      If i were selling pickups, could I sell them for a profit or at least break even?
      On a scale 1-10, how difficult is it to make one?

    • @ChasesWKshop
      @ChasesWKshop  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@underskillednunderpaid you could defiantly sell them for a profit. Starting out it might be harder to sell higher end pickups until you have a name established. I would work in your area and get your name out there and then work from there. Maybe get a few musicians in your area to try out your pickups and let them spread the word. Eventually you’ll be so busy you can’t keep up, like myself with Bender kits haha.

    You can make the top and bottom plates from high guality birch ply! You can get reasonable parts and kits from philidelphia luthiers. Really good variety.

    How many pickups can you make out of that one spool of copper wire?

    • @ChasesWKshop
      @ChasesWKshop  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Baldeep panessar good question. I am still using the same spool and I’ve wound about 9 pickups so far. It’s hard to tell how much I have left but I figure probable 3-5 more. I could be totally wrong on that estimate though. Thanks for the question and welcome to the channel.

    You say a "Mountain of information" on how to get different sounds from a pickup. I'm guessing you meant, information on what about building a pickup gives it a certain sound. I mean if you wrap the wire more or less it gives you a different sound, or if you use neodymium vs alnico vs ceramic what affect does that have etc etc. I've been looking around for information on this, and can't find anything. Normally my google-fu is strong, but i'm coming up with bupkiss on what about the construction of a pickup gives it it's sound specifically.

    • @ChasesWKshop
      @ChasesWKshop  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes a lot of the sound is left to figure out yourself I guess. The info that is given is usually pretty vague but experimenting is key. I just go with what I think might sound good then document it. We could both use exactly the same materials and wings them the same counts and everything and could get two different sounds. You may wind different than me or use more tension than me. But that makes it your sound too. Good luck man and I like the saying google-fu lol. I’ll be using that one haha. Thanks for the comment bud.
