I haven't been this sad and upset since Ed Broadbent died. When I heard Mulroney passed away, I called my psychiatrist, increased my medication and took a bereavement day off work to mourn. I don't think the country can take anymore grief.
Vassy has a great show, but Mansbridge is definitely a liberal/reporter- you see it in his portfolio of interviews over the years. Couldn’t allow anything nice about all that Mulroney accomplished, except he knew how to make friends. Brian Mulroney was not without flaws- what human being isn’t, but he accomplished a lot and cared about the country. It’s a lot different leading a country and being responsible for everything your government does or doesn’t do, than say reporting on it, sitting in a chair.
Who care whether he is a liberal reporter. Who cares. He was an anchor and a reporter and he did his best to get at the truth of every event that flowed out of his time in both seats. That is what journalism is about.
