  • Yoyo loaches are quite possibly the easiest of the loaches to keep as they are very active feeders, easy to get hold of and will adapt to life in most setups so long as you can give them enough space. Just be aware that they can either be large or small, and there doesn't seem to be anything in the middle :D
My favourite fishy stuff! (yes these are affiliate links :) )
    Lights
Nicrew Classic LED - amzn.to/3fG3Uv6 - Traditional led light that's got a nice high output in a white/cool colour range. Makes plants look extra green.
Nicrew SKY - amzn.to/3Ktn45U - really nice light for natural looking tanks, also the one I use for filming.
    Filters
Pat Mini - amzn.to/3fE1u0k - popular for a reason, just a superb little filter thats great for shrimp tanks and fish alike.
ASAP - amzn.to/3nBuytp - the old favourite and the one i return to most frequently.
    Air Pump
AP-3 Kit : amzn.to/34UMA3q - Great little air pump, not a silent runner, but has been very reliable for me.
    Filming Tank
Scaper 45 - amzn.to/3KBxG2H - a lovely high quality tank that comes with a super strong light, and a decent enough hang on back filter - perfect for newbies and scapers alike.
    My filming stuff
    Camera - Cannon 90D - amzn.to/4cehAJ7 - nice camera, easy to use.
BigTripod - Manfrotto befree - amzn.to/3GLXDdj - pricey but super sturdy and can take being knocked over a lot by clumsy operators.
Lil' tripod - amzn.to/355WmQs - can't pronounce the name but it's been a good tripod for filming things on tables or when I have tanks on the floor.

I know someone who kept yo-yo loaches together with Boesemani Rainbowfish. The yo-yo loaches ate the rainbowfish’s eyes.

loaches are my all time favorite type of fish. i had some beautiful & crazy looking horse faced loaches who would bury themselves in the sand! i had some skunk loaches who i loved too but havent been able to find any horse-faced or skunks in over 7 years! i also like zipper. zebra & chains

They are great fish, my tanks are a little smaller that what yo-yo suggest, but they are happy bunnies :)

i love my yoyos! 2 of the 3 i have now are voracious pigs who prefer bladder snails above all other food , i even have a special tank just to grow plenty of bladder snails for them. the 3 i have currently all refuse to eat malasian snails, though some i have had before would eat them. they will eat ramshorns when they get desperate for snails if i havent given them any for at least a week. they also are great to eat unwanted gupoy babies. they eat about 90% which is a rate i can keep up with so i dont get overrun with guppies. i have them in a community tank with the guppies and some kuhli loaches(who only occasionally will eat a snail, except when i crush them, then they will eat them happily) great video! : )

I inherited one monster yoyo loach...it must be at least 6 inches if not bigger and lives under my internal filter cover. I have a 4 foot tank and even that doesn't feel big enough for it due to it speeding around the place 😂. Brilliant video as usual. Thank you ❤

Great video! This is a fish I’ve never had, but would definitely consider for the future.

I hold a frozen brine shrimp cube a inch or so under the water and the Yoyo's come up and rip pieces off, they will bite and twist, you can feel it, but they are peacefull to my other fish in the tank, occasionally I will catch one following my bronze corys around and hanging out eating, they seem to like corys a lot

my yoyo is a solid 4 inches at least. when i got him i was told 2-3" too lol. i feel bad since he's not got a ton of room in the 10g and don't want to upset him with a move.... but i just set up a 40g breeder that seems to be about ready.
*i got mine to take care of pest snails..... and he did, for a time. but he's decided nothing is worth his time anymore.

I wonder if the size difference is species/collection point related? If a pair of small yoyos breed, would their offspring vary in size or also stay small?
