I don't really care if it's real or not, I've known for a while the ones that are sold extra cheap are fake. However, as long as the fish and other sushi ingredients are fresh and delicious, I'm fine with something affordable and pleasantly spicy alongside it.
You haven't had real wasabi if spicy is your first thought of it. Sure some variants can be a bit more spicy but it is a very short lived heat before the veggie/sweet tastes overtake. Just enjoy horseradish if that is what you like, horseradish is great with certain dishes and pallets.
