I won't go too hard on the new features. This is freaking amazing. Finally paint gets updated! I am not even mad. Every new feature is welcome.
there's no image editing software where you can un-merge layers, you only do that through undo

now add the ability to easily move and align layers like canvas. then there would be no reason for any third party app anymore
I really hope they add more customization to the shapes you can make, because they still seem pretty unusable. Would love for the shapes to work like in photoshop were you can make custom polygons and stars, and round the edges

It's neat to see MS Paint being updated again. I noticed the layers button has its own large box that is otherwise empty in the UI. Makes me wonder what other new features they're planning to use that space for in the future.
It was empty in the original paint app too.
I've been waiting literal years for this, now I don't need to use other programs like GIMP to make transparent images anymore.

to be fair. it was about time for paint to be redesigned. i just upgraded to 10 from 11. i really like how the modern one looks.
Boss, question, how can I erase without the checkered boxes appearing? Do I need to put (bucket) white layer first then add a picture on top?
i just hope they don't change the way the brushes work (or at least keep them as an option). the classic look of ms paint deserve to be preserved

I love Ms paint because I drew on since I was a little pepperoni and I still do! So I'm in love with even the smallest of updates/changes.

Even though these new features are a great improvement to the simple app, the Remove Background isn't as good as it is in other apps or websites. It works fine for simple backgrounds but not complex ones
if only i could download this updated version of Paint on my Windows 7 laptop. i DON'T want to upgrade to windows 11 just because Paint got a few more layers. Also I'm tired of photoshop eating my RAM whenever I'm drawing something

@@RealCirnoFumo yeah I do that but the problem is that I have to have several Paint instances open and even then, I'm forced to use the pencil tool because the brush tool sucks. That's why I would like a downloadable version of Windows 11 paint. I don't want to upgrade to Windows 11 AT ALL
I saw someone made an injector for Classic MSPaint that adds layers, it might work on Windows 7.

Just you wait till they scrap those features. I still miss W10 timeline as well. It didn't hurt anybody and had absolutely no solid reason to be removed other than change for the sake of change. Worse yet, they keep doing this with literally way too many features with each major Windows version. That's what happens when corporations get this kind of power...

He is correct. It worked fine for the purpose intended. The ITs are too lazy to create a new app; screw with the old. We need to protect our jobs! The original Paint and upgrades until now worked great for concept drawings. Now it is crap.

For eraser option when I use this it's not clear it shows boxed eraser show
why does the eraser smudge colors together rather than replace the colors you want replaced.
if the are 2 colors right next to each other ills blend them together so you have pixels of random mix colors in-between

I'm glad that they upgrade the Paint but I really amaized it still not have those essentials like "free rotate".

Worst update ever, it was a simple drawing app, you could do what you want complete free handed and had extremes freedom, now I just feel limited in what I can do now, I honestly hate it, I’m downloading the classic version

This new update has totally ruined a perfectly working app as far as I'm concerned.. Now, when I draw a line and select to move half of the line, these underneath boxes appear. !!.. WHAT ???????.... Oh.. Now I know.. Because now it has layers.. Layers... I dont want Layers !!.. To me its a load of crap. I just want a simple paintbrush program like I had before on my windows 11. It was nice and simple.. Just the way I like it..

Your nuts if you think MS will improve this. How long has the current Paint program gone without any real changes? YEARS. So they added layer and a background removal tool......and introduced a few bugs. Does anyone really think that MS will put a lot of effort into this?
I kinda agree because they haven't updated anything for ages but they seem to actually put in the effort recently, Windows 11 had some pretty useful features finally added so hopefully they continue the momentum.
There was no reason to put any effort into Paint. It worked! THey were too lazy to make new software.

HORRIBLE UPDATE! NOW I CAN'T COLOR MY ILLUSTRATIONS USING THE BUCKET ANYMORE 😖 I used to be able to but now I have to manually color every freaking thing which makes my illustrations look less professional! When something is working, you don't have to completely change its feature, Microsoft! You can always add new things but don't take away what was working for some of us 🤬

STILL CAN'T ROTATE TEXTS
I Don't Have Layers On My MS Paint.
Hi, I have a question. I use this app (program) to assemble bigger, zoom pictures with their original size. So used to copy with the print screen a portion of the bigger image, and paste it into the opened paint app, then copy another portion of the zoom image, and paste it next that I pasted earlier, then little by little, I reassembled that image in its original size, then save the whole picture on my computer. Earlier when I did this, the layer that I pasted into paint, when I grabbed it and moved it, to put it in the right position, exactly next to the layer where it was in the original picture, had no dashed line at its margins, so I could put it right next to the layer I earlier pasted into the image, because it could be seen where the portion of the picture already pasted, ends. Now this dashed line prevents me from seeing the exact margins of the layer that I try to paste in the picture and only disappears when I paste it/fix it into the picture (so after this, it cannot be moved). Is that a way that this dashed line would not appear at the margins of the layer? And why earlier was no such dashed line at the margins of the layers in Paint, and now it is?

I'm so glad MS paint finally has these features... Although I never expected it to have a feature that detects humans and only removes the background... MS paint is the first app I've had to legitimately have that.

and in Windows 7 as well. I'm a holdout, my Windows 10 laptop broke and I don't feel like updating this one, OR that one to Windows 11 just because Paint got an extra feature I would like to try my hands on.

Why, why did you destroy the ability not to use layers. If I want layers, I'll use Autocad. Please, please return to the latest version as it has worked perfectly for my use for some 30 years. If you want to press more buttons and not design with some precision, this Creator Layer needs to be a new app! Put Paint back! Make a new app!

There is. You just need to save it in tiff format.
Instead of bloating up paint, MS should create a new app for advanced image editing with AI which will have generative fill, low res image upscaler, BW to color photo creation etc.
They will add it in Windows 12
and now we would have 2 apps...
they already tried that with paint 3d
