I always loved Cadence as I liked her singing voice and her colors. I also was interguied by the heart spell book telling us that she actually started as a pegasus. That really made me wonder how she adapted to learn magic as a teenager. I too have read the comics and I really love the princess characterization there way better than in the show. As for Celestias line about alicorns, I always interpreted that as the her and Luna were born outside of Equestria and before its founding. As in before the windigo storm that caused ponies to migrate.

I personally always enjoyed the idea of an AU where Cadance, Shining, and Flurry are a family of villains. With the three of them being corrupted/nightmare versions of themselves. And the three of them being an actually effective team due to the fact that they share one single goal or something along those lines.

I think it’s reasonable to write a story about Cadence becoming disillusioned by love if she like other alicorns out lived her love, Shinning Armor. I think i’ve seen fan serious explore a bit of this conception. Where Cadence becomes cold towards the idea of love. Not really realizing how her behavior is affecting the love ones that are still alive like her daughter Flurry Heart. I’ve seen the concept before but not sure if any of them went as far as to make her a nightmare horse.

She was supposed to be a unicorn (cousin of Blue Blood, still part of the "Canterlot Royalty" but not a princess); then HASBRO required "a royal wedding" (to match the one in real life expected to happen the same month the S2 finale should be aired) that MUST had a pink alicorn princess [because their toys of "Pink Celestia" was failing to reach expected sales, given that kids did not recognized her]. -> To simplify things, they made her an alicorn princess (since her design already had a pink-ish coat) & to create a new relative of the main characters (Twilight was the only that make any sense for a Canterlotian) to become the bridegroom.
I think it was vaguely explained in one Heartwarming episode how Celestia and Luna became alicorns. Originally, unicorns as a whole were responsible for moving the Sun and Moon, but this practice was VERY exhausting and drained the magic out of them. Only very exceptional unicorns like Star Swirl could perform it without damaging his magic, but still he needed assistance of at least other 6 unicorns to do it. This ritual stoped after Celestia and Luna took care of this task, implying that they were born as very powerful unicorns and ascended as alicorns when they obtained their cutie marks (probably from performing this ritual).

My reasoning for Flurry hearts's alicorn-ness is literally because she was born a princess (yes i know kind of a cop out) but the mere fact the she is an heir to an empire that was lost a thousand years ago, and her mother being an alicorn that spreads love (which is exactly what the crystal empire spreads shocker) and saved the empire from sombra, Flurry has enormous shoes to fill in once she gets older, Flurry heart being born an heir to- again- an empire that was lost a thousand years ago, an empire whose heritage and culture has been gone for- there's so mamy times i can say a thousand years🤣 ANYWAY, she is essentially a symbol of hope and the empire's future, Being a empire's ticket to not be lost in time again is a pretty good princess worthy deed imho, but that's just me, i was also enormously pissed off when they did this without a proper explanation just so they can sell toys
First off, wonderful art, I always love seeing your style! I'm going to be that person and clairify that Celestia says "the birth of an alicorn is something Equestria has never seen" and Luna states "it's beyond even our understanding". It's kinda a vauge statement and I see why people took it as proof that Luna and Celestia ascended. However, while Flurry might be the frist alicorn to be born 'in Equestria'. It is very possible Celestia and Luna existed BEFORE Equestria was founded. But I do agree that the way they went about Flurry Heart was kinda strange. She's grown on me tho.
Shining Armor is mortal. He will die one day. So, i wouldn't be serprised if she turned bad eventually because of that. Maybe try to end love because of the pain it put her in, even preventing Flurry from being able to love. After all, Flurry is also an alicorn. Why let her feel that pain? So, Cadance removes her heart.

I’d love to see you do cadence, flurry and shining in your dragon style, it’s really cool seeing how you translate the different design elements and I loved how celestia and luna looked
ngl cadence feels really random alongside the other princesses bc she's not themed after suns/stars/a time of day/etc and I feel like she'd feel more coherent and fit better if she had a sibling/co-ruler to complete her little duo (not counting flurry heart or Shining Armor) Also the yellow is really shocking in her colorscheme, and you do a really good job incorporating it.
I'm honestly glad the show didn't end after twilight became a princess because this show changed my life and the way I think so so much (in the good way)
Really well done with the designs! I’m retroactively stunned that not even the comics have conceived an evil version of Cadence. Kudos to you for doing her justice! Also, seeing as Sombra’s my favorite mlp villain, you did a smashingly good job of making him a dragon. It fits him surprisingly well.
Of course the main 6 in nightmare form would be super cool to see! But for other characters I’d love to see some Big Mac love lol, starlight and trixie would also be cool as like an evil/nightmare duo!!
Yassss Edit: btw before Luna and Celestia, in old Equestria it took a lot very powerful and well trained unicorns to raise and lower the Sun and the Moon and it was a very hard and exhausting task, and then Celestia and Luna came along, probably as children as well, but we aren't sure what their age was back then, and beacose it's their destiny (they have the cutie marks and everything) they managed to easily raise and lower the Sun and the Moon (they probably gained their cutie marks when they did that) and people from all the 3 tribes (earth, pegasus, unicorn) where collectively so happy they did that that their collective energy of happiness magically transformed Luna and Celestia into alicorns, and then after transforming they where made leaders I foregot if the tribes where united or not at that time, but I'm pretty sure that what made it possible for them to turn into alicorns was the fact that there where earth ponies, pegasus and unicorn ponies cheering them on. All of this wasn't out right said in the show but it was implied.
For me the villains of My Little Pony from both g5 and g4. The only ones I think are villains are Chrysalis, Cozy Glow, King Sombre of the series, and Cosmo, Discord's ex-girlfriend.
I feel like cadences nightmare moon design could be a manipulative person who mostly uses love bombing bc her whole theme is love and stuff and I feel she would look like her normal self with a dustier coat, ombre hoofs from dark red to her normal color and have like a white blanket pattern except it's red and finally bloodshot insane looking red eyes. Lots of red XD.
I Love her! (I am sorry for my English, not my native language)I think her design perfectly captures and mirrors the Ancient Greek aesthetic of the crystal ponies. With her mane styled as gladiator helmet and the rich deep cold red colour of her coat is perfect. As for the broken heart wings, I think the design would best show in the closed up pose. For open ones, maybe if it was ruffled up on the bone part of the wing (?)
This now gives me the idea of like Shining Armor after Divorce Horse divorces him ends up snapping and becoming depression decadence. No, nothing else. Just depression decadence. He can have the coolest design or smth but instead of any interesting gimmick he just sits on the couch watching tv and eating ice cream in his room refusing to come out I just think it's a super funny idea in general bc I don't actually hate Shining Armor that much it's just funny to imagine.

I personally headcanon that the reason they are alicorns and why they go by Princess instead of Queen is because of their father, aka the first alicorn. Basically in my hc the gods were extremely harsh towards the ponies, regularly sending disasters their way for fun and eventually a pegasus named Dusk got sick of the treatment and flew to the castle of the hydra god of day, night, light, and shadow to try and reason with them. This ended up turning into a battle that Dusk won by some miracle, but because the magic had no place to go Dusk ended up absorbing it, causing him to gain so much magic he became the first alicorn and king, but this power caused him to be unstable. His daughters who were unicorns like their mother wanted to help their father as they loved him greatly, only knowing him as their parent since their mother died shortly after the second was born thanks to the gods. These two fillies were Celestia and Luna. At first Dusk was reluctant wanted them to stay away so he wouldn't hurt his daughters, especially because they were blank flanks at the time, but after a couple of years of them being blank flanks the two proved themselves by fending off a dangerous beast with their magic Dusk finally gave in and crowned the two the Princess of The Sun and Princess of The Moon, turning them both into alicorns as well. After many years the other gods finally learned what happened to their hydra friend and stormed down to Dusk, still believing him to be holding all of their friends' magic, unaware of his two daughters. He ended up making a deal with them where he would go with them without a fight if they left his people alone, which they agreed to and imprisoned him for 10,000 years, which is why we don't see him. While no one but his two daughters remember him they still consider him as the true ruler, which is why they refuse to be referred to as Queen. The two princesses have the consciousnesses of the two heads of day and night from the hydra their father slayed that regularly influence them and was why Celestia ignored her sister's pain, it was also my explanation as to how Nightmare Moon and Daybreaker existed as I didn't know about the Nightmare Forces, I actually didn't even know that there were comics, I legit thought MLP was just a show and toy brand.
So many missed opportunities. Luna becomes Nightmare Moon(all because of a stupid reason). Celestia becomes Daybreaker(or I like to call her Doomsday). Twilight Sparkle becomes Midnight Sparkle(or I like to call her Midnight Void, Midnight Vortex, or Star Storm). If Cadence is going to become a villain then it has to be a good reason for it, like somthing tragic happen that caused her to go flying off the rails. Example: Shining Armor and Flurry Heart got caught in a house explosion and Cadance thought that they died, but actually they Survived thanks to Discord teleporting them out just in time. After Cadence witness the death of her husband and child(or thats what she thought), she transformed into Heart Breaker(thats what I like to call her), a villain born from tragedy. she is so cold blooded, so ruthless, and so relentless that she could easily put Queen Chrysalis to shame, and she will seek vengeance opon the one who took everything from her. Cadence/Heart Breaker would make a very good Tragic Villain just like Mr. Freeze from batman. Villains that do evil with no motivation or for a dumb reason is just so boring and repetitive.

She was supposed to be a unicorn (cousin of Blue Blood, still part of the "Canterlot Royalty" but not a princess); then HASBRO required "a royal wedding" (to match the one in real life expected to happen the same month the S2 finale should be aired) that MUST had a pink alicorn princess [because their toys of "Pink Celestia" was failing to reach expected sales, given that kids did not recognized her].
-> To simplify things, they made her an alicorn princess (since her design already had a pink-ish coat) & to create a new relative of the main characters (Twilight was the only that make any sense for a Canterlotian) to become the bridegroom.
OH MY GOD, the dishes thing made me laugh so much.
I think it was vaguely explained in one Heartwarming episode how Celestia and Luna became alicorns. Originally, unicorns as a whole were responsible for moving the Sun and Moon, but this practice was VERY exhausting and drained the magic out of them. Only very exceptional unicorns like Star Swirl could perform it without damaging his magic, but still he needed assistance of at least other 6 unicorns to do it. This ritual stoped after Celestia and Luna took care of this task, implying that they were born as very powerful unicorns and ascended as alicorns when they obtained their cutie marks (probably from performing this ritual).
You know who else you dont tend to see 'nightmare moon-ified'? Spike. I know he's a dragon but i think it would be a very interesting concept xD love the art as usual!
I mean, Celestia and Luna were both students of Starswirl the Bearded, so it's possible that they were normal ponies until Equestria came to be, and then they just ascended?

My reasoning for Flurry hearts's alicorn-ness is literally because she was born a princess (yes i know kind of a cop out) but the mere fact the she is an heir to an empire that was lost a thousand years ago, and her mother being an alicorn that spreads love (which is exactly what the crystal empire spreads shocker) and saved the empire from sombra, Flurry has enormous shoes to fill in once she gets older,
Flurry heart being born an heir to- again- an empire that was lost a thousand years ago, an empire whose heritage and culture has been gone for- there's so mamy times i can say a thousand years🤣 ANYWAY, she is essentially a symbol of hope and the empire's future,
Being a empire's ticket to not be lost in time again is a pretty good princess worthy deed imho, but that's just me, i was also enormously pissed off when they did this without a proper explanation just so they can sell toys

I'm going to be that person and clairify that Celestia says "the birth of an alicorn is something Equestria has never seen" and Luna states "it's beyond even our understanding".
It's kinda a vauge statement and I see why people took it as proof that Luna and Celestia ascended. However, while Flurry might be the frist alicorn to be born 'in Equestria'. It is very possible Celestia and Luna existed BEFORE Equestria was founded.
But I do agree that the way they went about Flurry Heart was kinda strange. She's grown on me tho.

Shining Armor is mortal. He will die one day. So, i wouldn't be serprised if she turned bad eventually because of that. Maybe try to end love because of the pain it put her in, even preventing Flurry from being able to love. After all, Flurry is also an alicorn. Why let her feel that pain? So, Cadance removes her heart.

I think the general depiction of an evil Cadence has her becoming the Princess of Lust since it is a perversion (no pun intended) of her aspect.

ngl cadence feels really random alongside the other princesses bc she's not themed after suns/stars/a time of day/etc and I feel like she'd feel more coherent and fit better if she had a sibling/co-ruler to complete her little duo (not counting flurry heart or Shining Armor)
Also the yellow is really shocking in her colorscheme, and you do a really good job incorporating it.
I'm honestly glad the show didn't end after twilight became a princess because this show changed my life and the way I think so so much (in the good way)

Edit: btw before Luna and Celestia, in old Equestria it took a lot very powerful and well trained unicorns to raise and lower the Sun and the Moon and it was a very hard and exhausting task, and then Celestia and Luna came along, probably as children as well, but we aren't sure what their age was back then, and beacose it's their destiny (they have the cutie marks and everything) they managed to easily raise and lower the Sun and the Moon (they probably gained their cutie marks when they did that) and people from all the 3 tribes (earth, pegasus, unicorn) where collectively so happy they did that that their collective energy of happiness magically transformed Luna and Celestia into alicorns, and then after transforming they where made leaders
I foregot if the tribes where united or not at that time, but I'm pretty sure that what made it possible for them to turn into alicorns was the fact that there where earth ponies, pegasus and unicorn ponies cheering them on. All of this wasn't out right said in the show but it was implied.

I feel like cadences nightmare moon design could be a manipulative person who mostly uses love bombing bc her whole theme is love and stuff and I feel she would look like her normal self with a dustier coat, ombre hoofs from dark red to her normal color and have like a white blanket pattern except it's red and finally bloodshot insane looking red eyes. Lots of red XD.

I Love her! (I am sorry for my English, not my native language)I think her design perfectly captures and mirrors the Ancient Greek aesthetic of the crystal ponies. With her mane styled as gladiator helmet and the rich deep cold red colour of her coat is perfect. As for the broken heart wings, I think the design would best show in the closed up pose. For open ones, maybe if it was ruffled up on the bone part of the wing (?)

Shining Armor after Divorce Horse divorces him ends up snapping and becoming depression decadence. No, nothing else. Just depression decadence. He can have the coolest design or smth but instead of any interesting gimmick he just sits on the couch watching tv and eating ice cream in his room refusing to come out

I personally headcanon that the reason they are alicorns and why they go by Princess instead of Queen is because of their father, aka the first alicorn. Basically in my hc the gods were extremely harsh towards the ponies, regularly sending disasters their way for fun and eventually a pegasus named Dusk got sick of the treatment and flew to the castle of the hydra god of day, night, light, and shadow to try and reason with them. This ended up turning into a battle that Dusk won by some miracle, but because the magic had no place to go Dusk ended up absorbing it, causing him to gain so much magic he became the first alicorn and king, but this power caused him to be unstable. His daughters who were unicorns like their mother wanted to help their father as they loved him greatly, only knowing him as their parent since their mother died shortly after the second was born thanks to the gods. These two fillies were Celestia and Luna.
At first Dusk was reluctant wanted them to stay away so he wouldn't hurt his daughters, especially because they were blank flanks at the time, but after a couple of years of them being blank flanks the two proved themselves by fending off a dangerous beast with their magic Dusk finally gave in and crowned the two the Princess of The Sun and Princess of The Moon, turning them both into alicorns as well. After many years the other gods finally learned what happened to their hydra friend and stormed down to Dusk, still believing him to be holding all of their friends' magic, unaware of his two daughters. He ended up making a deal with them where he would go with them without a fight if they left his people alone, which they agreed to and imprisoned him for 10,000 years, which is why we don't see him. While no one but his two daughters remember him they still consider him as the true ruler, which is why they refuse to be referred to as Queen.
The two princesses have the consciousnesses of the two heads of day and night from the hydra their father slayed that regularly influence them and was why Celestia ignored her sister's pain, it was also my explanation as to how Nightmare Moon and Daybreaker existed as I didn't know about the Nightmare Forces, I actually didn't even know that there were comics, I legit thought MLP was just a show and toy brand.
So many missed opportunities.
Luna becomes Nightmare Moon(all because of a stupid reason).
Celestia becomes Daybreaker(or I like to call her Doomsday).
Twilight Sparkle becomes Midnight Sparkle(or I like to call her Midnight Void, Midnight Vortex, or Star Storm).
If Cadence is going to become a villain then it has to be a good reason for it, like somthing tragic happen that caused her to go flying off the rails.
Example: Shining Armor and Flurry Heart got caught in a house explosion and Cadance thought that they died, but actually they Survived thanks to Discord teleporting them out just in time.
After Cadence witness the death of her husband and child(or thats what she thought), she transformed into Heart Breaker(thats what I like to call her), a villain born from tragedy. she is so cold blooded, so ruthless, and so relentless that she could easily put Queen Chrysalis to shame, and she will seek vengeance opon the one who took everything from her.
Cadence/Heart Breaker would make a very good Tragic Villain just like Mr. Freeze from batman.
Villains that do evil with no motivation or for a dumb reason is just so boring and repetitive.
Tbf i like villains with no motivation aswell as villains with a motive, these mfs evil and they’re gonna make a show out of it, there is no boundary they will not cross to get what they want
