especially seeing how cute they were together.
It's the old man's daughter. The old man buried memories of him before dying. His daughter comes at that exact place thanks to a map the old man probably left behind him for her, and she digs up all the memories of him. The final scene symbolizes that even though he's dead, he's still here. That's why she changes her mind about doing that phone call. Instead of bringing all those memories with her, she buries it back where it was and leaves. Moving on with the past.

I really sympathize with the lyrics. It reminds me of a friend I had that was the closest I have ever had. I loved him so much and even though we lived across the country and only communicated by Skype, we always did everything together. We planned to try to meet someday and finally see each other in person.
I would've loved that to happen, but he committed suicide and I wasn't able to say goodbye. The only thing I have left of him is the video he sent me before he did it. Hearing songs like these always make me think of him, but the songs are always great because of that.
When I heard this in Life Is Strange I cried so much ‘cause the music match perfectly with the scene , and the cries of Chloe made me so sad

Now I realize the lyrics of this song and the parallels to Rachel and Chloe.
Before the Storm was hard to play. I always had the picture of Rachel's dead body in my head. I saw Chloe's happy face over the game when she was with Rachel and I was like; noo. Please not.
This is my favorite song in Life is Strange mostly because I'm a sucker for music synching in with storytelling visuals that make both the song and story have a stronger impact... this song in addition to the reveal of Rachel was amazingly done
To me to this song was about hope and happiness in memories with a side of sadness that it brings once loved one has passed away.
What the game made me feel totally threw that out and associated it with unnatural death and despair.. Will never forgive them for doing that.

Interesting, I didn't hear it that way at all. I used to hum this with smile on my face and I will probably in a week or so again. Only thing that gives me a little gloominess is the violin or cello that plays. Overall I really find this peace quite cheerful.
