I love the SP404 FX, got a MPC LIVE, so this is very appreciated. I have never done it like that, I usually add FX to my RETURNS. I never did it your way. Great video, keep them short!
Sweet! This opens up a lot of fun for actually playing (not just producing) on an MPC. I knew this could be done, but wasn't quite sure how until your video. I was seriously thinking about getting a 404 before this video. Cheers!
This is an excellent tutorial! Can you please make more? I’d like to know how to save this configuration to apply to other projects or maybe how to make a template with this involved. Cheers man!
Have you figured out how to apply to past projects ? When I save this setup it saves as an xpj, so when I load up an old beat up then this xpj it wipes out the best I’m tryin to add it to … any suggestions????
@@LeoColtrane I’ve just tried it on the live ii not my x , I’d assume it’d be the same setup , so now if I want these effects I preload them before making a beat
Off topic, but people sleep on the insert effects in the MPC in general. If they say the reverbs and delays suck- then they haven't stepped foot in any major studios...because the one's inside the MPC (AIR) are the EXACT same one's inside of Pro Tools...which 99% of all major records are mixed with since forever! No cap.
This is a great video. It changes my whole workflow. I've already tested it and I'm thrilled. Thank you bro and please bring us some more fire mpclive2 tutorials like this Greetings from switzerland
Ok this tutorial literally makes lice shows more smooth since I record all my vocals inside the mpc was already using the subs but now with the q links takes the sound to the next level super super fresh
Great video....I dislike that xy screen with the xy effect I like the xy grid window. But u just explained the xy window u were using well enough that I'ma give it another shot. I'm very clear now to stage the effect.. Thanks! Dope knobs too!
Awesome video!! I can’t wait to try it out! Please kindly follow this useful feature with a video on how to record a beat while using these effects! I’ll be looking forward to it 😊👍. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
I usually create everything on one track and add this all in different sections of the track with automation that way it affects both the drums and the melody. Your way is much faster however I don’t see how you would record the effects in precisely where you’d want them to be.
So if I record this in a sequence but I only want it on just one sequence do I first make a copy of the sequence and with that copy do I also duplicate the program too?
@@ABSTRACT_MUSIC one thing id really be interested in finding a way to do would be inputting live voice then pitch shifting it while you play or record. I know the recording process can be a little multilayered with the mpc. Im still getting the ropes down.
Cool video, the next video should be how to record automation of your programmed sub mix 1 q links. then how to edit the automation the recorded automation.
This is really cool! I saved this FX rack, so I don't have to do all that setup every time I want to use it. Just one question: why is everything on a submix, instead of just putting the FX on the main output?
@@Hoodie_Tello202 If you look at the top of the screen for the rack (where you can select insert FX 1-4), just to the left of the All On/Off button, there's a Save icon. Going from right to left, there's All On/Off, Save, Load, and I don't know what the last one (furthest left) is.
Do you have any Idea how to record automation with this method? I tried to record automation using this method and it doesn't work. Any help/suggestions?
There's a little icon in the upper right corner, with the letter R on it. If you tap it, the R will turn into a W. R stands for "read" and W stands for "write". If you want to record automation, set it to W, then back to R when you're done.
@@SynthApprentice When I tried it didn't record automation on these effects and q-links while doing this method from the video. Meanwhile I updated my MPC and I will try again, thanks.
Unfortunately you can't record the submix. But I know of a way to record these effects on your entire beat, if you convert your beat into a sequence and then automate these effects on the program. I can make a video on this if you're interested
MPC reverb and delay effects just aren’t as good the SP’s. You can do it all on the MPC but it won’t sound as good. I am a MPC owner and don’t have a SP but know it is better in effects.
I love the SP404 FX, got a MPC LIVE, so this is very appreciated. I have never done it like that, I usually add FX to my RETURNS. I never did it your way. Great video, keep them short!
Well done. I spend 75 % of my beatmaking time messing with effects on mpc live. Filter gate is one of my most used fs
I heard that one reason for having an actual SP-404 in the master is that it might save you when your MPC or Force crashes. ;)

brilliant. great lesson!
Honestly you just answered something I’ve been having trouble finding an answer to in the MPC community! Thank you 🙌🏿🙌🏿
Very Good explanations, learned something new. Thanks so much ....keep them coming !

Yes I can. Stay tuned! I know you can definitely do this with a template

You can also map an external midi controller with a lot more knobs like the Faderfox PC 12 (72 assignable knobs) and go buck wild 👍
Thanks for all your efforts most appreciated. Probably just saved me buying a Sp!
Cool! Where did you get the red volume knob and the white knobs?
Same question, the white looks amazing. Tried MPC Stuff’s replacement knobs, and wasn’t feeling those at all.
Bump
Wooooww never knew we could do this
Awesome presentation bredren 🔥👍🏾🔥
Thanks for sharing
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for sharing the knowledge. Is there a way of chaining multiple FX pm a single Q-Link?

I appreciate you sharing the info but how to you record and save settings for template? 🙏🏾
This is cool, thank you! But how do you record these effects being used in a sequence to add to the song?
Where'd you buy those knobs?

Wow thank you so much. You just earned a new Sub for this one

Curious about that too, as far as i know it's not possible to record automation to submix
Dope video bro
I like it 👍🏿👍🏿
Where you get the knobs from?
Great tip here !! Definitely going to use this
& save a couple of SPFX submix Presets
This is so 🔥🔥🔥
Can you record this on the actual beat with out it transferring to other sequences?
Great Tip! :D
Quick question why didn’t you just use programs instead of sub mix so you would be able to record automation?
You a good teacher
Thanks bro! I appreciate that. I just wanna help people out you know? Give back to the community
This video was super helpful thank you so much 🙏🏿
I would love a tutorial on how to record the effects into the track.
It should work if you turn on 'write automation' and record the changes. I'm quite new to this so it may be more involved than that though
@@corranjames5063 thx man I’ll try that. I think what AB did was resample the beat back into the mpc and play out effects live over it

If you had to do it every time yeah. But just like in a DAW, it would be best to save this as a template for future use

You can save FX racks, which cuts down the menu diving by a lot.
