This easy homemade corn dog recipe is amazing, they taste much better then those boxes of frozen corn dogs you find at the supermarket, and their taste rivals the corn dogs you would find at the Fair or Theme Parks. They are super yummy and really easy to make if I can make them you can make them, let's get Frying!

    Transcript:
    Hello and welcome back to In the Kitchen with Matt, I am your host Matt Taylor. Today I am going to show you how to make homemade corn dogs, mmm yummy. This recipe for corndogs is really easy to do, if I can do it, you can do it, let’s get started. First, I put a pot of oil on the stovetop, and I am going to heat that up to 350 degrees F. And while that is heating up I am going to go ahead and mix together my dry ingredients, 1 and 1 fourth cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tsp. of baking powder, 1 tsp. of salt, 1 fourth cup of sugar, ¾ cup of cornmeal, go ahead and whisk that together. Now I am going to add ¾ cup of milk, and then two eggs, I am going to come in here with spoon first and go ahead and mix that together to form the batter, and we want to mix this until we get all the lumps out, a nice smooth batter. All right we have a nice thick batter here, it is fairly thick, that is great. To make it easier to dip our hotdogs into it, I am going to transfer this to a glass cup, I am not going to put all of it in at once, because the cup is going to overflow once you poke the hotdog in it. Now we just take a wooden skewer like you would use for like shish kebabs, go ahead and take your hot dog, and go ahead and poke all the way down, like that, and then we are going to go ahead and just come in here, give it a little turn, until it is all coated, and then pull it out, just like that. All right let’s go ahead and check the oil, we want it to be 350 degrees F. All right that looks good. And then what we do, we take our dog, just go right in there. And it will take somewhere between 3 to 5 minutes, to cook, and you cook it until it is golden brown. Let’s go ahead and do another one. You come in with tongs and kind of separate them a bit if you need to. Depending on the diameter of the pot that you are using, you could do two or three at a time, maybe four, these corn dogs, look good, I am going to go ahead and take them out, and put them on a paper towel lined plate. And now I am just going to do the rest of them. All right our homemade corndogs are done, they turned out fantastic, they are really easy to do, go out there and make your own, I am Matt Taylor, this has been another episode of In the Kitchen with Matt, thank you for joining me, as always if you have any questions or comments or requests, put them down below and I will get back to you as soon as I can, thumbs up, down in the corner, push it, don’t forget to subscribe to my channel and check out my other videos, take care, time for me to dive into one of these, oh yeah. Grab this guy right here, dip it into a little bit of ketchup, the other side some mustard, oh yeah. Mmm, mmm, mmm.

    Best corn dogs ever. The batter is so fresh and crispy on the outside and soft and spongy on the inside. Better than any Hot Dog on a Stick place at the mall, that's for sure.

    I'm from the UK where corndogs are just a dream. After seeing them on American show/films for 30 odd years, out of pure desperation I looked up recipes and found this gem! Well, I was really craving corn dogs and I can't get them where I live. Thank you so much for this delicious recipe!!! Word to the wise: Follow Matt's directions exactly! I had a little mishap the first go around because I don't have one of those nifty thermometers and I think that my oil was way too hot. Plus, I filled it up to almost the edge of my saucepan. Well, needless to say, it ended up in a huge grease fire that I tried to put out with water, which I guess makes it worse/spread :). Anyhoo... while my kitchen was being assessed for the insurance, a kind neighbor let me use her place if I promised not to burn it down and to share the corndogs, which I happily did. Greatest recipe ever!!! It was totally worth it!

    I improvised a recipe for hot Cheeto corndogs after skimming this video and it turned out super good
    What i did was I got two eggs and beat them until they were creamy and i added a little bit of milk (i didn’t use a measuring cup but i think it was around 3/4) and whisked it again then i got two cheese sticks and cut them length wise into 4 pieces (8 total) then i wrapped them around a skewered hot dog, using tooth picks to keep the cheese on the hotdog then i dipped it into a bowl with the egg and milk mixture. I then dipped it into ground up Cheetos fries (regular hot Cheetos don’t give that much taste) i then dipped it into the egg mixture again and then again back into the Hot Cheetos fries i then used my hands (washed obviously) and made sure none of the corndog had any naked spots and put it into my air frier for around 6 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit and took out the tooth picks once i made sure it was fully cooked (beware it is very unstable, but also really tasty) and then i enjoyed with my brothers. I am 13 years of age if i can improvise this you can too
    YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!

    This was really good. I managed to make 6 corndogs, and share one to my mom to try it out, and was proud of it and asked me how I did it. The only downside was that my sticks were long and thin than in the video, so I had to rip a little bit of it so I can cook to all the parts without leaving a part raw.

    • @inthekitchenwithmatt
      @inthekitchenwithmatt  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, here in the States, the hotdog wieners/franks as they are called, come precooked in the package. Technically you can eat them right out of the package, although most people heat them up on the grill, microwave, or boil them to warm them up, instead of eating them cold. So it really depends on what you use. Look at the package, if they are precooked no need to cook it before making the corndog, if it isn't, then yes you should cook it first. :)

      It doesn't matter you can use either one. The batter is pretty thick, so you might want to use just a spoon instead of the whisk.

    Thank you so very much for sharing how to make your corn dogs, I have never travelled so never able to try it but I saw a few movies where it showed people eating it so I always wanted to try it. I made the corn dogs, both me and my son absolutely love them and I am very thankful to try it.

      So awesome, Loretta!!! :) I am happy you were able to make them. Was it hard to find cornmeal where you live?
