My 15+ green neon tetras used to swim together. Today I added in 12 exclamation mark rasbora and suddenly no schooling at all. They all swim anywhere in the tank on all heights- which used to be in the bottom half of the tank. Interesting! I guess the green neons feel more confident as not to be the smallest fish in the tank.
Black ruby barbs are a good alternative to tigers for more peaceful tanks. They don't fin-nip other fish, stay a bit smaller, and don't even bully each other too aggressively. Yet still have all of the confidence that shyer fish need to feel safe (like my cardinal tetras).
Funny enough, I have a group of cherry barbs who needed dither fish themselves. They spent all their time hiding in the plants, so I put them in my other tank with a school of ember tetras and they eagerly joined it and are confident now.
6:46 tell that to my golden panchax pair... they had an all you can eat buffet of endlers and they didnt put so much as a dent in that population, and they never, EVER made a snack from the adult male endlers.... which really surprised me
Yes! We just got a school of 15 black neon tetra. They are really coloring up after only 5 days in quarantine. The red eye, the neon stripe, the clear areas on the face and body that sparkle and more. There nothing like seeing a good sized school in person!
My dither fish are ember tetras. Some say they are shy but if a tank is heavily planted, they are up front and out and about. Mine are confident and all over the place. And they shoal.
I recently bought 5 for my 7G tank with a hanging root garden and epiphytes on it; no other fish but few Japonica shrimps and they’re not shy and usually up front swimming gently and looking happy
I find ember tetras make good dither fish for tanks that have smaller fish, they are always active and stick together, they don't move to fast but they slowly move back and forth across the tank all day long, I have a group of 6 in a 20g long, and I see my pygmy cories, as well as my peacock gudgeon's hanging around with them all the time
I have found when keeping white clouds that they do get a bit intimidated & pushed out at feeding time by my zebra/leopard danios - I make sure they always have a larger group than the danios which seems to compensate adequately. i'm surprised to hear them recommended for warmer waters though. the info i have pegs them as liking it colder, and the folks ive known who kept them warmer were the types who didn't really care what a fish was best suited to
Hello Lauren, did you just smash 10K when I wasn’t looking?! CONGRATULATIONS 🥳 How bout a new video to celebrate?! God bless you 🙏✝️. ✌️🇷🇺☮️🇺🇦✌️. 🙋♀️🤍🇮🇱✌️
I noticed in your wcmm clips there were two occasions when they flashed. I've had my wcmm for a year now and they seem to do this, at first I thought it must have been a disease but it turns out they are just itchy fish!

I love the looks of the White Cloud Minnow.
I have a group of 5-6 or so and they are so pretty as they grow up.
Nice list of dither fish. One commonly overlooked dither is the female guppy.

Have a group of 50 embers. Need more!
Hi! Could you make a video on the rosy loach?

I thought pygmy corys were shy?
