  • It's not a complicated equation, but choosing the right fields for Kansas Walk-In Hunting Access will lead to more success for both dogs and hunters.

Good info! I live in Eastern Iowa and used onX and it’s Layers for Grouse/Doodles in Northern Wisconsin a couple weeks ago, we got into many birds! Looking to meet some buddies from out west halfway for quail in Kansas later this season. Any specific layers you use in Kansas? Any Regions of the state not hit hard by drought and good breeding numbers?

The state management areas from Tutle Creek on west was the best public all around hunting in the country until about 20 years ago. KDWP changed their practices and everything went to hell. Took away pretty much all the thick good grasslands and they don't see it

What general area of the state do you hunt? We are in Colorado and have only ever hunted around goodland, is there a better part of the state?

Why would you even want to shoot into an 8 bird covey?

According to Tall Timbers, average covey size for Bobwhites is 14, so for a December covey in Kansas I don't find that terrible. Also, a covey isn't solely a family group like some folks think -- individuals come and go. I'm curious, what's the smallest covey you'd shoot on?
