    Hi, nice video. keep up the good work.
    As a token of appreciation, I will share the recipe for a favorite dish in my home country, Jasuke.
    Ingredients:
    Sweet corn (as needed),
    Condensed milk,
    Grated cheese.
    Instructions:
    Boil the sweet corn until cooked. You can also use pre-cooked sweet corn or canned corn.
    After the corn is cooked, drain and let it cool slightly.
    Cut the corn into small pieces according to your preference.
    After that, place the corn pieces in a bowl or serving dish.
    Pour sweetened condensed milk generously over the corn.
    Sprinkle grated cheese on top of the sweetened condensed milk.
    Jasuke is ready to serve!

    Hi, Mr. Paterson, I'm Salsabila Fidayanti, I just saw your video, and it is amazing. Quite detailed explanation. So, some of the points highlighted here are:
    - Most public speaking programs focus on speaking to many people at once, but most conferences feature panel conversations
    - Being a panelist is different from being an individual speaker since panelists share the stage with others and are often seated, limiting body language
    - Panelists should focus on preparedness, including reaching out to the moderator, researching co-panelists, and getting to know the panel setup
    - Panelists should avoid writing out responses word for word or reading from a piece of paper on stage
    - Practicing responses and being authentic while providing real-time answers is important

    Hi, Mr. Paterson, I'm Nuraisah. The material is really cool, and useful for anyone who wants to be more confident speaking in public. Because a panel discussion is different from your own presentation. You should be more prepared and listen carefully to what the other panel members are saying. Makes us realize the importance of being ourselves and being flexible in front of listeners. Thank you for sharing with us! Good Luck!

I also learnt a great tip for how to speak in front of an audience since I'm not that confidence in my public speaking skills. Thank you for the video and keep up the good work. Have a nice day

    Hi, I'm Michael Brema Rifaldo Barus. I came here because my lecturer suggested me to watch this video to practice my listening and speaking skills in English. And I practiced by turning off the video subtitles, and it was very enjoyable because of the very clear pronunciation. And the topic of discussion in this video is very helpful and very clear, Thank you

    Hi Mr. Paterson,
    I'm Adinda Kaysa. I just watched your video on how to be a good panelist and I'm grateful for the tips you shared. However, I face trouble in conveying the core and important points of my message effectively, and I was hoping you could provide me with some guidance on how to make the listeners receive what I want to convey.
    By the way, I subscribed to your TH-cam channel and I'm looking forward to more useful content from you. Thank you.

      Thanks for taking the time to comment and for subscribing!
      Prior to the panel, try writing down a list of 4 or 5 key points you want to articulate during the session. If the questions you're being asked aren't hitting those key points, you can always transition.
      For example: If I want to talk about how video is important with social media, but I am asked the question: "Which social media network should the audience focus on?" My response could be: "I actually think it's less critical to worry about which social media network, and most important to focus on the type of content you're putting out on any social media network... and the best content to put out is video content."
      Hopefully that helps!

    hi, i’m keizha veriz! love your video so much! i’d like to ask for some advice about how to get the audiences’ attention and interest? because sometimes it’s pretty hard to gather the attention. thank you in advance!

      You can get the audience's attention in a number of ways: tell a great story, use humour, use body language, incorporate vocal variety, etc.
      If you notice the audience is losing attention, try increasing the volume of your voice slightly! Good luck!

    Hi! My name is Siti Hasna, and I found your video through my lecturer. I've also watched your other video "how to moderato a panel". I love the way you deliver your tips and I found your tips very helpful.
    Also do you have any tips to keep your calm when unexpected question pop up?

    • @wadepaterson
      @wadepaterson  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the most important thing is to answer honestly. If you don't know the answer, you can say that. Or, if the question is one you need to think about for a moment, don't be afraid to take a pause and collect your thoughts before responding.

    Hello, I'm Lutfa Aulidiya and I'm on a journey to improve my speaking skills, and watching your videos has been one of the ways. I aspire to speak as confidently and fluently as you do someday. Special thanks to my lecturer for recommending your channel to me, and a big thank you to you for producing such valuable content. I look forward to more insightful videos from you. I would like to ask how to make the panel discussion more engaging and interactive for the audience so that their attention is not taken away from the forum? Once again, thank you for the knowledge you have shared through your videos. 🙏

      Thank you! To answer your question: I'd say try to ask a mix of fun and thought-provoking questions. You could also incorporate audience Q and A in order to get them participating.

    Great Videos, exactly what I need right now. I have been asked to be a panelist at a pretty high impact summit. It is an honor for me , but I have the feeling that I dont know If I have much to add to that topic as someone else maybe. What if I make myself a fool? So i dont know if I should take this opportunity. I am by nature not a person that is "good" in public speaking but I want to become. I ve never been on a panel either. What are you suggesting?

    • @wadepaterson
      @wadepaterson  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question!
      First off, congrats on being asked to be a panelist! That in itself is a huge deal.
      My guess is that they are asking you for a reason, likely because they think you can add value to the panel. I personally say "do it!"
      Here are some ideas to help:
      1) Try to connect with the moderator prior to the session to get an idea of what questions will be asked. You can be honest and say you haven't done many panels, so you want to be as prepared as possible.
      2) See if you can meet/talk to the other panelists in advance. If you're able to, you may get a general sense on what they might speak to (depending on the questions), which may give you some direction in how you can answer to provide variety.
      3) Practice your answers, but don't write anything down. Panelists who are reading off of a piece of paper don't add the same value as those who answer in the moment. Have some general ideas of themes/stories/relevant points you want to bring into the discussion. But don't try to wing it... you need to prepare as much as possible, which will make you feel more comfortable.
      4) You have something to add regardless of your expertise. For example, if I was talking to a room full of CEOs and I was on a panel, I would be the least experienced person in that room (to date, I've never been a CEO). However, I could talk about my experience in working with CEOs (here was my experience/perspective as an employee). I could also talk about what I would do if I ever became a CEO (perhaps bringing fresh ideas). I could also do research and bring data/stats on CEOs that has been compiled by a professional company. I honestly believe that even though I have minimal experience in this environment, I could still add value being on a panel... so I'm CERTAIN you can add value on your panel.
      Good luck. Please do it. Please practice. And please come back to this video and reply to this comment and let me know how it went afterward.

      @@wadepaterson Thanks so much for your reply! Thats encouriging! I hope that i didnt put off the person that asked me, by saying that I dont think I can give a talk because I dont have any data I could present. I asked them if they can be more specific of what is expeted from me. I hope they are still on!

    Hi! I'm Fauziyah.
    After I watched this video, I was very interested. This video is very helpful for viewers who need a way to be a good panelist, and the way it is presented in the video is very clear.
    And I would like to ask, how do we answer questions from the audience when we don't know the answer to the question?

    • @wadepaterson
      @wadepaterson  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Just be honest. If you don't know the answer, you can tell the audience that... or you could even engage in a conversation...
      "I'm not 100 per cent sure, but my best guess would be ______. How about you, what do you think?" (asking the audience member his or her thoughts.)

    Hi! I'm Kania, I'm here because my lecturer recommended this video anyway, your video perfectly inspired me to have good speaking skills. I have one question actually when we are presenting, we often feel that our bodies are stiff well how we can handle it, and also how to control the movement?

    • @wadepaterson
      @wadepaterson  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Practice is the biggest tip! The key is to incorporate purposeful movements that add to your speech. At first this can be awkward and uncomfortable, but the more times you practice public speaking the easier it becomes.

    Hello! I’m Artika and I’d like to say that this is such a great video 🤩 But actually, there’s one thing I would like to ask... What if the answer we are going to give to the audience is a very long answer? Is there any tips to make it into a simple but also clear and complete answer?
    However, thanks a lot for sharing those good tips with us! 😃

    • @wadepaterson
      @wadepaterson  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good question! It depends on the context of the panel. If it's a good, worthwhile story to share, it's probably OK, but perhaps start the panel by balancing speaking time with the other panelists. If midway through you have a chance to tell a long story, you can always make a comment before starting: "I have a bit of a long answer to this, I hope that's OK?" ... if you're tight for time, a good moderator will let you know whether it's OK or not.
