  • / bikemanforu How to measure your bike for and install a front mount kickstand. Free Shipping www.bikemanforu... on bike parts, tires, and cycle accessories. Greenfield Industries makes standard front kickstands in two lengths 285mm and 305mm. Most of the time, you'll need the 285mm. Both sizes can be cut to length but how do you know how long or how short?. TH-cam's how-to guru of DIY bike repair provides hands-on instruction, emphasizing the importance of keeping the part and frame flat and even, watching for bolt serrations to act as a lock nut, making sure the pedal is in the right position. Do you need the standard or longer length? Learn how to answer that question by measuring the distance between your bottom bracket and the floor. "If your distance is more than 10 3/4 inches, you might need a little bit longer kickstand. I put this on here, this is the standard 285. Let's see how well it works on the ground." You'll see what's the right length for a bike and what happens when the kickstand is too long. No worries if you're nervous about cutting the length. BikemanforU starts by making sure the bike is up high on a flat surface. Watch step-by-step instruction on how to measure the right length, then take a simple hacksaw and start trimming on an angle. "Remember, let the saw do the work," he cautions, then files the end smooth. 29er mountain bikes are likely to need the longer length. Comes in silver or black. Thanks! Exactly what I came looking for. My 1981 Schwinn Traveler that I’ve had since...1981, has a kickstand once again for the first time in at least 20 years!

Nice vid. Greenfield now makes the bolts to go from the bottom up rather than top down.

Thanks this was helpful! Never done this before and it Helped me realize that this type of kickstand is not going to fit on my bike since there is not enough space to place the mount :( guess I’ll have to buy a different type of kickstand

If you have oval shaped chain stays on the frame of your bike, then try looking for a kickstand that bolts on.

I have a 2019 Trek Domane. Just bought this kickstand KS2 285mm in black. The bolt is 9/16 USA, 2 inches. My bike needs a 3 - 4 inch bolt because my Trek horizontal tubes are about 2 inches tall. Have to go to Ace hardware now to get the longer bolt

Ummm... 305 minus 285 is 20mm, not 15mm. But hey, your math is good Mr. Pump, like Bikeman says. Good vid tho. Just don't do my taxes, I'd like to stay out of jail. tnx.

The foot seems too pointed for parking in the soft stuff for a mountain Ebike? Do you offer a larger foot for the stands?
