Well, unless you build some defensive positions inside your megaroom. :D I've had max threat score drop pod raids that get split up and trapped in multiple rooms/halls b/c of my chokepoint construction. Makes it a breeze to rally my pawns, clear out one hallway or room, use it as a strongpoint and clear everything one room at a time from there. 200 raider pawns all shooting at the same time can kill 20 pawns with amazing gear. But 20 pawns with amazing gear can kill 10-30 raiders easily, multiple times in a row. The compartmentalization helps break the raiders up into bite-sized servings, similar to the killbox drip feed. Compartmentalizing can also make a base more robust against killbox failure. Sometimes a big raid blows out a few wall cells too many, and that lets in more raiders than your killbox DPS can absorb, overwhelming your defenses. It's good to be able to fall back into a room or hall and use it as the next mini-killbox.

Great question, the problem is aesthetically pleasing means something different to everyone. My most “aesthetically pleasing” bases typically happen as result of terrain, swamp or water being in way of where I would just draw giant rectangles 😂
Well clearly that is the most important room so it goes right in the middle. The kitchen/eating area should be next door so he never has to go to far, and the hospital should be next to both of those. Hospital also as close to the kill box/base entrance as possible. If he's a researcher or crafter or wtvr than the laboratory/workshop/wtvr should also be next door to his room. This compact, efficient setup ensures that your colonists live in a base that looks like shit
This video was made to help new players learn about room sizes and adjacencies, not how to build a visually appealing base 👍🏻
people who landed in the mountains: 🗿🗿🗿
I’m doing a mountain base soon!
Sounds good, better make nutrients paste tho
Why?
@TheWorldOfKilladrix try nutrients paste expanded
Considering you are gambling between -12 sick mood debuff from food poisoning and guaranteed -6 ate a nutrient food debuff. Nutrient paste might be a better option until you can afford a new sterile kitchen where only cooks entering it.
I’ve used this exact setup for the last thousand+ hours of gameplay and rarely struggle with food poisoning. Occasionally? Sure. Crippling? Absolutely not.
I design everything around 11x11
I support this 👍🏻
This only works in the easier difficult
This will work on most difficulties. 500%’ers will probably trim it down a bit but this guide was made for new players, which is why it has the word “beginner” in the top text, title and description so people won’t miss it 👍🏻
for a freezer do o make another 9x13 LOL
I just do your reccomendation for barracks and just grow out a damn tumor from there
Freezer was first storage, the one with 2 coolers, a butcher table, adjacent to the grow zone with the stove on the other side of the door 🤔
Making your crafters constantly walk through the kitchen and barracks is a 1/10 design. Just put the shelves of raw goods by the creating tables, and give good it's own separate room
My friend, may I ask what you think the shelves in the crafting room are for? When I said “shelve it”? I wonder what goes on those 🤔🤔🤔 I also wonder what goes in the first room adjacent to the growing zone, with the two coolers and the butcher table 😂😂😂 we’ll likely never solve this mystery.
You should send these to Mortal.
Can’t teach an old dog new tricks 😂
I prefer to make a fridge and storage room
The first storage is the freezer, which is why it has 2 coolers, a butcher table, is next to the 140% fert growing zone and next to the stove. The crafting room is full of shelves for crafting mats and crafted items.
@TheWorldOfKilladrix low temperature = work speed
@@GrifShorts Yes, but the butcher has the corpses dropped at their feet and places the meat on the shelf next to the table without moving. The butcher never having to move to butcher and store raw meat more than makes up for the lower work speed.
13x13 ftw
I support this 👍🏻
bad design no sterile tiles which is industrial tech level or even hay grass for both the hospital and the cooking area also small prison for a colony that size you would want a decent sized prison
This is a base for beginners to help through the first year. Expecting them have sterile materials research and spend the gold/steel on it and understand the cleanliness properties of straw mat versus wood is a bit much. Great suggestions, but not what I would propose for new players who are struggling.
@@TheWorldOfKilladrix Correction silver also it's dirt cheap sterile tiles hell even steel tiles would do
@@TheWorldOfKilladrix and also cleanliness is need because if you get food poisoning from food caused by a filthy cooking area thats kill mood
@@Mantisacord99 Yeah, I've got 6k hours in the game, I understand the basics. I'm just not overly concerned about occasional food poisoning. If that's the worst thing going on, I'm in great shape 👍
@@TheWorldOfKilladrix I have 7k bro food poisoning is a pain to deal with
9x13 gang vs 11x11 gang
I used to be a HARDCORE 11x11'er in Rimworld (and DF), but I love the slimmer profile of the 9x13 : (
No I dont think I will
Procedes dig into a mountain
You crazy-ass mountain-basers lmao
Самое страшное чем мы можем занятся в подобных играх это - упрощением
Optimization and simplification are powerful tools in RimWorld.
bro this whole thing will collapse within less a year, 8beds in one room? kitchen in the same room? yeah you played probably only one run
The barracks setup is a free +15 mood buff because it combines 3 rooms into one and abuses beauty. It's one of the most broken mood strategies in the game: th-cam.com/users/shortsF7m6_6O5TbM I've used this setup now for 1k+ or more of my 6,000 hours and it's insanely good.
Don't forget to use overhaul mods that you don't know what they do😂😂😂😂
Way ahead of you! 😂
Bop it!
where is power?
Power will be its own separate video was too much to squeeze into this one
But you see... I like build bace
Then build bace, my friend.
Nonsense the most efficient base is the one that have phallic shape
This has been confirmed true.
Nice
Thank you : )
11by11 is most efficient, it can be used much better than this and can look much better if you cut it up. Secondly don't use wood. I honestly hate it
There is a 4 cell difference between 11x11 and 9x13 so the efficiency is similar. I just prefer the slimmer profile. Wood is fine, especially early game before you have the time/resources to make blocks and build stone walls.
Nope. With 4k hours of rimworld. The best beginner is the 13x13 wall compound of Adam.
I was a 13x13 believer for a long time, but I started to like the slimmer profile of the 9x13. Both are great!
Thats pretty solid, the rectangular rooms prevent roof instability while extending the space without needing to build aditional supports, nice. 11x11 may be good, but its hightly overrated haha
I used to do 11x11 now I do 9x13 😂
If I see someone do that cross of beds/tables I immediatly tune out. so ugly
Okay 👍🏻
then it burns
Everyone so afraid of a little 🔥🔥🔥
I make different rooms for different ppl
I support folks playing however they like. I used to do individual rooms until I learned how to get a +15-ish mood buff with this barracks and I could never go back
@@TheWorldOfKilladrix I love Rimworld in its original purpose. The fun. Not the skill. Like, dogs ganging up in my Warehouse and drinking all of my beer and then all of them die from cirrhosis. Or a dude who shows his dead dad to everybody bcuz he is racist and nobody in the colony is his preferred race.
@@meltingRN I get it, and like I said, I'm happy for everyone to play the way they like. Fun for me is not worrying about mental breaks, so I use the barracks with the bonus mood. I'm not worried so much about being "skilled" as I am having fun, so I embrace strategies that allow me to enjoy the parts of the game I enjoy and minimize the parts of the game I don't.
@TheWorldOfKilladrix thats awesnme
обгораживать базу деревянными стенами? любопытно...
This is a beginner base for year one, and yes, I believe wood walls are better than no walls.
pyromaniac
Just don’t accept them into your colony? 😂
There's no power generation either
Power generation will probably be a video of its own. Only so much you can squeeze into a 30 to 45 second video 😂
