Thank you for making an english version brother
I have never seen a pickup being made. Thank you for sharing this. 👍
You welcome
this is actually the best tutorial for pickup making i've found so far. thank you
Amazing video man, I love it! Having English versions is great for us in the world
Thank you. Now this channel iss only in english
A real expert.
Thanks for this lesson.
Thanks
You are a beast of Luthier, my dear friend. Greetings and a big hug from Argentina. Russian brother.
Thank you!
You my friend, are a true craftsman 👌 brilliant work
Thank you
Well done.....you make it look very easy.....you're a real artisan craftsman......or...a rare type.....:-)
Thank you!
I love your skill, well done. Very impressive.
Thank you
Awesome love seeing PAF made.
Thank you!
You Rock !!! Cheers from Quebec !
Thank you.
Very interesting! Thank you for making this video.

Many hobbyist guitarists like me have a general idea of what a PAF humbucker pickup is .Your video is special because it gves the viewer a detailed view of exactly what is underneath the pickup cover, how the p/u is assembled along with an easy to follow explanation of the manufacturing process and why you have chosen the type of components that you use. I appreciate the time and effort that you put into making this video.
Thank you again.
Great work man you're a true artisan! And as one would have joked: 'In soviet Russia, the Hum bucks you!' or 'In soviet Russia, the Buck hums the Pickup!'.
))) Thank you!
Love to see how a Dynasonic pickup is made in a english version video. Great channel
Thanks for the great video! You are a valuable contributor to the art of the luthier.
Thank you!
Amazing. I don't work well with things that are delicate, and small. I'd probably make a rats next of wire, and become frustrated beyond control. I can appreciate anyone with the patients, and ability to build pickups.
Thank you
Really informative. Thanks.
Thank you sir 👍🙏 very good work
Thank you!
Thank you for this video, I will mention you in mine when I release. Great minds think alike! We have a similar process. I like how you did the start wire first. That makes sense for lower winds. На здоровье My Russian brother!
Thank you!
Dude im sharing this so hard !
Very good man,all the best to you. I hope you get lots of subscribers!
Thank you!
You have some really nice builds that would rival the real thing. Very cool and great work man!
Thank you!
Nice tuturial
Thank you so much for this video! If I may give a suggestion, since you have 2 languages available for this video, overlapping both languages in this case isn't necessary and is a bit distracting. Regardless, it was a great video! Cheers!
Thank you
Really useful.thanks a lot
Thank! You are the first who managed to see the video before the premiere, because I accidentally opened access for a couple of seconds)) the premiere will be this Sunday.
@@8BombCustom sorry but I received the info and this is very useful for me and I watched the video.the only problem is that this machine is very expensive for me
AWESOME VIDEO, MAH DAWG!!!!!!!!
Thank you!
Don`t forget the PAF sticker.
great job!
Thank you
Great work 🙌
Thank you
Perfect Thank you
Fascinating...!!
tone comparison with seymour or gibson pickups please?
Do you have a tutorial on how to make a Filtertron pickup?
Thanks man! Awesome video. I am planning to do this soon.
The only thing I don't get is; why doublesided tape when you solder the cover on right after?
Saw some earlier videos of you, this one made me like & subscribe. keep up the good work.
You made that look ez
Sometimes I see the following schematics:
#1
Start of the screw coil goes to HOT
Two finishes are solded together
Start of the slug coil goes GROUND
#2
Start of the screw coil goes to GROUND
Two finishes are solded together
Start of the slug coil goes HOT
These differences are related to clockwise or counter-clockwise winding? Or because of humbucker position (neck/bridge?)
Perfect if you have a Hondo..
Great video and thanks for sharing your knowledge! When you sand off the coating of the coil wire at 6:40, how do you know or feel that it is completely off?
the wire changes color. Even if the enamel is not completely removed, the temperature of the soldering iron is 350 degrees Celsius. The enamel burns out.
hi, very great vid but I have a question, do the bobbins are wind with the same direction or opposite ?
Same direction
@@8BombCustom Is the winding direction of the bobbins the same for both humbackers (bridge/neck)?
Great video. Super informative and great attention to detail. Where can I buy a set?
Thank you for sharing your work knowledge and skills with us guitar fans in the world.
Are your pickups available for purchase? I’m a big fan of that creamy mid tone and I noticed your pickups have that characteristic with a bit more attack. Thanks again for sharing.
Thanks for the comment. Yes, I usually sell my pickups here: 8bombcustom.com But now because of the lockdown, I have run out of some details and I only have a few kits intended for our guitars, which are being prepared for assembly. I look forward to resuming shipments from the United States.
Wow
Yes! Me too I will like to know if you can sell it , could you please let me know? Thank you
8bombcustom.com/pickups
Do you make sustain pickups too? If so, kindly make a DIY project clip. Thank you
What you mean about sustain?
@@8BombCustom A pickup like Sustaiac (Brand name). Generally it replaces/mounted at neck pickup's place, in proximity of high end of fret board. Instead of simple clipping, it enhances the amplitude and then clips. the impedance of the pickup is very low (thicker wire and less number of winding of coils and magnetism is focused at string. For impedance matching and clipping there is an interface circuit board to be fitted in cavity of the guitar, bearing electronic control switches etc.
Thank you. I already figured out what you meant. Interesting functionality, but for me personally and for the guitars that I make, it is not very useful. A proper LesPaul can have infinite and controllable sustain, so I was not even interested. I have a narrower specialization. Perhaps if I find the time, I will figure out such a device.
@@8BombCustom Thanks a lot
Can you tell how to know pickups good by the electric metter ?. Thanks man
With a multimeter you can only find out whether the pickups are working or not. Based on the resistance, you can make rough assumptions about the type and number of turns of the wire. You need to judge the sound with your ears.
@@8BombCustom thanks alot man
does it matter what polar direction the magnetic cores are in? or are they just an extension of the bar magnet on the bottom?
They are not magnets and hence don't have polar direction.
Hi. I noticed you wound 5006 turns on the first coil - do you wind a different number on the second coil to emphasise the highs?
I do it differently. Different tricks for different tasks
You could also use a different tension on each coil, or even a different tpl or other coil geometry change, though my experience in this is limited, and this knowledge and how to apply it is the most closely guarded secret among winders.
What do the pole screws actually screw into? The base plate or the metal keeper bar? I'm confused because it looks like neither of them are threaded/tapped.
They are screwed in, self-threading, through the bobbin into the backplate. Since the metal of the screws is harder than nickel silver, the screws themselves cut the threads. The holes on the metal keeper are larger than the diameter of the screws so they can pass freely through them.
@@8BombCustom Ah, I see. Do they *need* to touch the backplate / keeper bar (for magnetic field reasons) or is it simply structural?
I think the keeper is just so that the magnet touches the screws as much as possible through it for better transmission of the magnetic field.
I want Belarusian pickups !
I am from Belarus))
@@8BombCustom Oh forgive me Alexey !
o want to ask you know how to do a active pickup??
I don't no 😁 I make only PAFs
Was this a bridge or neck pickup?
Bridge
hello, the nikel silver bas plate thickness is 1 mm?
Is the Screw for the bobbin is also a Magnet ? i have few search on ebay for that things and now showing up.
No, it made of steel mark 2010, 2018 or 2020.
Where did you get the pickup winder? Excellent video.

Is it possible to buy the paf you made?
Yes www.8bombcustom.com/pickups
Where do you Purchase the bobbins and parts to build two pickups? I really would appreciate you telling me and You make the most awesome guitars. I want one sir
I buy from two sources. MojoTone and Philadelphia Luthier tools. They are both very reliable sources
Does the direction of the winding matter? Both wound the same direction?
Yes, it does. In a humbucker, both coils are wound in the same direction. Otherwise, there will be an antiphase.
Hello, would you plese tell me how - where have you got - bought that pickup winding machine ? If you have ordered it online, did you have to pay extra taxes for the customs and shipping ? Ty !
Zdravo. I bought my machine from mojotone.com. This is a fairly simple machine, but with nice additions. Gauss meter, stepless speed control and good build quality. But out of the box, it is only suitable for winding single coils with manual wire layout. Therefore, I had to do it very hard and, in fact, finish the second half of the machine. It is a wire tensioner and an automatic coil spreader. Plus some humbucker winding gear. Of course, I paid customs duties, but this is not a problem to achieve the goal.
@@8BombCustom Thank you for your reply !!! Yes, I have visited several sites, and I have seen that the machine itself costs around 500 Us dollars or so. I'm from Serbia and I am clueless about how much It would cost to order machine online , to pay for the shipping + customs. Maybe you do remember aproximately how much have you payed for machine + shipping + customs ? I am more than sorry for bothering you about this, but I was thinking about getting one of those machines.
I have been to Belgrade several times and painted several churches in Montenegro.

You can enter the country and postal code when ordering and find out the cost of delivery to Serbia. You can find out about customs duties at your post office or on your local website. In my country, now it is 15% for the amount of a parcel above 20 euros. In Europe, it is 30% for an amount over 30 euros, if I'm not mistaken. Plus customs clearance fees.
@@8BombCustom Wow you have actually painted several churches in Montenegro ? You have painted frescoes ?? That is pretty amazing !!! Belgrade is my hometown . Thank you for your replies, and again - forgive me for bothering you about all of those details.

@@major-Mihailo-Madzarevic Thank you. Merry Christmas to you too. My main work, which I have been doing for over 20 years, is monumental painting and icon painting. In Montenegro, we painted churches in Radovichi and made a large fresco in Podgorica in the cathedral church. "The Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles". Last year we completed the reconstruction of 17th century frescoes in Poland, which were painted by a Serbian icon painter. I have a second channel about my work. th-cam.com/channels/tFqR6_DWLsJdAjq-t4ROdA.html
Same direction for 2 humbuckers in series? (C) or (cc)?
Yes. C.
@@bloomtikbloom9593 no, both bobbins is in one direction
What was the point of the "Patent Applied For" sticker on the base? It looks just like the one Gibson used. Are you passing these off as Gibson PAFs ?
No, I'm not positioning it as a Gibson PAF. It's a copy. The decal is just a tradition. But no matter what anyone wants to pass it off as the original, they have markers on them that say that this is a copy. All my reels have my logo on the reverse side, a small number 8 is minted on the backplates. And now I still refused this decal.

You can make a PAF-style pickup but one CANNOT make a PAF. Not without a time machine anyway.
You right. But I can make exactly PAF sounding pickups and even better. For much less price that original PAF. 😉
