I'm going on my first hunting expedition and couldn't be more excited. I have a 12ga pump shotgun and a 12ga single shot I was planning on going with the single shot to scout out the area first. Then I will go with the pump later once I get to know the area better. Thanks for the video!!!!

I'm seen less and less of them as the years goes by.. areas where I used to go (pretty far out in the desert where not many ppl go) that was loaded with them are now completely empty..(few hours away from Vegas)
Find the water find the birds, go out try to find small natural springs bottom of rock outcrops & base of hills, could be only like a 12" puddle If you find a guzler spring it will be coming out of the granite tiny natural spring, good luck, I find them in my area of the desert.👍🌵🌵
Don’t give up. It’s been a tough long draught for AZ and I’m sure other places too. There are birds out there just going to be in pockets. I do lots of pre season scouting.
Bud...a 12 gauge pump...really?!?!? You NEVER need 3 shots upland hunting unless you can't hit a cow in the asterisk with a snow shovel! The very reason you crippled a bird is because you saw visions of getting more than 1 bird out of the covey. You need to revisit your personal ethics and determine why you need to take more than one or two birds - if a buddy is hunting with you - out of a covey? Save the "killing the cripple stuff" for those that are all about shooting and not remotely about sport/conservation. I think semis/pumps should be outlawed in upland hunting of ANY sort, especially 12 gauge semis/pumps. 12 gauge semis/pumps are for those that have horrific shooting form and think that if you throw enough lead , something has to drop - and there-in lies your "cripple(s)". You want hunting practices to bag more birds? 1- Learn how to shoot, properly. 2- Make sure your DOUBLE gun fits. 3- when you drop a bird, focus on recovering that dropped bird and don't even remotely consider shooting at/crippling another! In closing, the rest of us are tired of finding your empty hulls and picking them up so that WE don't lose access to a property.
@@ryanwagner7573 A "bird" hunting gun is what you use to hunt birds. Try using an O/U or a SxS. As such, you will HAVE to develop better shooting skills. You will feel more rewarded in your selective efforts both in terms of shooting skills AND conservation. You will save PILES of money on shot-shells and most importantly, your dog will be provided with better opportunities to retrieve. You will reduce cripples SIGNIFICANTLY and that alone should be motivating. Save those blunder busts for waterfowling where they are more suited.
